In the future site, There are 3 main pages:
Homepage (Present all the New games etc...) Category Page (There are 9 games categories , it's present the games of each category)Game Page - in this page people can play the game, and see description of the game like description, date added, rating, etc... They can vote for this game too
Before I'm starting build it I have some questions.
1. I want the same Header, Footer and Menu in all the pages of my website.
How to do it: With Master Page?
2. In the Homepage I have:
Links + Pictures + Description of The 12 newest games of all the categories.
Links + Pictures + Description or of The Most Popular games of the Last week.
Links + Pictures + Description of the Last (newest) 6 Games of each category (there are 9 categories: action, shooting, sports etc...). But not games that existing in the (Newest Games section (the first section in this list).
How to do it? : With DataSet using TOP sql property???
What is the best way (for Optimum Performance)
And how to do the third section in the list, how can I insert the top games of all the categories, but not Games that presented in the first section? (I can't use normal sql SELECT because it will present the games that in the first section.
3. In the Category Page people can see the games of each category (there are 9 categories pages - for each category)... and people can order the games (date added, ratings, and popular games) by using "DropDownList".
And people can see only 30 games per page. So there are buttons of: next, 1, 2, 3 etc... (Of each order)
How to do it?? For example if I want the Action Category page order by poplar: using sql: SELECT top (30) ..... where Category='Actoin' ORDERBY Visitor_Count ??
How to do the paging?
What to use DataSet? DataReader? DataBinding?
4. And how to make the game page?
Using Query String? And select details from the database By the Game_ID of the Query String??
What to do if I want nice game's Url address? (from example the game Batman)

6. I want count the number of the visitor per page. I know How to do it. But how Can I avoid from double counting of each user per day?
What to do? use database table for list of ip address and this list will clear once a day ? (But if I have thousand of visitor per day can it reduce the performance of the server if the server connect to the database for using ip address for each time that someone visits any game?
Or using cookies? Or something else?
I wrote a asp.net website with Jquery. I was using it to post and get data's from the Sql Server database with Generic Handlers (.ashx). I also used Jquery Autocomplete plugin. Everything I wrote works just fine in the computer that I use. Then my company wanted to deploy the website to their server. When they run the website on that computer everything works fine including autocompletion but one part that i wrote doesn't function. I used in javascript code $.post and $.get functions and not working properly i guess... It works on my computer and i double checked the connection strings in the other computer to make sure that it is not a database problem. I couldn't find a solution. I am not allowed to give the codes in my company so i need to ask that may that be the cause of version of jquery i use? Does it vary depends on it? Because the computers that i tried to run the applications have different versions of internet explorer. Or I know it is nearly impossible but may jquery corrupt on changing of computers ?. I tried everything but I couldn't find a solution. The thing that confuses me is the autocomplete plugin of Jquery works just fine. The version of Jquery that i use is 1.2.6 and I use .NET Framework 2.0.

I am trying to write an ajax based tooltip for a website. The JS file searches the html page for certain keywords, which are fetched from an xml file. The keywords are searched using searchhighlight Jquery plugin. Then I use ajax to fetch the description of that keyword (or help) from aspx file(which just parses the xml doc for description of keyword)
I have been able to do everything except position the call to my mousehover functions. What has been happening is, when I hover over the first word, the tooltip gets displayed properly, but when I go over to the next word, the first tooltip gets displayed for a split second before the new tooltip loads. how to resolve the issue and make my code run smoothly? I created a number of standard WCF Services (Service Contract and Host (svc) are in separate assemblies). I fired up a Web Site in IIS to host the Services (i.e., address is [URL]). Then in my Web Site project I added the reference. I am able to call the services normally. I am needed to call some of the services client side. Not sure if I should be looking at articles calling WCF services through AJAX, JQuery, or JSON enabled WCF Services. Some of the changes I made was adding the following to the Operation Contract:

View 1 RepliesSo I have this idea of creating a asp.net user control, to handle all forms of modal popups (whether it be error handling, forms, dialogs, etc).
I already created this before, placing the user control in the top master page, exposing it to all content pages, so I could do something like:
Master.Popup.ShowException(Exception);
And the usercontrol itself would have the necessary markup to look like a modal dialog, and in the show method just do a .Visible = true.
This is all fine, but I've started thinking of implementing a bit of style with jquery. I'd like for the usercontrol to have some sort of jquery animation on show. But I don't know how to go about achieving this, as I don't know how I would call that jquery function from the codebehind instead of the popup.visible = true.
I have come up with a business idea that I would like to follow, which involves me creating a subscription website with multiple levels (I'm thinking probably around the 10 mark). While I'm pretty good with VB.Net and ASP.Net, I unfortunately have no idea how I might be able to go about creating a website that would require the user to pay a monthly/yearly subscription (which would be different depending on which level they wished to choose).

In this application, when I make two ajax call asynchrounoulsy that would not do as I expceted. what is happening is even the second ajax call finishes i can see the result when the maximum time out ajax call finished. I mean i can see the both results in the same time, not one by one. for an example. I have 3 pages
1) main.aspx - for make two ajax request.
2) totalCount.aspx - to find the total count. (max it takes 7 seconds to return, as corresponding table contains 3 lak records)

I have a file upload field, after the image was selected, i make a jquery ajax post to an aspx page's page method. My question is, how can I pass that image via jquery? When I do $(this).val() it only gets the file name. I want to pass the image object itself.
