C# - Formview Inside AccordionPane?
Feb 22, 2011I have a formview inside an accordionpane control. How can I retrieve the text value from a textbox within formview1?
--? TextBox start_date = (TextBox)FormView1.Row.FindControl("start_date");
I have a formview inside an accordionpane control. How can I retrieve the text value from a textbox within formview1?
--? TextBox start_date = (TextBox)FormView1.Row.FindControl("start_date");
When I add a combobox inside an accordionpane i cannot see the button and the list except for the pane selected by default.
View 5 RepliesI am having a problem setting up the width and height of my textbox inside of my accordion panel. Does not make any sense because my code executes correctly but then does not change the value of the control on client side.I pass a control into this function and iterate through the control to locate more controls.

I add a gridview into a accordionpane in a accordion. And I bind data to this gridview and define a column as a datakeyname and make it un-visible. However when I get the datakeys[index] in the behind code, there is an error that "Index was out of range".But I am sure the index is not out of the range, and when i debug i see the count of the datakeys is 0
I don't know why this error happens?
I am facing a problem concerning gridview inside AccordionPane:using Visual Studio .Net 2010 designing Asp .Net Web Application (.net 4) using ajax Control toolit (.net 4 and have tried with .net 3.5 version)
When I insert a gridview inside the an accordionpane content everything seems OK. However, changing the SQLDatasource configuration, or even the Griview's colums, no code is written in the aspx web page. That concludes to the fact that: in design mode i can see everything, at runtime nothing appears. In designer's view the gridview renders fine, but when at source view, nothing is written. If I change gridview's and SQLDatasource position outside the Accordion, everything is working perfectly, including the sourceview update in the aspx page.
i have a list of accordionpane as follows:
<cc1:accordion id="accordion1" runat="server">
<panes>
<cc1:accordionpane id="pane1" runat="server">
[code]...
now i want to make the top corners round for the pane1 only. can any one please guide me how to do it?? how can it be done by ajaxtoolkit RoundedCornersExtender?
I have the following (abbreviated) code:
<asp:FormView ID="FormView1" runat="server" DataKeyNames="ItemID" DataSourceID="LinqDataSource1">
<EditItemTemplate>
<asp:DropDownList ID="ddlCategory" runat="server" SelectedValue='<%# Eval("Category") %>'
DataSource="<%# GetCategories() %>" DataTextField="Text" DataValueField="Value" />
</EditItemTemplate>
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:ListView ID="lvParticipants" runat="server" DataSource='<%# Eval("Participants") %>' >
<InsertItemTemplate>
<asp:DropDownList ID="ddlCountry" runat="server" SelectedValue='<%# Eval("Country") %>'
DataSource="<%# GetCountries() %>" DataTextField="Text" DataValueField="Value" />
</InsertItemTemplate>
</asp:ListView>
<ItemTemplate>
</asp:FormView>
When the FormView is in Edit mode, ddlCategory is populated as expected by calling GetCategories(), which returns a List of categories. However, when the ListView is in Insert mode, ddlCountry is empty. I put a break point in GetCountries(), but it never gets called. If I change the name of the method, I get an error. So it recognizes the method at compile time, but does not call it at run time. I'm guessing this is an embedded binding issue of some kind, but I'm hoping someone can save me a lot of time by pointing out the solution.
Hello all i have this little issue getting this to work, i have a dropdownlist in asp.net inside a formview and jquery cant find the control im guessing because its inside a form, this is what i got and it works on another page without a formviewi get this errorName 'Country' is not declared

I am trying to access the value of text box inside formview control but getting "object reference not set" error on line:
varCompanyAddress.Text = userProfile.BusinessAddress

I have an ASP.Net webpage which I intend to use for letting the user(not the real users, but content manager basically) insert and edit the records in a table using a FormView. This FormView is inside an UpdatePanel, as I'm also using cascading dropdownlists to let the user select some values. Now, this FormView also contains 4 FileUpload controls, and as you might know that these fileupload controls require a full postback since most browsers do not let Javascript access the disk. So, this problem would have been solved by doing something like:
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">
<Triggers>
<asp:PostBackTrigger ControlID="InsertButton" />
<asp:PostBackTrigger ControlID="UpdateButton" />
</Triggers>
<ContentTemplate>....</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
Edit: Forgot to add that the fileuploading takes place in the OnUpdating and OnInserting events of the SqlDataSource. The Problem: Since the InsertButton and the UpdateButton reside inside the Formview, I cannot directly access their ID's through markup. And MSDN says that: Programmatically adding PostBackTrigger controls is not supported. A workable solution for me was to set the UpdatePanel's PostBackTrigger as the whole FormView itself:
<asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server">
<Triggers>
<asp:PostBackTrigger ControlID="FormView1" />
</Triggers>
<ContentTemplate>....</ContentTemplate>
</asp:UpdatePanel>
But now due to a bit of change in requirements, this solution(if you call it a solution) is not acceptable.
I have a Tabcontainer which contains formview1 in first tab and formview2 in second tab. I am not able to give Control based where Selectedvalue condition for formview2 datasource. I mean VS2008 is not picking it up automatically when I try to configure where condition. What should I have to do to make formview2 to make it working.
View 3 RepliesI have a FormView inside a user control, and in the InsertItemTemplate, I have an AsyncFileUpload control, that I would like to to use. On the user side, it seems to work, but it doesn't work on the server side code behind. The HasFile Property is always false, and it doesn't fire the UploadCompleted event either. My UpdatePanel is in the master page.
<asp:FormView
ID="frmAddImage"
runat="server"
DataKeyNames="imageID"
DataSourceID="sqlImages"
Width="100%">
<InsertItemTemplate>
<cc1:AsyncFileUpload
runat="server"
ID="FileUploadImage"
Width="400px"
UploaderStyle="Traditional"
CompleteBackColor="Lime"
ErrorBackColor="Red"
onuploadedcomplete="AsyncFileUpload_UploadedComplete"
UploadingBackColor="#CCFFFF"
/>
I have a dropdownlist inside a formview and I'm trying to do something on the selectedindexchanged event. but I'm getting the following error:
It looks like it can't find the dropdownlist because it is inside the formview. How can I find the event?- if there is such a thing.

