View 2 Replies.I am new to asp.net.Is there any way we can limi the width of the gridview in the design mode.
I have to put 15-20 columns on the gridview.When I add columns to gridview the width shoots out of the page and the page design is seems ruined.
i placed it inside the panel and added scrol bars to it. it looks ok when debuggin i.e looks ok in internet explorer but in design mode it ruins the page design.
in my application i am displaying a image (image size is 90px width,90px height) and below that i displaying title of the image in data list control (horizontal display). i used table (tags) in source code.the image and title will display dynamically from database. my problem is when title is too long it is disturbing my design, when title is too long it should come down, the title should same size as the picture if it is too long it come down in second line.

View 1 RepliesYou know how when you put your cursor over the line that seperates 2 columns of a grid, the cursor turns into a 2 headed arrow and allows you to adjust the width of the column? How do you allow this with a gridview?

I've developed a web application to accept video file uploads and then pass them to a backend service on an external server. The application runs without error on the visual studio debugging webserver, but once on a production iis 6 or 7 server, yields a timeout error at about a consistent amount of time into handling a large upload. Specifically, it errors in the middle of transferring the video file to the external server, once the application has successfully received it from the client. I'm aware of several timeouts to be configured related to the problem, and have done so. The application's web config has been tested with one or both of the following settings
<system.web>
<httpRuntime executionTimeout="9999999" maxRequestLength="2048000" />
</system.web>
and
<configuration>
<location path="default.aspx"> (the page at issue that's timing out)
<system.web>
<httpRuntime executionTimeout="9999999" maxRequestLength="2048000" />
</system.web>
</location>
</configuration>
And within the initialization of the webrequest made to the external server to send the video received from the client browser:
HttpWebRequest httpWebRequest = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url);
httpWebRequest.ContentType = "multipart/form-data; boundary=" + boundary;
httpWebRequest.Method = "POST";
httpWebRequest.Timeout = System.Threading.Timeout.Infinite;
So with the execution time limits on both the webform as a whole and the connection made to the external server, I'm at a loss for what timeout is left unconfigured, or how to determine such, when I continue to get the following error: Unexpected error executing Brightcove Upload:...........................
I have created a custom user control and place Ajax editor and override the class of ajax editor to disable few buttons in editor ,
i am getting the following error
unknown server tag on the design time, and iat runtime it is working properly,
MY Drop Down width is Different in IE and Mozilla
How to make constant width in both browsers.
I have a dropdown list in a gridview field. The DataValueField for the ddl is an 8 digit item code. The text to display through will be quite longer, 40-60 characters because it will combine the item code and item name into a single string. I don't want the dropdownlist field to be that wide though, only what is displayed when the ddl is selected.In Access you can set the width property of the list to display wider than the field itself. Is there that capability in ASP.NET and if so where do I find it?
View 2 RepliesIs there any way to set the width of a GridView to a pre-determined width?
I have set the width of the gridview and all the columns to a % and then to a number of pixels but it does work. The gridview always sets itself to a width required to display all fields and it goes beyond the resolution of the screen. I would like to contain it to 1024 pixels.

I am learning asp.net using Visual web developer 2008 express.
I have an image control with the html code below
<div class="Header">
<asp:Image ID="image1" runat="server"
ImageUrl="D:/Master/test.jpg" Width="500" Height="300"
AlternateText="UNRA Fort Portal Intranet"/>
</div>
In design view, the image shows but when i run the app, the image is not shown. Only the alternate text is displayed.
The css code code as below.
.Header
{
top:10px;
left:20px;
position:absolute;
width:800px;
background-image:URL(D:/Master/test.jpg);
background-repeat:repeat-x;
}
I'm sure this question has been asked before but I have been unable to find an answer so far. I want to create a control consisting of a label, an editor control and make the editor control resizable using the ResizeControlExtender:
[Code]....
I have is to extend the control vertically, effectively making it longer, but I don't want the user to make it any wider than it parent control - effectively disabling the option to make it wider. Hopefully that makes sense - for an example, look no further than the control used to input text when creating a post.
Can anybody let me know the activex script for detecting .net runtime and directx runtime or any other way how can I detect this in any machine by from my web page ?
View 1 RepliesIn css I use a class named bodyClass to set the aspx page's body width:65%;
In the page I have <body class="bodyClass".....
I can see my page is sized... But the browser still opens itself at the last width that was in use when it was closed...
I try width:650px; as well, same result.
is there possible to control the table (tr, th, td) width in cs code? i dont want in HTML.
View 7 Repliescan't connect to sql 2005 express sp1 and vs is also sp1. 2) Which my guess is because of the database connection not being able... design view is not able to pull in the application for design, it's as if there is no theme and css just white background and black print.

View 2 RepliesI installed Rad Controls. Using that controls, I designed my application pages. At design time, the design is not visible. It shows the following error:
RadTabStrip1Failed to create designer 'Telerik.Web.UI.RadTabStrip, Telerik.Web.UI, Version=2010.1.415.35, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=121fae78165ba3d4'
I have downloaded published (code behind files are no there, combined with dll in bin folder) web application from window server 2008 where it is hosted, & open it with visual studio when i debug that application it shows following error: "Colud not load assembly because this assembly is built by a runtime newer than the currently loaded runtime" I don't know how can i solve this problem and test application locally.
View 2 RepliesI'm about to design my Web service API, most of the functions of my API is basically very simular to my web application. Now the question is, should I create 1 single method and reuse them for both the web application and the web service api? (This seems to be the logical solution, however its very complicated; it's much easier to duplicate the method used by the web application, and keep both separate, ie one method for the web application and one method for the web service.)
1) REUSE: one main method and reuse them for both web application and web service application (I like this but it's complicated)
WebAppMethodX --uses-->
COMMONFUNCTIONMETHOD_X
APIMethodX ---uses---->
COMMONFUNCTIONMETHOD_X
ie Commonfunctionmethod_x contains reusable set of common features
PRO: less code, less maintenance, less bugs.
CON: very complicated
2) DUPLICATE: two methods, one method for the web application and one method for the web service.
WebAppMethodX
APIMethodX
PRO: simple
CON: duplication = more code, more maintenance, more bugs!
in my project the design view is not viewed, but the project is working well and good .. the only issue is i cant see my design view ..
