Is there a method for detecting browser history in C# or do you have to use javascript?I am basically storing IPAddresses, BrowserTypes, Dates, and Where the User Came From Just Before Visiting My Site.I have programmed the rest, but I need to access the browser hisory to get the previous page or site. In the page there are two links. When i click the first link it opens a window in a new page. I do this by using the above code.
I am clicking the second link in the page and navigating to another page. Now i am clicking the browser back button. Supprisingly its opening the first link.
How clicking back button is opening the link in the page. I am using c# .net 2005.
Created an solution containing several class libraries (domain, contracts, etc, etc) and an Asp.Net MVC3 project. Created a database in my local sql server (2008) and ran aspnet_regsql.exe to create the relevant membership and authentication tables. (Though I did not create any code yet that uses it, and plan to just implement the standard forms and membership authentication.) However, when I click on the "Asp.Net Configuration" button in VS (2010), it open the Asp.Net Web Site Administration Tool, but with an error that say "An error was encountered. return to the previous page and try again." (of course there's no "previous page). Only reason i want to use this is actually to create two roles, admin and client. Guess my problem is not knowing where this tool get it's connectionstring from. At present, I got the following in my web.config

Starting Page
Gridview control withing an update panel (also various controls used for filtering NOT IN UPDATE PANEL)
Databinding does not happen during page load.
Databinding is initiated when update panel trigger (asp:Button object) is clicked
Hyperlink column is added to returned records
Hyperlink posts to a separate page for detail for record which the hyperlink was clicked.
Second Page
While navigating via the browser back button to previous page (which contained the update panel and gridview) only the (various controls used for filtering) have retained state. The gridview is not shown (which is how the page loads initially when starting) How can I retain the state of the Gridview and add a step in the browser history all together?
I need to access the previous page URL but because I am using a MasterPage, I am having difficulty achieving this.

This only returns the URL of the current page.
I've used PreviousPage Property to access the controls of the previous page but how can I access objects and instances of classes I initiated in the previous page!
View 2 RepliesI Have a problem here with Visual Web devoloper 2010 , When I click the "Asp.net Configuration" , the browser doesn't open the Web Site Administration Tool but the icon does appear in the notification area , on right clicking the icon it opens up the Web Site Administration Tool in the browser and displays "An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again."
On the other hand I don't have any issues using "Asp.net Configuration" with Visual Web Devoloper 2008

I'm using a wizard control with 4 steps, when I use the previous button to navigate back to the previous step the page reloads but at the bottom of the page.Instead of showning the whole of the page, the user views the footer of the site and the previous button and next button.I'm sure there is a very simple answer to this but I just can't figure out how to get the page to reload to the top.

In the first page i filled some data and click search button it show some results, i click on particular result for its details which navigate to the 2nd page but when i click on custom back button it refresh the page and all data set to initial values,when i use onclick="javascript:history.back();" I get nothing but the page displays "webpage has expired."

View 2 RepliesI have an MVC app that uses [Authorize] to protect the private bits. When I select the SignOut() URL it signs me out but if I hit the back button on my browser the it goes to the secure page and even lets me use the form. The action takes place and then it shows that I'm signed out. The problem is that it performs the secured action (inserting a row into my database). Then I can use the back button again and do it all over. If I use the back button after logging out and hit the browser refresh it does show I'm logged out and refuses me access to the secure page. Am I missing something important? It seems like it could be a really big security issue.

My problem is that I have a TextBox with AutoComplete Extender and It's works but The browser save the text that i have Entered before so when i start writing to My text Box I have Two lists appear , one from the browser and one from the autocomplete
I want to disable the browser list and keep the autocomplete list only.
I'm pretty sure the answer to this question is no, but I just wanted to get some feedback before I go down another path.
Here is my scenario. I have two websites. Website 1 is an internal website that cannot be accessed outside of our domain. Website 2 is an external website that can be accessed outside of the domain, but has access to webservices inside of the domain.
My question is, is there any possible way to display the internal page through the external page without making the internal page external.
If I am going to access another page from previous page using response.redirect or server.transfer, What can I do so that the previous web page control can be accessed by the another page? Is it possible??

I have an application where I am binding sitemap to a repeater control for showing horizontal tabs and this shows up fine. Now I have to append some dynamic query string parameters (say id and year) to all the sitemap nodes of the sitemap so that when I bind it to a repeater all the tabs will have these query string parameters.here is my sample code

Now when I try to click on next or previous buttons on any page to navigate, I am not able to access the nextsibling or previoussibling node.....both of them are null. can any one let me know what am I doing wrong here?
Newer to ASP (not VB). Running VS 2010 Ult. Basically I just need pointed in the right direction for what I am trying to accomplish. I am trying to setup a site where a user can create an account, log in and have access to only their "home page". On that home page I want them to be able to have access to their data and their data only. I have created the web site and the login, create user, change password, ect. pages using the built in controls, problem is that about the extent of my ASP'ing.
I would just like pointed in the right direction to be able to code this. Not asking for someone else to do it for me, I want to learn this on my own. I'm using Visual Web Developer Express 2008 and IE8.
When I preview a page from my website ("my-site") in a browser, I'd like to be able to click to other pages in the site. But when I try I get

I'm not getting any build errors, but it seems like Visual Web Developer is only building the page being previewed. I tried building and rebuilding the site before previewing, but without solving my problem.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there any way to build the site so I can click around the whole site in a browser on my local machine? Or does Visual Web Developer only build a page at a time?

How can I build a query in a new page using the value from a prevous pages control's value. I can transfer the value to the new page, I just don't know how to use the passed value to build a query. I want to populate a data grid filtering with values obtained from the proveous page.

When I click on the link it goes to the Details page Page Load Function like its suppose to, but when it finishes it goes back to the Home pages Page Load Function. Then loads the Details page. So it parses the old pages Page Load Function for somewhat no apparent reason, because in the end it loads the Details page. This only happens when I click on the link to my Details page. When I click on other links to other pages, it doesn't do this. For some reason only my Details page. I went through the code to see what could be causing this but have no clue. I included below the complete .aspx.vb for my Details page. What could be causing this? Again this ONLY happens when going to my Details page.

I'm working on a wizard-like set of page, and I'm relying on cross page postbacks to navigate between them.
I need to be able to trigger the Load event on the previous page in order to save the form data for the page.
I've been told that for situations of this sort all I had to do is access the PreviousPage property in the destination page and this would trigger the load event of the previous page but for some reason this doesn't seem to be working.
Is there anything else I can do to explicitly trigger the load event on the previouspage if the PreviousPage property is not null?
