I've been using an asp 3.0 widget for this purpose , but it been broken for a while and rather than get it back up, I'd love o get a native asp.net solution, can any one point me in the right direction pleaseI once wrote some asp.net code to do this, but the permissions on the server, which I found to be common every where prevented asp.net native picture upload, perhaps i got it wrong, well now I wanna fix itI need the code to work in a shared hosting IIS 7 environment. I use vb.net, but can usually convert c# to vb.net
My system: I have installed Windows 7, VS2010 and .NET40 and ASPAJAXExtSetup.msi I'm getting the error below.

I have a question regarding a situation that occurs with GridView, ObjectDataSource in ASP .NET application. The GridView is linked to the ObjectDataSource and both are included within an UpdatePanel letting the GridView to fill in an asynchronous way from a form in the same page so it gets more rows as the user enters the data:
I start the project with Visual Studio 2008, fill the form and it works correctly. Then I stop the execution: rerun again and the data I entered in the previous run is in the GridView. Is like some sort of cache saved the data from the session before. I checked that EnableCaching property is set to false for the ObjectDataSource. If I Rebuild Web Site in Visual Studio (not just Build) then it works corretly leaving the GridView empty. Is this caused just becuase of Visual Studio? Can it be turned off? And will it happen in the final IIS it will run on?
I want to build a survey system where you can build a form with questions and some answers to these questions and then members who will log in will be able to take the test.
Then i want to present the different results from the test in some diagram or something like that.
I have a TFS build set up to deploy an ASP.net project to a test server.The build works great, and deploys to the test server fine, but instead of putting it into the Website directory that my IIS webserver is configured for, it puts the build into Website_20100511.6
Why is the date suffixed to the directory name? Is there a way to turn that off so I can publish directly to the Website?
I'm trying to create a member section for my website and a non member section. I want the nonmember pages to have access to all the member pages but just not certain features like saving to the database. Is there a way to have the same page for both members and non members but have certain controls like buttons and other things that are only usable to the member that is logged in?
I have this error: The configuration section 'connectionStrings' cannot be read because it is missing a section declaration on my site when loading this page [URL]. The rest of the site works [URL] Setup:The server is a hosting company - Mocha Hosting. [URL] contains a phpbb forum. This has been installed via the hosting company's web tool (Plesk). There is a root web.config, but there isn't in the /forum/ folder. The forum folder has been set by the phpbb installation wizard to be a virtual directory and application - and it appears to not have asp.net configured on it. The forum worked BEFORE uploading the root web.config file, and again if i temporarily remove the root web.config.

I would like to add this section to my machine.config in exactly the same way many articles and microsoft are suggesting:
<configuration> <system.net> <connectionManagement> <add name = [URL]/> <add name = "*" maxconnection = "2" /> </connectionManagement> </system.net> </configuration>
[URL] As soon as I do it though, I get this exception when trying to hit a page hosted on the IIS on the same machine: Parser Error Message: Unrecognized configuration section system.net. Source Error:
Line 9: settings that differ from their defaults. Line 10: --><configuration> Line 11: <system.net> Line 12: <connectionManagement> Line 13: <add address="*" maxconnection="24" />
Source File: C:WINDOWSMicrosoft.NETFramework64v2.0.50727Configmachine.config Line: 11 Where is the problem and how can I modify the machine.config so that I can finally control the maxconnection value?
I have been asked to come up a with web page showing a map split into different sections. When a section of the map is hovered over or clicked it will be highlighted and specific information will show.What I would like help with is the map. First, how can I tell the page where the boundaries are of each section? Maybe I will need to add some code-behind that say when a coordinate contained within this area is clicked, apply this CSS class to these elements?Would this be achievable in C# code-behind or would Javascript be the only wa

I intend to around existing code snippet (updating a Hashtable) with lock() block to prevent multiple threads (launched by ASP.NET web site) from simultaneously updating a Hashtable.
Bc this is first time I do in this measure, I need your advice on
Any performance overhead caution caused by lock() Any other issues you ever experienced similar to this scenarios.
I've been asked to re-write an existing VS 2003 applicatoin in VS 2010. The application contains multiple sections that allows certains users the ability to edit based on security roles. Each user is able to view the sections. There is ton of code to enable/disable section permissions for each user. Is there a better option available in VS 2010? I'm not too familiar with MVC and not sure if it would work in this scenario - each section should be available when the users login.
I am wondering how to encrypt the below information in the "web.config" file of the "Account" folder (where we have the secured pages):
[Code]....
My issue here is that even after I compiled my application (using "aspnet_compiler -v /reports c: eports"), the information inside the web.config file of the Account folder still not encrypted, and I want to publish my site to the customer server. So, since this server is a customer server, then they can access this "web.config" file and change our web-application security behaviour (correct me if I am wrong). Basically, I don't want the customer to even have access to our secured pages when they access our web-application using the web browser. How to solve this issue?
The code I've used to get the HTTP Modules is basically
HttpModulesSection modules = ((SystemWebSectionGroup)config.GetSectionGroup("system.web")).HttpModules; // Depending on what we need to do... //modules.Modules.Add(CreateSomeModule()); //modules.Modules.Remove("SomeOtherModule");
This worked fine up until IIS7. The migration command %SystemRoot%system32inetsrvappcmd migrate config "website/" moves the modules into system.webServer, so my code is now updating the wrong section. Is there a built in way to get the proper module section that should be modified? Or do I have to add a check for the Request.ServerVariables["SERVER_SOFTWARE"] and return system.web/system.webServer depending on the string I get back?
I am referencing some classes in my _layout.cshtml file and I have the namespaces in my Views/web.config <pages><namespaces> section and the layout page does not resolve. If I put @using statements in the layout page, it works fine. Shouldn't the layout page respect the web.config section?
