View 3 Repliesi'm looking for a free asp.net library for converting html in pdf, xls formats?
View 3 RepliesI've already seen lots of posts on the site for RTF to HTML and some other posts talking about some HTML to RTF converters, but I'm really trying to get a full breakdown of what is considered the most widely used commercial product, open source product or if people recommend going home grown. Apologies if you consider this a duplicate question, but I'm trying to create a product matrix to see what is the most viable for our application.
The converter would be used in an ASP.NET 2.0 application (we're upgrading to 3.5 shortly but still sticking with WebForms) using SQLServer 2005 (soon 2008) as the DB.
From reading a few posts, SautinSoft appears to be popular as a commercial component. Are there other commercial components that you'd recommend for converting HTML to RTF? Price does matter, but even if it's a little on the expensive side, please list it.
For open source, I read that OpenOffice.org can be run as a service so that it can convert files. However, this appears to be only Java based. I imagine, I'd need some kind of interop to use this? What .NET open source components, if any, are out there for converting HTML to RTF?
For home grown, is an XSLT the way to go with XHTML? If so, what component do you recommend for generating XHTML? Otherwise, what other home grown avenuses do you recommend.
I have a upload function where the user uploads the songs.....right now I am only allowing
mp3 formats.Is there a way we can convert other file types (WMA) on the server?And I also need a converter which converts video files to FLV?
I have this simple class:
[Code]....
The Type Descriptor is not really implemented:
[Code]....
Now I have the following wacky behaviour. If I return false from CanConvertFrom (for a string as sourceType) i end up with a populated instance of PageState (no other method on the type convertor are called!??) If i return true I get a null ref for my PageState and still no other methods on my type convertor are called.I just implemented almost the same thing for another simplish class and it worked as I would expect (returning true from CanConvertFrom results in ConvertFrom being called). What's going on?If it helps this is the signature of the Controller Action:
[AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)]
public ActionResult List(int? clientId, bool? canLogon, PageState pageState)
I am implementing a type convertor for this class because in this case I am not passing any of the value that make up a PageState and I want a null reference instead of a class with all default values.
I wanted to convert my rate field by using one dropdownlist to convert it. Eg, if the dropdownlist selected on japan, when the user select and change to malaysia the rate field will automatically change to malaysia rate from japan rate.
View 1 RepliesHow do I write a timezone converter library in c#? or is there an existing timezone class I could use?
I will need the timezone database and be able to use it to calculate/convert from one UTC timezone to another timezone.
do you think it would be difficult to write a framework where mvc compares last html it output to the current html we want to output, and instead of sending the entire html, figure out what has changed and generate js code that will do the updating as compared to previous html? (presuming nothing was manually changed on the client using js).
View 2 RepliesThe following seems reasonable, but it returns an error:
<asp:Repeater ID="RepeaterF" runat="server" DataSourceID="DSF" >
<ItemTemplate>
<%
If Eval("Item_Batch") = 0 Then
%><tr><td></td><td colspan="2"></td><td></td></tr><%
Else %>........
Error: "Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control."
I am finding it difficult to accept that the whole Repeater approach has any benefits over just creating a loop in code, iterating through a recordset, and building a html table into a variable, then dumping it to the page. This repeater is spawning pages of code and objects, and surely this is all using up server resources.
how can i passing a value form ActionResult to html.textbox or Html.TextBoxFor in View
View 2 RepliesI have to break a HTML content string in to multiple lines. And each line should have some fixed characters, 50 or 60 Also I don't want to break the word..or html tags...
ex : <p>Email: <a href="mailto:someone@gmail.com">someone@gmail.com</a></p>
<p><em>"Text goes <font color=red>Hello world</font> Text goes here and Text goes here Text goes here 1976."</em> </p>
How can I acheive this in C#?
I am working on an ASP.NET MVC 2 project with VS 2010 and out of nothing I get the following errors on my views:
The name 'Html' does not exist in the current context
The name 'Model' does not exist in the current context
It is like it is not recongnizing the MVC Html and Model classes.
I have System.Web.Mvc on my references and on Web.Config I have:
[Code]....
I want to catch the html button click event on a class file including html text box value..
[code]....
I think I need to drop in some escape characters, but I'm not quite sure where. Here is the javascript function I'm attempting to call:
function setData(associateValue, reviewDateValue) {
var associate = document.getElementById("Associate");
var reviewDate = document.getElementById("ReviewDate");
associate.value = associateValue;
reviewDate.value = reviewDateValue;
}
Here is the asp .net mvc line where I'm attempting to create a Radio button with a click event that calls the above function and passes data from the model as javascript parameter values.
