I have a asp.net web application that connects to a Oracle 10.2g database. If I'm running my site in the Visual Studio 2008 webserver everithing is ok, but when a publish it in IIS a get "System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater".
I added all the permissions for the ASPNET, Authenticated Users and even Everyone but still doesn't work.
I have no idea what else to try. It seems clear to me that this is an IIS issue as the site works well in VS2008 integrated webserver. I'm using IIS 5.1.

I have a web application that has been using the System.Data.OracleClient.dll for the past 3 years. Recently we've been having some performance issues on the database server and it appears that this app is now causing problems when connecting to our Oracle database.I've found an updated client at the Oracle website: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/dotnet/index-085163.htmlMy question is: Is it necessary for me to update to this new client? We are running Oracle 11g on 64-bit servers in a cluster. The app is running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit machine using ASP.NET 4.0. The app was built using Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite on a 32-bit machine. It was re-compiled on a 64-bit machine and imported into Visual Studio 2010 Professional in order to switch the target framework to .NET 4.0. Then it was deployed to the server. This basically updated the Web.config file for us, the rest of the site remains the same as before.

Getting the following error when browsing .net 2.0 application System.Data.OracleClient requires Oracle client software version 8.1.7 or greater.
I have setup a .net 2.0 application with oracle backend on windows server 2008 R2. I have oracle client 11g installed on the server for the application to talk to the oracle database. This worked well when the .net 2.0 application was hosted on windows server 2003 and oracle client 10g. But when it is hosted on server 2008 with new oracle client it is giving the above error when browsing the page. This error occurs when the connection is opened inside the c# code.

I have been using Gridviews throughout a website I am currently building, however one particular requirement is to display two tables side-by-side that butt up against each other for the purposes of data entry. One person inputs numerous entries on the LH table whilst a different person will respond to one or more rows in any particular order (ie row 2 may addressed but row 1 might stay blank for a period of days). As far as I am aware, a GridView (or two) won't suit this requirement for the reason (from my still new understanding of GridViews) of not providing the ability for a 'respondee' to address any row in any particular order. Whilst I could add a button to each GriView row which displays a detailsView/FormView horizontally in line, I would still have to populate the Gridview with empty rows for those rows not addressed plus this 'fudging' just doesn't bode well concerning DB management.
It just seems adding two asp tables side by side then somehow working out how to automatically present a new row for data entry for the left hand table and creating a second table being the same size as the first (according to its number of rows) would be the way to go, then the task of data gathering/uploading to the DB. How best address the requirement - there maybe better ways for facilitating data input as opposed to using side-by-side controls, however it is the clients request. Also I don't want to go expelling copious amounts of time to fully customize a gridview when simply creating some sort of dynamic table would be sooo much quicker and easier for this once off. I have tried some searching, however not knowing where to start is problematic as 99% Google results return GridViews (as you would expect).

I am currently using a number of query string parameters to pass some data from one page to a second page (the parameters hold confirmation/error messages to display in the second page), that due to a third party product can no longer work correctly in the production environment. The user completes an action on the first page, and is then transferred to the second page. What are the possible alternatives to use instead of a query string and GET - session variables, POST data, or something completely different?

I created a database with ID, Title, Content, Date, ImgLnks, Image and Imagecaption and i'm using ObjectDataSource to populate the data. The field "ImgLnks" displays a new blank window with URL. This column is entered as text, inserted into the database and displays as clickable link in the gridview. My question is, is there a way that I can put an Alternative Standard Text in this column instead of displaying the clickable link like [URL] etc.? Text like, "Visit Page".

Is that any multiview alternative? I am doing a project that have to load the data in to a content space. Right now I am using the multiview provide by asp + using ajax.net. but it seem like very heavy when I load that page. So is that have any alternative to doing this? I have a concept that like using the load php funtion calling~is that applyable in asp.net? I am new in coding~ the effect I want to do is just like the user profile page on [URL] by clicking the button list change it content without reload the whole page.

I stumbled into a problem which is that FindControl will only return a control in the ListView after the listview has been databound. Here is the code which is not working, and I'm getting the "Object reference not set to an instance of an object error" when I try to add the attribute to the control:

Any ideas on how I can elegantly fix this?

As a workaround for the fact that asp:Checkboxes don't have values, I am attempting to dynamically create the ID's of checkboxes in a DataList so that it inserts the primary keys into the control ID. This is surprisingly difficult.
I have placed a PlaceHolder in my DataList ItemTemplate, then in the ItemCreated I create the checkboxes using string.Format("Checkbox{0}", DataBinder(e.Item.DataItem, "ID")). The problem is that this only works in a non-postback condition, as on postback the DataItem is null. And of course ItemDataBound isn't called on PostBack so that won't work either.
I can't seem to find a good way to handle this short of if (IsPostback) dataList.Bind(), which i don't think is a good way to do it.
Can anyone provide me with any alternatives here?

Did you have any issue to show background images in a gridview with IIS 7. I've exactly applied this [URL] and I've no idea why, my css works for the header but not for:
PagerStyle-CssClass="pgr"
AlternatingRowStyle-CssClass="alt"
The alternative row has no background image and the pager too but it works for the header. But when I browse the website online from my laptop, without IIS it works fine. When I check web developer tools from i.e., I've the backround image written in the css so it should come up.

currently, I am working on the project where I have to configure Application on IIS7 with network drive and doing this I am getting the error regarding security. Let me explain in detail. We have two production server, both having Windows 2008. now one server acting as the storage server and other server will work as web server which having the IIS (here IIS7). Now, I have to deploy the application on the storage server and in web server I have to configure the application in IIS with the path of network drive (here network drive means path of the folder at storage server). At here I had provide the full path like \ servernamedrivename$foldername, and also provide the credential at "connect at" button. Now when I open the page it will display the page but with the following error.
Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed. Now new question that Credential is proper or not? Here my both production server having the user : username1 and password: Password1 but the domain is different. So, what I do that enter only the username1 in user name and password1 in password box.

It generate the following error before showing the update page correctly. It seems I have issue to retrieve the null value from the database through using objectdatasource through dataset. Any suggestions? An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code

One of my classes currently is a C# class. I was given a small assignment for creating a bare-bones Facebook clone. I am now ready to list wall posts on user's pages.Having just been taught about DataLists (using tables), I thought I'd use one. However, I'm told "The messages list must be displayed without using table tags (<table>, .<td>, etc.)"
This is not really a coding question, just asking for a recommendation on how I should go about displaying posts without tables while still easy on the eyes (including name, the poster's picture, the message, and a date).
