I have the following code on the client side for retrieving data from the HTML Table and then send it to the server through the page method:
[code]....
But I get this expcetion: Unable to evaluate expression because the code is optimized or a native frame is on top of the call stack.
how to handle this issue?

I have a asp.net page that generates a report. For better or for worse, the entire thing is generated using nested tables. I am able to export the page to excel, however I lose all my formatting (can't set column widths, etc). Is there a way to handle this? I'm open to adding any goofy MS Office -specific tags that are required to the html side of it.
If this isn't feasible and if anyone has any other ideas, the requirement is that users need a report that:
a) They can manually touch up with some personalization / area-specific data
b) Needs to be hide/show columns based on user's location
c) Needs to run from the web site.

I am using SSRS 2005.
I have a problem when I am exporting my report to Excel.
When exported to excel, I could see the table header on only the first page but not on all the pages. I have also checked the option "Repeat Header rows on New Page", but that didnt work.

I need to export asp.net page toexcel 2007. when i wrote the code as below:
protected void Button2_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) {Response.Clear();
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment;filename=FileName.xls");
Response.Charset = ""; Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.xls"; System.IO.StringWriter string
Write = new System.IO.StringWriter(); System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter html
Write = new HtmlTextWriter(stringWrite); div1.RenderControl(htmlWrite);
Response.Write(stringWrite.ToString()); Response.End(); }
publicoverride void VerifyRenderingInServerForm(Control control) {
} and
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="poprint.aspx.cs" Inherits="print_poprint" EnableEventValidation="false" %>
It displays message as shown
The file you are trying to open is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?
When yes is clicked it opens in excel but in some other format I think for I cannot AUTOSUM or sum the values result always as zero for numbers appears as text as " 222" . even if i try to format cells with numbers it does not works.

This is an ASP.NET web app built using VS2008. I created a standalone class with a method that exports the entire page, text fields, gridviews, images, everything to an Excel worksheet. It works fine. When I dropped the same class in another web app and tried to call it from a page, I get this error message:

I have a rendered html page which i am exporting to MS-word and downloading on a button click.
The code snippet in the button click.
Me.EnableViewState = False
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-word"
Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachments;filename=XXXXXXX.doc")
Response.Buffer = True
Response.BufferOutput = True
The functionality works perfectly well in FireFox & IE when i checked in system testing envirenment(locally).However when in was moved on to hosting server(production environment) the functionality is not working in IE , however it is working perfectly in FireFox.
I am not sure on where to check the exact issue for.Will it be any caching related problem?.
In IE it is just not opening the download window which we will obtain when the rendered html content type is changed and response stream flushed.No exception is thrown.
I received the following response header :
HTTP/1.0 200 OK
Cache-Control: private
Content-Length: 15189
Content-Type: application/vnd.ms-word;
charset=utf-8 Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.5 X-AspNet-Version: 2.0.50727
Content-Disposition: attachments;filename=NewAccountForm.doc X-Powered-By: ASP.NET

I've got an .rdlc report which I print from my .net app (C# Visual Studio 2005), where I use a RemoteReportPrinter object. I give it as parameters the server name, report name, report parameters, etc. Works fine. My question is, I would live to do an analagous export of that report to Excel. Set it up exactly the same, but have it export to Excel rather than print, probably using some other type of object than RemoteReportPrinter.

I'm exporting a Gridview to excel. I get all the gridview header and content in excel in addition to that i need to add a header text like report name in header of the excel sheet with line break in header.
I tried the solution in this link [URL] by adding
Table.Caption = "Header Text"
Table.CaptionAlign = TableCaptionAlign.Top
but i get error Reference to a non shared member requires an object reference.

when I used a code of exporting gridview into excel this code worked for a new website which is without masterpage.
my code:
public override void VerifyRenderingInServerForm(Control control) { }
protected void BtnGenerateReport_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
Response.Clear();
Response.Buffer = true;
Response.AddHeader("content-disposition",
"attachment;filename=GridViewExport.xls");
Response.Charset = "";
Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel";
StringWriter sw = new StringWriter();.....
Now the same code when I copy it in my project having masterpage . there is no compiler error but it is genereating excel file withno data in it but in fact there is data in the grid view at runtime.

I'm trying to export data from an asp.net page to an Excel file and I'm basically just outputting HTML to the XLS file and let Excel interprets it, by using this type of coding:
[Code]....
Although this is doing fine for exporting raw text, I now have to export to the same Excel file an image. However, the same kind of method I'm using right now only seems to insert a "linked" image, I mean, the image appears in the file, however, the user viewing the file has to be online since it's a direct link to the file in the server. I would like to able to "embeded" the image in the file, just like how it's made when you insert manually an image using Excel.
However, after some online research I can't seem to find any solution for this.
I can't use Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel library, and a third party software isn't advisable also, that's what made me try out the HTML output solution, which worked ok for the text. But now, for inserting an image, what can I do? Is it possible to achieve what I pretend?

I have some reports in my web application, there are such 6 reports in which data came from database , by some logic I added data rows and some dummy rows in beteen data rows like blank rows and heading of bunch of data rows like that so finally we get output as we want. Now i have to export all reports into excel sheet where each reports (all 6 reports) should put in different sheet in excel workbook. I can do for one report in which i just give HTML Table and render it in to .xls file but i dont know how to render second report in second sheet in same excle file.
I know if i have dataset we can put each datatable in dataset in different sheet but i can't use dataset or datatable because in reports depending upon logic i added dummy rows So i have to find the way to add HTML table in different sheets of same excel workbook
