Apr 30, 2010I have been trying to create a custom Styles select button for the HTMLEditor control based on the examples given in the CustomButtonsAndPopups.cs and CustomEditor.cs files. I have had some success: The select button is displayed and the functionality of selecting a style (eg. H1, H2, P etc) and changing the style of selected text works but there are two problems that make it different from the Font Name select button: There is no label next to the button and there is no default text:

Inline Styles Versus Styles In CSS
Jan 18, 2011I know placing all your styles in a CSS file is the best thing to do as it is a lot neater.
But does it REALLY matter if the styles are inline or in a CSS?

My plan is to just place the styles in my MasterPage and all other pages will use the MasterPage....I believe the correct term is not "INLINE" but Embedded?
C# - Menu Control In Master Page Fails To Use CSS Styles?
Jun 2, 2010I'm working on a web application that uses ASP.NET 3.5 and C#. Structurally, I have a master page with a menu control on it. The control serves as my navigation, and it gets its items from a SiteMapDataSource control and a corresponding Web.sitemap file.
The problem is that some styles do not render properly when you specify the CssClass property. More specifically, the selected and hover styles don't respond to css styles. Consider the code below:

any insight into what is causing this problem and how to neatly work around it? I'm aware I might be able to programmically determine the current page and select the corresponding menu item manually so it receives the proper style class, but before I resort to hacking C# and Javascript together to fix this functionality.

Jul 7, 2010 I have created a menu in ASP.net 4.0 which is is rendered as UL/LI
However I am frustrated with ASP as it produces unwanted style e.g. style="position: relative; width: auto; float: left;" in the UL tag according to firebug. I would really like it to render without this.
A second question is the output in firebug is not the same as if I look at the page source i.e. the style="..." is not in the UL? Is Firebug wrong...can it be trusted?
The ASP is as follows:

AJAX :: Accordion Control Ignores Styles Inside Of Asp
Jan 24, 2011Create a new website based on master pages (ASP.NET Web Site template in VS2010 [File] - [New] - [Website]). Add an ajax control toolkit accordion control on a page using master pages (Default.aspx's "Main Content" asp:content block, for instance). Add styles for the accordion control in the site.css file. The accordion control completely ignores the styles, regardless of whether they are assigned as an id or a class, inline, etc. The header and content styles are used, but the accordion control itself ignores all styles. The accordion control also ignores the ajax animationextender when placed inside an asp:content block. I haven't investigated whether there are other controls that ignore styles when used with master pages, but this is a major blow to a project that has been designed with the use of master pages. If I find more controls that ignore css styles inside of master pages it will completely sabotage the entire project and use of Microsoft's technology.

Jan 19, 2010I have a few issues with the HTMLEditor control.
First, if I type an e-mail address into the HTMLEditor control, it automatically reformats the e-mail address into a link (underlined w/ blue font). How can I disable this feature?
Second, is there a way to prevent pasting into the HTMLEditor? I successfully got Internet Explorer to throw errors when I copied & pasted the entire page, HTMLEditor and all, into the HTMLEditor control. Since the page already contained a PageRequestManager, the data I pasted into HTMLEditor contained its own code for a PageRequestManager. As a result, unsurprisingly, I got the following IE error:
Error: Sys.InvalidOperationException: The PageRequestManager cannot be initialized more than once.
Is there a way for me to prevent these strange situations from occurring?

Oct 8, 2010I am using a dev express control: ASPxHtmlEditor version 10.1. I am trying to create a simple that only has this control. Unfortunately the control does not render with any of its styles or images loaded. This happens over 20 times. The control does not have any of its styles and all of its images do not load on the control.
I am getting 404 exceptions similar to: "Failed to load source http://localhost:11238/DXR.axd?r=5_0"

Aug 22, 2010I've encountered was appears to be a strange bug with the menu control, and alas, I am unable to find much useful information on it (which leads me to believe I have something installed or confingured incorrectly). Here the problem:
When declaring a menu control with a staticHoverStyle, for example:

