Build A Specialized JQuery Timer?

May 10, 2010

I have an asp.net page where two grid views are available showing current stock market price updates. I need to update these two grid views every 20 seconds. So I was thinking of using JQuery to do this job.What I need is a timer which will fire every 20 seconds, send an ajax request to the servers, bring the order lists from the server using json and then update those two grid views. If a request to the server is still being served 20 seconds after it is fired, then I want the old one to be aborted without causing any trouble.I already know how to bring objects using json. I just need to figure out how to send a request every 20 seconds and cancel a request if it is still being server for 20 seconds.

Forms Data Controls :: Timer Control Timer Event Forces A Gridview Databind Every 10 Seconds?

Nov 25, 2010

VS2010 ( Vb.net ).I have a masterpage that contains a gridview, giving stats and information on client files sent to us. This gridview is updated by means of a timer control every 10 seconds. In my grid I have an image field, to display either a tick .. if everything is ok or a cross for any problems.When the timer control timer event forces a gridview databind every 10 seconds.When the page first loads, i get the default red Cross in the gridview imagefield, however when the timer loops forces a 'databind' I lose the redCross and it is replaced with the default image control ( as if no url is set ) . Then I get a server 404 error.I am using the OnDataBound event to fire my vb sub. I have commented out evertything just to get a solid starting point but im still getting errors.

AJAX - Client Timer Synchronous With Server Timer?

Apr 23, 2010

I'm searching for an example with an client timer that ticks synchronous with an server timer. Also there must be a button on the client side which can reset the server timer to an default value, and with this it also resets the client timer ofcourse. I tried it myself but it seems that there is some postback delay which makes it impossible for me to make it atleast look like it goes synchronous.

I hope somebody got an example for me, the button part is really important because by pressing that button the delay comes.

How To Build Widget Page Using Jquery, Json Object, And Xml File In .NET

Feb 12, 2010

I am trying to build a page which consists of different user controls which is divided in 3 columns.I have created a custom class for the page and widgets where the user controls will be loaded in. The custom class needs to be stored in an XML file, and using jQuery sortable for drag-and-drop functionality.At this point, my question is what is the best implementation for loading and saving the states of the page and widgets inside the page? I was thinking about using JSON and WebMethod for that, but I am still missing out the architecture on how I should build the page

C# - Prevent GridView Saving Data From Build To Build In Visual Studio?

Apr 1, 2011

I have a question regarding a situation that occurs with GridView, ObjectDataSource in ASP .NET application. The GridView is linked to the ObjectDataSource and both are included within an UpdatePanel letting the GridView to fill in an asynchronous way from a form in the same page so it gets more rows as the user enters the data:

<asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server">
</asp:ScriptManager>
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional">
<ContentTemplate>
<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False"
DataSourceID="ObjectDataSource1">
<Columns>
<asp:BoundField DataField="Name" HeaderText="Name" ReadOnly="True"
SortExpression="Name" />
<asp:BoundField DataField="Periodicty" HeaderText="Periodicty" ReadOnly="True"
SortExpression="Periodicty" />
</Columns>
</asp:GridView>
<asp:ObjectDataSource ID="ObjectDataSource1" runat="server"
SelectMethod="GetSessionNames" TypeName="Simulation"></asp:ObjectDataSource>
<asp:Label ID="Label27" runat="server" Text="Label"></asp:Label>
</ContentTemplate>
<Triggers>
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="NewWebSessionButton" EventName="Click" />
</Triggers>
</asp:UpdatePanel>

I start the project with Visual Studio 2008, fill the form and it works correctly. Then I stop the execution: rerun again and the data I entered in the previous run is in the GridView. Is like some sort of cache saved the data from the session before. I checked that EnableCaching property is set to false for the ObjectDataSource. If I Rebuild Web Site in Visual Studio (not just Build) then it works corretly leaving the GridView empty. Is this caused just becuase of Visual Studio? Can it be turned off? And will it happen in the final IIS it will run on?

Build Tool Which Can Build A Web App Into Multiple Dlls?

Sep 22, 2010

I have a large solution which has multiple apps which all share some common site elements (masterpages, navigation, etc).

Currently, all of these get built into a single DLL

If my structure looks like:

WebRoot
- Common/
- Shared/
- Images/
- App1/
- App2/
- etc

Is there a build tool which will allow me to build WebRoot.dll, App1.dll, App2.dll? I don't believe this is possible in VS2008 or the MSBuild tool.

How To Specify A Direct Build Name Directory Using TFS Build Of .net Web Application

May 11, 2010

I have a TFS build set up to deploy an ASP.net project to a test server.The build works great, and deploys to the test server fine, but instead of putting it into the Website directory that my IIS webserver is configured for, it puts the build into Website_20100511.6

Why is the date suffixed to the directory name? Is there a way to turn that off so I can publish directly to the Website?

Mar 4, 2010

How could I implement loading timer that are automatically appended to the each displayed page in ASP.NET and MVC?

I was thinking to implement it in Global.asax. To log the start of the request and and the end calculate a time and then smartly append it to output stream somehow. It could also be implemented in HTTP handler ...

I would like to know how to implement it in the most elegant way and to do the proper display of the result on the each page.

Web Forms :: Turning Off The Timer?

Mar 8, 2010

I think I know the answer to this, just want to make sure.

Question: there's no way to turn off a timer in ASP.NET on the client side (easily—I've seen the undocumented hacks on the net). Therefore, you have to set up you own logic client side while the timer is running server side, correct?

I went through these examples and understand them:

http://www.asp.net/AJAX/Documentation/Live/tutorials/IntroToTimerControl.aspx

http://www.asp.net/AJAX/Documentation/Live/tutorials/TimerControlWithUpdatePanelsTutorial.aspx

So, the pseudocode for a trigger done programically—so you do something when somebody clicks a button Button1 would be-- after you set up a ScriptManager, UpdatePanel and suitable ASync PostBack triggers in XAML (as per the above links) so that the Ticks event is triggered in the UpdatePanel:

public partial class MyWebForm : System.Web.UI.Page

{
bool myTriggeringBoolean; //used to turn off and on code in the Timer's Tick event [code]....
