I have the following code, i add code for required validator, but when you make selection from dropdown to create the table, the page generates an error. Should the logic be somewhere else to add it to the table? i mean, dont they have to be there so when you submit the form, it fires the validation?

i want to see the sales in the grid view based on the month selected from drop down list. Ex: when I select June 2010 from the ddl box, the sales for that month are correctly displayed in the grid view. I go to page 4 to look at some sales there and then switch the month to August 2010 to see sales for that month instead. Here is the problem. When I switch the month, it show August 2010 sales, but stays in page 4 instead of going back/resetting back to page 1 of August 2010 sales.
How do I reset the grid view page back to the first page of August 2010 sales?

I have a second dropdown box which is populated from SQLDataSource2, but i need the query feeding this to be dependent on what was selected in the first dropdown box. I assumed it would simply be a case of modifying the select statement on SQLDataSource2 using the SelectedIndexChanged event on the first DropDownList to update the second SQL source, but I cannot work out for the life of me how to do it. Pretty much all of the code I have is ASP.
can i do this purely in ASP rather than using VB behind the scenes or do I need to use VB? I am pretty comfortable with vb.net but one of the other issues I have is referencing an ASP object from VB... so for instance if I had a text box in ASP, how can I read or change the properties of this object from VB?

I'm new to ASP.NET. I 'm trying to figure out how to make an HTML/ASP page where a user puts in data, either in text fields or selection boxes, and on clicking a submit button all of there selected data gets dropped either into a Access 97 Db or an excel spread sheet. Are there any examples out there of this? Is there a place that has already created this and I can just look and the code and figure it out for myself?

i have a dropdown with month names if the user has data for the month tht is selected then gridview displays the rows with day nos as per the month but if the gridview has no data for the same the dropdown or gridview via some event should call a insert procedure to insert data into the table for tht month with daynos ad rebind the gridview witht the rows just created

We've added a new column to a database table. The column is defined as follows:
Name: DisplayAsSoldOut
Type: Boolean
NOT NULLABLE
Default Value: 0
We've refreshed our EDMX data model and the new column appears just fine. We are on an ASP.NET 4.0 platform using C#.
We have a class defined as PagedList which inherits from List and implenents an interface IPagedList
Within the PagedList we have the following method:

we receive the following Exception ...
Type: System.Data.EntityCommandExecutionException
Inner Exception: "Invalid column name 'DisplayAsSoldOut'."
I've tried searching for this type of exception but to no avail. The column appears in the EDMX dataset just fine. I even created a small throwaway program and imported the EDMX to do a simple read from the database and it worked fine. Has anyone run across something similar?
How to make the linq throw error, when not null columns are there in the table.
Why I am saying, it is. I tried to add to column in the table. Linq throwed error os some sort. I could not understand. it was like some innner table etc.
I had to resort to native sql, which showed the error, as the not null fields are there in the table.

I have set up a small SQL Server database for users to login and also create accounts. There is a problem with the connection string though. Whenever I use the connection string below in the web.config file I get a server error page and cannot view the website. However when I take out this connection string I am able to view the website albeit the database doesn't work.

I'm building a custom control that has a ValidationText property of type List<string>. The value of the property is rendered as a comma-delimited string in the XHTML code. Changing the value in the String Collection editor updates the XHTML code and vice versa. So everything seems to work at design time. But... when I run the project I get a parser error:

Now my datasource has where clause depends on the selection of a dropdownlist that contains selection of one of the items plsu and option ALL.
This only caters for all or, one item
I need to make it

I have an application that uploads an Excel .xls file to the file system, opens the file with an oledbconnection object using the .open() method on the object instance. The upload and writing of the file to the file system works fine but I get an error when trying to open the file on our production server only. The application works fine on two other servers (development and testing servers).

The exception comes on production server at connection.Open() some times, when I reset the asp.net worker process it started to work but after some hours/days It occurs again. how can I fix this issue which comes in production some times but very irritating, or there is some other work around.