<%= Html.RadioButton("Selected", item.Selected, new { onClick="setData('<%=item.Associate%>','<%=item.ReviewDate%>' )" } )%>
The above throws a bunch of compile issues and doesn't work. A call such as the following does call the javascript, but doesn't get the data from the model.
<%= Html.RadioButton("Selected", item.Selected, new { onClick="setData('item.Associate','item.ReviewDate' )" } )%>
<%= Html.RadioButton("Selected", item.Selected, new { onClick="setData('item.Associate','item.ReviewDate' )" } )%>
<% String functionCall = String.Format("setData('{0}','{1}')", Html.Encode(item.Associate), Html.Encode(item.ReviewDate )) ; %>
<%= Html.RadioButton("Selected", item.Selected, new { onClick=functionCall } )%>
I have some data which is HTML format saved in database. Like the chat as follows.

But it gets saved in some HTML format in Database as follows.
[code]....
So, Is there any ways that I can show this in Text box as what I need. While debugging the code, when I did HTML Visulaliser, it showed me correct format. How can I achive this in my Textbox control.
I have a Microsoft MVC project with an action "Foo" whose view ("Foo.aspx") contains the lines:
<%= Html.ActionLink("mylinktext1", "bar") %>
<%= Html.ActionLink<MyController>(x => x.Bar(), "mylinktext2") %>
When I hit this from a web browser or load it from an AJAX call, it properly returns:
<a href="/bar">mylinktext1</a>
<a href="/Bar">mylinktext2</a>
But when I call the action from another view like this:
<% Html.RenderAction<MyController>(x => x.Foo()); %>
Then the links are rendered without targets.
<a href="">mylinktext1</a>
<a href="">mylinktext2</a>
Why would this be happening, and how do I work around it?
Can I integrate Html.CheckBoxFor and Html.LabelFor to create the following:
[Code]....
What type of variable should I pass in the model to hold the choises?
I have a textbox which I need to enter html code into (like < strong> or < em> for example).The trouble is this is causing an error writing this back to the database. A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client (tbVOther="< strong>testIs there a way around this without turning off the request validation setting?
View 3 RepliesI am attempting to replace this god awful collection of regular expressions that is currently used to clean up blocks of poorly formed HTML and stumbled upon the HTML Agility Pack for C#. It looks very powerful but yet, I couldn't find an example of how I want to use the pack which, in my mind, would be a desired functionality included in it. I am sure I am an idiot and cannot find a suitable method in the documentation. I had the following html:
<p class="someclass">
<font size="3">
<font face="Times New Roman">[code]....
When I utilize the HtmlNode.Remove() method it removes the node plus all it's children. Is there a way to remove the node preserving the children?
Whats the difference between Url.Action and Html.RenderActionLink in asp.net mvc?
View 1 Repliesanyone knows how to replace a html tag in a string with specific characters:
e.g.
string s1 = "<span style="italic">inluding <span style="bold">other</span> tags </span>";
string s2 = "<span style="italic">inluding </span><span style="bold">other tags </span>";
i want to replace "span" with "bold" to "bOpen" and "bClose" and to replace "span" with "italic" to "iOpen" and "iClose" in both c# and javascript.
i did use regular expression to do that: res = Regex.Replace(res, ".*?", replaceHtmlBold); but it cant match the nested tag and none-nested tag at the same time.
is this right? i am trying to display value in input box dynamically?
can anyone advice me is this corect approach? but still I am getting here only + + in input box?
So, I am having a hard time getting this to work. I am trying to add some typographic HTML codes to some labels I have strongly typed to my model.
<%: Html.LabelFor(m => m.Name) %>
I am using data annotations to customize the DisplayName of the property:
[DisplayName("Your friend’s name")]
public string Name { get; set; }
However the actual code is being displayed for the label:
Your friend’s name
I have also tried just using the old write method:
<%= Html.LabelFor(m => m.Name) %>
It's a little unclear for me on when to use a custom helper method and when to use RenderAction and also when to simply use ViewData instead. Some of their functions overlap slightly.
For example, if I were to create a Category navigation bar, would I create a new helper method and place that in some partial view? I had initially though of doing this, but I read on some blog to use RenderAction instead.
Assume the list of categories is coming from some data source.
I have a comment form inside the blog posts. in the form, if the user is authenticated, I will assign the values of the user into textboxes. that part is as follows;
[Code]....
But when I add HTML.TextBox instead of HTML.TextBoxFor, I am not getting validation if the user erase the fileds. Also, this form is inside the indext page and it is related to another action as follows;
[Code]....
so I cannot assign ModelState.AddModelError from controller.
What should I do here.
<%= Html.RouteLink(">>>", new { page = (Model.PageIndex + 1) },null)%>
Is it possible to set image instead ">>>" and how?
