DataSource Controls :: Generates Unspecified Error On Opening File On Production Server
Jan 5, 2010
I have an application that uploads an Excel .xls file to the file system, opens the file with an oledbconnection object using the .open() method on the object instance. The upload and writing of the file to the file system works fine but I get an error when trying to open the file on our production server only. The application works fine on two other servers (development and testing servers).
The exception comes on production server at connection.Open() some times, when I reset the asp.net worker process it started to work but after some hours/days It occurs again. how can I fix this issue which comes in production some times but very irritating, or there is some other work around.
I am developing one web application using MS Access database using oledb connection.Previously i checked the same application is works well in the same machine. Now Today i checked they provide "Unspecified Error". And also Provide the following Exception:
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Unspecified errorat System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnectionInternal..ctor(OleDbConnectionString constr, OleDbConnection connection) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnectionFactory.CreateConnection(DbConnectionOptions options, Object poolGroupProviderInfo, DbConnectionPool pool, DbConnection owningObject) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionFactory.CreateNonPooledConnection(DbConnection owningConnection, DbConnectionPoolGroup poolGroup)at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionFactory.GetConnection(DbConnection owningConnection) at System.Data.ProviderBase.DbConnectionClosed.OpenConnection(DbConnection outerConnection, DbConnectionFactory connectionFactory) at System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection.Open() at clsOledbClass.opencon() in c:inetpubwwwrootcheckNPCApp_CodeclsOledbClass.cs:line 64
I am using the following connection string for connecting database:
I'm building a custom control that has a ValidationText property of type List<string>. The value of the property is rendered as a comma-delimited string in the XHTML code. Changing the value in the String Collection editor updates the XHTML code and vice versa. So everything seems to work at design time. But... when I run the project I get a parser error:
"Cannot create an object of type 'System.Collections.Generic.List`1[[System.String, mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089]]' from its string representation 'hh,ss' for the 'ValidationText' property."
how to transfer my data from devlopment server to production server ,i have already records exist in my database if i go for script then how can i transfor record in script i can transfor only table ,procedure and views.I am using SqlServer 2005.
While writing to the SQL Server database, I might encounter the below error message: "Error 823I/O error <error> detected during <operation> at offset <offset> in file '<file>'"This error message may occur every time when I start SQL Server and access the MDF file.
I have the following error. Iam trying to put the method in try catch but still not sure what to put in catch. I am trying to make it thow an exception due to the folloing unspecified error.
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

I have a SQL server in my office. I can connect from my home development workstation website to the remote SQL server with no problems but when I upload the site to the web host and try and use the same SQL server it fails with 'A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible'
I am actually using 2 type of queries in my website e.g
These Queries are from my stored procedures
SELECT * FROM TblName WHERE FREETEXT(ColumnName, @parameter)
AND
SELECT * FROM TblName WHERE CONTAINS((Column1, Column2), @parameter))
I have enabled Full Text Indexing on my tables both local and on my hosting company MS SQL Server.
The above queries are working fine on my local database and return results but these queries return nothing when i try to run them on hosting company MS SQL Server.
I have identical data on both MS SQL Servers and both servers are 2008.
I used visual studio 2008 and sql server 2005(for database) in my website project. After finishing my project i used publish to web option and got the files into an folder. error: unable to open site: ... The Web server does not appear to have FrontPage Server Extensions installed.
Looking on the server Frontpage Extensions 2002 are installed, so what could be wrong?
The thing is, I used to be able to open the project and work on it, etc...
Open Website -> Remote Site -> Enter remote site name -> tries to open & error above!

Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.
Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".
[Code].....
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.
when I save the file that is returned by Handler and try to open it I get the following message:"The file you trying to open, 'Users.xls', is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupt and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?" How to fix this? Here the code of the handler:
I have an ASP.NET web application that has the following settings in the web.config file:

(The actual names are different, obviously.) I am not a member of the real "Valid Site Users" group which is why I am given explicit access.I am able to access the site without a problem while developing and debugging locally; however, I get a 401 (Unauthorized Access) error when I deploy the site to a server. The only way to gain access is to remove the <deny> element from the configuration, which is not an acceptable option.I'm certain the solution is something simple and I am just overlooking

I have an ASP.NET project that also uses a SQL MDF File. My target server is SQL 2008R2 or SQL Azure.I would like to know what deployment options I have as I migrate from DEV to PROD. In case it matters I'm not under any regulation to maintain PII or similarly private data.
We have had some problems with using a unmanaged DLL file written in Delphi. (Unable to load dll - not found...)The following code solved the problem on my local machine:
[Code]....
1) The elusive DLL is copied to the ASP.NET temporary files folder2) To check this we get a list of files from that folder.3) The needed function is called with DLL-import.1 & 2 works perfectly - both run directly from Visual Studio 2010 and when uploaded to a webhotel3 works perfectly local, but causes the remote host to think a little and then return a HTTP 503 Service Unaviable error for the next few minutes...
I'm not able to open the file when I click on the link on page in MVC. I get the following message. I've added the impersonation in the code. I'm able to delete and save the file.
Access to the path '\servernamefolder1folder2folder3foder4filename.pdf' is denied. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path '......same as above....' is denied.
ASP.NET is not authorized to access the requested resource. Consider granting access rights to the resource to the ASP.NET request identity. ASP.NET has a base process identity (typically {MACHINE}ASPNET on IIS 5 or Network Service on IIS 6) that is used if the application is not impersonating. If the application is impersonating via <identity impersonate="true"/>, the identity will be the anonymous user (typically IUSR_MACHINENAME) or the authenticated request user.
To grant ASP.NET access to a file, right-click the file in Explorer, choose "Properties" and select the Security tab. Click "Add" to add the appropriate user or group. Highlight the ASP.NET account, and check the boxes for the desired access.
