Jan 11, 2011I am trying to set history points for a form that posts to a second page. Both the first page and second page are content pages in a master page.The form is in an update panel and consists of several textboxes, one radiobutton group of two radiobuttons and one ajax calendar control. The last two textboxes are a zipcode box and a county box. The county box is populated from a database table when the user fills in the zipcode in a textbox and tabs out or clicks in the next textbox.

Mar 17, 2010I had a requirement to pass data between pages in my application.I have a Page A where user will input some data and on submit User will be redirected to Page B where again user will enter some more data and on submitting user will be show a confirmation in Page C after doing some calculations and data saving.Following is the idea I was trying to use:

In Page A Codebehind file I am creating following public properties of the inputs to access in Page B:

Postback is working fine from Page A to Page B, but when posting data from Page B to Page C, it is automatically redirecting to Page A.
I am not getting any kind of error or anything. page is simply redirecting to Page A. One reason as I understand is that when I post data from Page A to page B. Page A life cycle is executed and Page A becomes null.But when the data is posted to Page C. why the PreviousPage property is checked for Page A?

Feb 2, 2011Im using this code below, but it does not work. I am NOT specifying the "PreviousPageType VirtualPath" in the page, as I want to be able to post to this page from multipul different pages. It finds the placeholder ok, but the control collection for that placeholder is empty so the textbox is never found.
I want to be able to post to this page from many pages that are created using the custom error page. So I cant really specify the "PreviousPageType VirtualPath" as it can be many places all of which are not physical paths

Jan 31, 2011when any Button control is clicked generally it Postback the page to itself, and the same page is regenerated.This is the usual defination of postback in context of a Button Control. But my dear friends i am confused that what is the actual mechanism behind this.Okey say for definition the above statement is fine but believe me i not not getting the actual meaning.What is posting back the Page? What is Page in browser's context? There is only html markup, JavaScript and CSS codes in browser's page.These make up the html page. I think there is no any relation of this Browser's page with ASP.NET Page class. What does it mean that browser's content is posted back to the Page itself ?

Well, as you see clicking the button will redirect user to "http://www.somesite.com/somewhere" and also will post three specified fields as data to that page; which can be retrieved using Request.Form["field#"] at destination.
I want to do all these works using C# or VB.NET code, because I don't want my hidden fields to be accessible to users (who may use firebug or something similar).
MVC :: Filter Forms And Posting Results
Feb 8, 2010I have a page which is used to filter through a list of jobs. The form is built dynamically with values available in a database (ex. education level, element, full/part time, etc). I have checkboxes and radio buttons.
On submit, I am able to pass the FormCollection, loop through all that, generate my parameters, pass them on to my stored procedure, and return the resulting job list. The problem is that when the page reloads with the results, the filters are reset. How would I make sure that the search parameters (filters), are kept ? How would I re-select the fields in my form ?

Dec 16, 2010I use a multi-line textbox for users to post their words, for security I use html.encode to disable html tags, however I do want to detect links and email using regular expression so users can click on them, however, that is not gonna work as I disable the html tag, I wonder what is the most common way to deal with this kind of issue?

Jul 13, 2010I have the following data that basically I only need a few bits of information from: The only things I need from this are:
Patients Name
Drs Name
Patients Phone Number
Appt Time
Appt Date
and the rest of the information I can discard. A customer uploads this as a .csv file (even though it really isn't as you can see) and I'd like to parse the needed information and post that to my SQL database and discard the rest. I think I can do this with a dataset but I've never built that before. The fields from the customer will always be the same and the fields I will need will always be the same. Also, the date time has to be in the format of yyyy/mm/dd:hhmm and the phone number always has to have 512 as a prefix. Here is the code I currently have for my site:

Step 1 : The partner does an HTTP post on my server webpage.
Step 2 : My webpage gets the posted data, and does processing and generates a response number. I have a literal in this webpage, and I assign the response to this literal.
Step 3: The client parses and gets the response code from my webpage.
My question, How can I know that the client got my response code? (ie there is no time out issue)

Sep 3, 2010I have an application that needs to post data to a url on the web and then receive an xml response. I have an HTML form (provided by vendor) that posts the data correctly, however when clicking the submit button the page is redirected to the post url and the xml is displayed in the browser. I need to do this on a postback within an existing asp.net project. Basically, the user will fill out the form, the form data will post to the url, the xml response will be received, and the appropriate values will be displayed on the screen. I've found a bunch of examples for doing this but I just can't seem to get my head around it. Can anyone point me in the right direction or explain how I should go about this?

He click on a button (Save) and data is added to the database. He then presses F5 to update the page, and the button event is fired again adding more data to the database that should no be added. My question is how can I avoid this scenario?

Jul 30, 2010I have an interesting issue I have racked my brain trying to find a solution to.
I have a site with a single master page. Part of that master page is a text field and button. They are not part of a content placeholder, they are simply part of the master page, itself, and are intended to allow people to search the site from any page on the site.
So, all search requests are routed to a search.aspx page, regardless. I am doing this by setting the PostBackUrl attribute of the button control to "search.aspx".
This all works great, except when I try to use this search capability from the search.aspx page, itself. I figure this is because I am using the Page.PreviousPage object and since a postback from the search.aspx page, itself will result in the Page.PreviousPage being Nothing, it is not performing the proper action.

May 25, 2010I have a button on my web form. When it is pressed, the event method for that button is called as it should be. However before the buttons method is called, the page load event is first called. Is there a way to prevent the page load event from being called when the button is pressed? I know about using !Page.IsPostback in the Page load method. However I wish to avoid posting back to the Page Load method altogether when this particular button is pressed.

Apr 5, 2010I try to postback my page to the server using ctrl+Enter sequence.Without UpdatePanel it works well, but it works only two times inside updatepanel and then my control loses the focus. So I have some questions:
1. Why my control loses the focus if it is located inside updatepanel?
2. What is the best way to use ctrl+Enter sequence to post the page to the server?
