Of course the Is Not Null doesnt work, is there something I can do to check:
1) if not null then set visible true
2) if null then set visible to false

Jul 15, 2010I have a DataGridView with a ItemTeplate column, which has a HTML hyperlink (<a href....>) inside. When a user clicks on a link, a popup with a TextBox is showed to the user. Then the user can type a data. With this data, I must update the hyperlink's text in which the user clicked. All using javascript. The problem is that I don't know how to find the Hyperlink because there will be so many hyperlinks as rows in the DataGridView and they will have the same Id.
How can i find the hyperlink using javascript?

Nov 2, 2010I have a Repeater displaying some data that doesn't do what I'd like to see. If a certain condition is met (ex: parent.NumOfChildren > 0) I would like a hyperlink shown. Here is what I have so far:

In this case, the "View Children" link shows up for every item in my Repeater, but I'd like it shown only if parent.GetNumOfChildren() > 0. Would it be correct to try setting the Visible="true/false" property of the HyperLink? Is that the norm for this sort of problem? Or, is there a way to wrap the entire <asp:Hyperlink> ... </asp:Hyperlink> tag in an if statement that has a reference to the object that is currently being interated in the Repeater? Ie:
if(CurrentDataItemInIteration.GetNumOfChildren() > 0)
{
<asp:Hyperlink> ..... </asp:Hyperlink>
}
To me, the Visible="true/false" solution seems cleaner, if possible.

Dec 12, 2010using a repeater to display multiple 'comments' related to a parent database entity (a 'task' in my case). When the user creates these comments they can optionally attach a file. Now, I'm working on the page that lists these comments and I'm not sure how to go about displaying the link to the attached file, if one is present. There may not be a file. The database record that contains the comment will also contain the url to the file if one was attached.
what are my options for this? I would like to just display a link to the file after the comment content, only if a file is available.

Can't Populate Update Parameters From A ListView's ItemTemplate
Mar 1, 2011I am using a ListView and would like to implement the switch from read only mode to edit mode for a ListView item on the client side. Some of this is discussed at: Inline form editing on client side
I am trying to do this by something like:

switchState is a Javascript function that simply hides/shows the DIVs with the readonly and edit classnames. In LinkButtonSave_Click I get the value from TexBoxName but it always contains the bound original value and not the edited value that was entered in the texbox.
Does ASP.NET not postback the textbox value because it is in the ItemTemplate or is it something else that's causing this problem? Could I use a Repeater instead to accomplish this?

Jun 10, 2010I have listview where every item has a textbox and next to it a button if you want to update the item. I want that every textbox default button(pressing enter) is the one right next to it. So i have a panel(pnlInput) surrounding the textbox(txtQuantity) and the button (btnCart). If i do nothing in code behind the default button for every textbox is the button of the item that was first rendered.
But then i tried in codebehind

How do I make it a member? When I do not put OnSelectedIndexChanged="DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged" in mark up, BC30456 does not pop up, but nothing happens when dropdownlist selected item is changed.

Feb 1, 2011This is a weird issue. I have a List view with 2 Link buttons. "Edit" and "Delete" Iam able to attach an event handler for the first linkbutton(Update). Code in the event handler executed fine. But If I try to attach a event handler for the second link button(Delete) , I get an error.
My Item Template Looks like this.