Has no effect on the behavior of the control once it's rendered, neither in Firefox nor IE.In fact, using the source code at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms366731.aspx with no modifications also results in the hoverstyle not working.
This problem seems to be "fixed" if you specify the css attribute declaratively, for example, StaticMenuItemStyle-BackColor="Yellow".
Alternatively, if you specify RenderingMode="table" then the hoverstyle seems to work. It's only when you're using a cssclass with a list that things seem to mess up.
Finally, I notice that in the rendered html, the control embeds some styles between /* <![CDATA[ */ and /* ]]> */ comments that affects the final appearance of the menu control, sometimes overwriting a cssclass you specified (ex: the margin for dynamic menus can only be controlled with the HorizontalOffset property, and not by css). This is undesirable, but I don't see anything that seems to overwrite the behavior of hover elements. Actually, the .hoveritem class doesn't appear anywhere in the markup at all, but when you specify the StaticMenuItemStyle-BackColor property, then the value is rendered correctly in this block of styles.
AJAX :: HTMLEditor Control - Unable To See Content
May 21, 2010I'm attempting to add an Editor control to my site. However, my problem is that all I'm seeing when I view it are the toolbars; I can't see content in between the upper and lower toolbar. Having an Editor isn't very useful when I have no content to edit! Here's some code I'm using to test it; what am I missing?

Feb 15, 2010I've defined node styles for my TreeView instance in markup (using <LevelStyles> for example). Everything renders correctly in IE7/8 but, when rendering in Chrome, Safari or FireFox, the styles are not being applied. From looking at the source code for the page, I can see that the various runtime css classes are being injected into the top of the page, but the class attributes on the <a> tags (within the generated TreeView HTML) are empty (class=""). In IE, the class attributes contain references to the classes that were injected into the page.
Can anyone explain why this is happening? I can see no logical explanation for this, and it's a big issue - My client primarily uses Safari, as they're Mac based.

Jun 9, 2010I have a validation method which passes the control of a failed validation ( IE TextBox in the Gridview row ) to a method which adds a validationError style.This all worked fine until I decided to use declarative css styling on the properties of the columns in the page IE Control-CssClass="someClass".
WHen I click the update and do find an error, I pass the control to have the validationError class appended. but it appears the declarative setting overrides this when it gets rendered.

Jan 6, 2010Editor-Control stops working when placed inside an ItemTemplate. See the example below. Editor1 is outside the ItemTemplate, Editor2 inside. When I remove the comments of Editor2, both Editors will not render correctly in the browser. Placing Width= and other properties did not result in a working editor-control.

Jun 20, 2010I am having big trouble with this issue, getting a message from IE that a script is being running for a long time and asking me to stop it myself.
The HTMLEditor seems to be uncomptible with this one.
I am also getting a very weak performance when adding this Ajax control.
I think this control is very heavy, but I'm not sure. If I am not wrong, this post I'm writing is inside the same control and I can see it takes time to load it in my page.

Aug 30, 2010If i use signs like ë in the HTML Editor, in IE, its ok, and works. But if i use ë in firefox in the same page with the HTML Editor. If i press safe the ë is converted to: � (copy past doesnt work well, but its a square if you put [] to each other). But how is this possible? And how can i solve this problem? In IE its working well, but 50% of the users of the system i build are using Firefox. So it should work in all editors.

I have a sample Microsoft Word document which has several paragraphs.
When I click the button "Paste from MS Word (with cleanup)" on the Editor, <br/> is inserted as the HTML instead of <p></p> i.e. HTML paragraphs.
I would like the MS Word paragraphs to retain their meaning and have a <p> instead of <br />.
(By the way, they are kept if I do a standard Paste, but then a lot of other obscure characters are inserted into the HTML)

In my CSS stylesheet I have general settings for the a tag, and several hundered lines later settings for ul li a.
Like this:

}
Firebug tells me, that first the color:blue is loaded, and afterwards overriden by color:red
So far I've always thought, that the order of loading css files and the order of style inside a single css file tell the browser how html elements should be formatted. Unfortunately I'm now experiencing it vice versa. how must I correct my style to achieve the a tag inside the li to be rendered blue and not red?

Mar 7, 2010I've got a dropdownlist control that the user can select an an employee name and that should then fill in the detailsview control with specific information about that employee.
My dropdownlist control works fine and I do have AutoPostBack set to true. For some reason my detailsview doesn't work. There's no error message. The detailsview control just doesn't show up.
