C# - Changing Postback URL To Hide Default.aspx?

Jan 14, 2010

I am attempting to hide the document name from the user by using a folder with appending querystring in the following format:

http://localhost:53779/s/?x=FF2F60195B21487FA19A8EE7767A206C

When I post back the page, it directs it to the physical page:

http://localhost:53779/s/default.aspx?x=FF2F60195B21487FA19A8EE7767A206C

It it possible to motify the postback address so I can omit the default.aspx from the client browser?

Security :: Allowing Access To Default.aspx With Default Document Enabled?

Jan 19, 2011

I am trying to secure very mixed content that is located in an ASP.NET directory. For purposes of this question, it can be ~/MyApp/.

I want all of the content in the directory and its subdirectories restricted to authenticated users. The default.aspx page, though, should be accessible to everyone. This is the web.config in that directory:

[Code]....

Now if you are an unauthenticated user, everything works fine if you request [code]....

The problem occurs in that visitors do not always request "Default.aspx". We have a default document configured so that they get Default.aspx even if they just request "/MyApp". An authenticated user works fine, but an unauthenticated user is directed to the login page.

Now I know that essentially this happens because even though the request for "/MyApp/" will actually end up serving up "/MyApp/Default.aspx", the security system is only checking for "/MyApp/" since that is what I requested. That is then getting the default security for the directory.

How can you configure an exception to allow access when no particular file is requested in the directory??

Is there some dependency between DefaultDocumentModule and UrlAuthorizationModule? In this environment, the UrlAuthorizationModule has been removed and re-added in order to make sure it fires for non-managed requests. I would not expect that to change the order of execution, though, since UrlAuthorizationModule usually goes after DefaultDocument.

A workaround could be to set up the opposite security with the directory being open, and then trying to secure individual files. Because of the (changing) number of files, and extensions, etc, and the fact that you cannot use wildcards in a <location>, this is not really a workable solution for me.

Changing The View (.aspx) From The Code-behind (.aspx.cs) Class?

Nov 1, 2010

I have a 'classic' ASP.NET app (.NET 3.5) with a pretty standard runat="server" style form with server-side controls and an 'Execute' asp:button. In the code-behind, the executeButton_click handler processes some of the other controls, runs a report, and drops the result into an asp:label. So the effect of pressing the Execute button is that the entire page reloads with the report inserted into the label.

I need to change this so that when the Execute button is pressed, the report pops up in a new window with a different layout (ie without the controls and form). If I was doing this in an MVC framework I would just change the view template in the 'execute' action, so the analogue for ASP.NET would be change the code in front, ie the .aspx file that gets used, from the code-behind class.

Is this possible? I know the link between the .aspx and the .aspx.cs isn't extremely tight as it is possible to reuse a code-behind class in multiple .aspx files. So can I set the .aspx file to render from the code-behind?

Security :: Only Allow Logged In Users To View Default.aspx, And About.aspx?

Nov 28, 2010

First of all, thank you for the attention.

I am having some trouble, I am very new to asp.net, and the last problem I had, I spent about 59 hours trying to solve, Now I have a new one !

:D well, I guess this is part of the learning process...

Well, in Visual Studio 2010, I clicked New Website. @ C# language, ... The template it gives is pretty nice, it creates a database MDF file, and a login/register setup ready to go !...

You guys can see it live AT CLICK HERE ...

Everything is working, well at least here at the local machine...

There are 2 pages in there, Default.aspX, and About.aspx ... I want to allow ONLY logged in users to view those 2 pages... I tryed a few things, added my account to a role called ADMIN,

In the web.cong I changed Allow"*" to allow"ADMIN" ... still didn't work.. Also, I was trying to avoid using roles for now, and I was trying to find a way to do this for individual pages in the same directory as well... If possible with out touching the web.config file...

Web Forms :: Code For Changing The Default Title Tag?

Aug 13, 2010

We have recently bought a website that was programed in .asp. Every website page has a line of code that allows it to use the Meta title tag found in the 'Maincontent.master' file.
This sample is taken for the about us page;

<%@ Page Title="" Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MainContent.Master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="AboutUs.aspx.cs" Inherits="AboutUs" %>

I want to each page to have its own unique title tag, however I am struggling to implement this. I have tried removing the above line and replacing it with a standard title tag line i.e. <title>About us</title> but when I do this it kills the page completely. how I could replace the above with a unique title tag, or is it not that simple? Descriptions and keywords are not a problem as they are already individually setup; it's just the page title

Changing Document Library Default View?

Jul 22, 2010

I basically have quite a large site collection with various site and sub sites that all contain their own document libraries. I need to change the default view of each document library to include the following fields:

Checked out to.

Check in comments.

This is ok as I have written an app that will loop through all existing lists and do this however is there a way I can change the template for a document library so that any future lists that are created will automatically contain these two fields in the their default view?

I am using WSS 3.0.

Changing The Default Appearance Of Disabled Buttons?

The application Im working on has a navigation menu that uses buttons that are pure black with no edges. This means that it is quite hard to tell if a button is disabled or not, based on the standard changes to a disabled button. Is there any way to change the appearance of the buttons when they become disabled; changing the background color, for example? If so, how do I go about it?

IIS7 Rewrite Changing Default Button?

Apr 23, 2010

I've run into a strange problem regarding default buttons in master pages and IIS7 rewrite module. All my content pages have default buttons set in the code-behind (on prerender), or they are in panels on the aspx page. This works fine on my local machine and on the production server. However, when I enable IIS7 URL Rewrite, the default button is always to the one in the master page.

protected void LoginButton_PreRender(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Button btnDefault = sender as Button;
this.Page.Form.DefaultButton = btnDefault.UniqueID;
}

That's how I set my default button in the code-behind. I'm not sure what the rewrite module could be doing.

Web Forms :: Changing Mouse Pointer To Hourglass And Change It Back To Default

Feb 3, 2010

I like to change the mouse as hourglass when the user click on the "search" button until the data is loaded in a datagrid. Then change the cursor back to default. I found many posts to change the cursor to hourglass but found nothing to change it back again to default after firing the button code. So I tried the following in the page_load() event,

btnFind.Attributes.Add("onclick",
"document.body.style.cursor = 'wait';");
dgResults.Attributes.Add("OnDataBinding",
"document.body.style.cursor = default;");

It works fine, the mouse changes to hourglass when i click the button and then once the datagrid is loaded it is changing it back to pointer but when i move the cursor it is again changing back to hourglass. it looks like it is working but not.

C# - Changing Page Contents On Postback?

Aug 9, 2010

I have a survey, where you have to click through several pages with questions. I use a "Next" and a "Previous" button for doing this. I use a session for keeping tabs on my position. However, this is a problem.

I use the button_click event to increment the page counter, but since this fires after the page_load event, nothing happens on the first click, and for every click thereafter everything is one page behind because the questions are rendered before the counter is incremented.

Is there any way to solve this without using the query-string?

Comment response 10:15:

My understanding is that the following happens:

The first page loads and the counter is not set. The counter is set to 1. The first page is displayed. The user clicks the "Next" button, firing a postback. The page loads, displaying the same set of questions, because the counter is still on 1. The buttons Click-event is run, incrementing the counter. However, the page is still displaying the old questions.

After this everything is one page behind because the questions are rendered before the click-event is fired, incrementing the page counter.
