I have created an ASP.Net application using .Net framework 4.0. I need to save an xml file on any location on same server (if file not already exists) and want to access then after always. But I dont want to set write permission to any folder. Is it possible to write a file to any location for Network service account without specifying write permission? Does Network service account have default write permission to any location?
I need to setup a site to work with a local IIS 7 server (running windows 7). And I get a permissions error stating that I should setup write permission on the App_Data folder.
Where do I do this? Do I do this through IIS 7 management, or windows explorer?

I've created a quiz web part in SharePoint 2007, but am stuck on one permission. It needs to write the quiz score to a list, which it's throwing an error now when trying. I'm under the assumption that if the web part has the appropriate permission level, the user's permissions (the quiz taker) don't matter. Is there a particular permission that should allow the webpart to write to a list? Specifically:
I need to set folder permission programmaticcaly which is in my GoDaddy server. I have nearly 150 folders in my server so I cant change through server settings or IIS settings. I am using web application. My folder may go on increase in future.I have googled a lot of things.
1. Like Access Control List in System.SEcurity namespace
2.System.principl.security...
I cant able to change the file permission but not a directory.
I must allow all the users to write or move a file to the folder which is in read only mode. That should be done programmatically and should be dynamic.
hw can i give write permission to folder for changing the image at runtime.i have tried so many times but still confused and free hand. can some one pls give me the solution in details.
I set all the permissions correctly (I think), but I still can't upload file on the server. I am receiving error that access is denied when I am trying to upload the file.
I set the permissions to be able to write for Internet guest, network service and asp.net in both physical folder and in the iis.
I want to create and write file in "C:windowssystem32" this path.some computer give the error access denied.i want some code in C# who give the permission to folder.
I have upload my files in domain.after uploading,i run the site.i get the following error The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'xxxxxxx', database 'zzzzzzz', schema 'dbo'. what reason for this error raised and how to solve it?.
I'm trying to add functionality to a simple web service that will allow me to log information to an XML file on the hard drive where the application is located. When I employ the functionality in a Console version of the application, the data gets logged to:binx86Debug MySolution.MyProjectMessageLogTestMessagess.xml. However, when I try to write read from or write to the XML file in the ASP.NET application, I get a System.UnauthorizedAccessException with the message: Accees to the path 'MessageLog' is denied.I would like the log file to appear in the in folder of the application directory, so what settings in IIS or on the server itself would I need to change to allow my application to read from and write to that folder?
So,my question is that why we basically use @ before the sql query. If I don't use @ before that then it again work fine (does not give any error), then what is need of using "@"?
i am calling a function which is inside Homescroll.ascx.cs from Homescroll.ascx so i wrote on Homescroll.ascx as <% Response.Write(scroll()); %> but all this is in update panel,and i am getting errors. so is their any other way to call function from homescroll.ascx to homescroll.ascx.cs,instead of response.write();
I need the settings in web.config file of my asp.net application through which i can set permission for particular folder outside IIS. I need this functionality through settings in web.config.
Edited: I need to know that how can we apply impersonation in web.config file
I'm using the Aspnet_regsql.exe for roles in my app. I want to grant someone temporary permission to access some of the pages in this site for a limited amount of time. I would like to grant a user permission for a couple days or so, then revoke these permissions. Or create a user with full permissions that would only last a couple days.
The customer(telecommunication firm) has a server which we publish asp.net web service codes which we designed for them. We use that server and web service to get data from the customers own web service and give out for client(telephone) to use it.The customer does not allow us to code on the remote server, so we have to work on local computer. The customer has 2 IPs for its own web services. One of them can be reached only from the remote server, this is an internal IP. Second IP is public which I can reach from my local computer. They address the same methods. For security reasons, they divided IPs. Everything is fine while developing on local. But when I need to publish web service to the server, I need to change web service URLs to remote servers internal IP. But the local Visual Studio web reference doesn't change web service URLs because it can't reach to service as it is only permitted to reach from the server. So I cannot get a build and publish my code.
i like to design a asp.net application(app1) where we can create role and actions. here action is such as create student details and delete student details... this both actions comes underneath to a role1.. so, the application will have some roles with set of actions. This roles and action will be used later in another applications(app2 and app3).
i have designed app1 with single sign on for all the application(app2,app3). when a user enter into app2, he/she will be redirected login page which resides in app1. There user validation will take place. once validated, authentication ticket will be send back to requested application(app2).
Once app2 receive the ticket, it will make another request app1 to get the roles and action belongs to singed user. the app2 should behave based the actions belongs to role.
*A user can have more roles.
how to control the user activities based on the actions?
I have deployed an web application in my system which is having public IP. I am able to log in to the application using some user id and passwords which where created earlier. But when i use another user id and pasword it is showing the below message:
"The user does not have permission to log in to the application. contact your administrator"
I have checked the database there was no changes made to set the settings for these users. It is not coming for all the users but it is coming for certain users only.
I want to upload files in my Asp.net application on server but I have to grant it R/W access so that I or anyone can upload files in it. Is there any way that I write some code or configuration lines in Web.config which solve this permission problem?