I have a checkbox and a panel inside of a FormView control, and I need to access them from the code behind in order to use the checkbox to determine whether or not the panel is visible. This is the code that I originally used, but since I put the controls inside of the FormView, it no longer works.
Protected Sub checkGenEd_CheckedChanged(ByVal sender As Object, _
ByVal e As System.EventArgs)
If checkGenEd.Checked = True Then
panelOutcome.Visible = True
Else
panelOutcome.Visible = False
End If
End Sub
I've started to figure this out based on other questions I looked up on here, but all of them were in C# instead of VB, so this is as far as I got:
Protected Sub FormView1_DataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles FormView1.DataBound
If FormView1.CurrentMode = FormViewMode.Edit Then
End If
End Sub
So yeah I'm not sure exactly how to finish it. here's my code now:
Protected Sub FormView1_DataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles FormView1.DataBound
If FormView1.CurrentMode = FormViewMode.Edit Then
CheckBox checkGenEd = formview1.FindControl("checkGenEd");
Panel panelOutcome = formview1.FindControl("panelOutcome");
End If
End Sub
It's also saying that checkGenEd and panelOutcome are not declared. I changed my code to this but it still doesn't work:
Protected Sub FormView1_DataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles FormView1.DataBound
If FormView1.CurrentMode = FormViewMode.Edit Then
Dim checkGenEd As CheckBox = FormView1.FindControl("checkGenEd")
Dim panelOutcome As Panel = FormView1.FindControl("panelOutcome")
If checkGenEd.Checked = True Then
panelOutcome.Visible = True
Else
panelOutcome.Visible = False
End If
End If
End Sub
There aren't any errors anymore, but nothing happens when I click the checkbox. I think there needs to be some kind of event to trigger it but I don't know how you can put an event handler inside of an event handler.
I am trying to use a tabContainer and two tabPanels inside a ItemTemplate of a Formview.
As soon I put them in the ItemTemplate I receive the following error on the formView control in design view:
"There was an error rendering the control. Could not find any resources appropriate for the specifie culture or the neutral culture. Make sure AjaxControlToolKit.Properties.Resources.NET4.Resources was correctly embedded or linked into assembly AjaxControlToolKit at compile time, or that all the satellite assemblies required are loadable and fully signed.
I have a scriptManager tag in the master page and an updatePanel in the content page.
I have tried to use CreateUserWizard control inside Formview to avoid manual coding. CreateUserWizard control is a member of InsertItemTemplate of FormView control, I have bounded all the input controls inside CreateUserWizard to database fields but when I click on create user button I get following exception
SQLBindParameter not used for all parameters
after getting through some links I got to know that this may be beacause of mismatch between no of ? marks with specified insert paramters.
I have a panel inside a formview that is supposed to become visible when a checkbox (also inside the formview) is checked. I am able to access the controls, but I'm not sure how to actually make it work. This is my codebehind so far, I know it's not right, but it gives a basic idea of what I'm trying to do.
Protected Sub FormView1_DataBound(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles FormView1.DataBound
If FormView1.CurrentMode = FormViewMode.Edit Then
Dim checkGenEd As CheckBox = FormView1.FindControl("checkGenEd")
Dim panelOutcome As Panel = FormView1.FindControl("panelOutcome")
If checkGenEd.Checked = True Then
panelOutcome.Visible = True
Else
panelOutcome.Visible = False
End If
End If
End Sub
let me know if some body tried to use a cascading dropdownlist inside a formview to be used in update and insert templates.known that my tables are like this:
Section:
SecID SecTitle
Category: [code]...
I need to create a formview to insert and update all my news but I need a cascading Dropdownlist to select a section and generate the related categories Note that I need to display the Sectoin and the Category Titles
I have a fairly simple form:
[code]....
However, once the update is finished (and I call e.Cancel = true), the LoginView control does not databind its children... so they are all blank. The FormView's viewstate is still fine, as all the rest of the controls outside of the LoginView appear fine. I even handle the FormView_DataBound event and a Trace shows that the FormView is being databound on postback.
Why then is the LoginView not keeping its ViewState/being databound? Here's a sample code snippet showing the flow:
[code]....
In the website I'm building, I have a form that allows new users to register. Part of this page has mandatory address fields, and I use a postcode lookup field which returns a SuburbID and FullSuburbName (Suburb, State & PostCode) to a RadioButtonList inside an UpdatePanel.
[Code]....
I then handle the insert process in codebehind, and all this works perfectly on my New Account page.What I'm trying to do now, however, is replicate this functionality in the Edit Template of a FormView on my Manage Account page. The idea being that the user can view their current details in the ReadOnly view, then switch to Edit view to change their address (amongst other details of course). When the FormView changes to Edit mode, it should display the user's current PostCode in the textbox, and the RadioButtonList should display the available Suburbs for that PostCode, with the user's current SuburbID as the initial SelectedValue. If the user changes the PostCode and hits search, this refreshes the RadioButtonList with the new list of Suburbs, and once they have selected a new SuburbID this should get written back to the DB with the rest of the form (when they click Save I mean), using the SQL Data Source Update element. However, I simply cannot get this to work inside the FormView Edit Template and
So far, I have tried to handle the FormView's ItemCreated event and populate the RadioButtonList with the Suburbs that match the user's current PostCode, but if I do this with SelectedValue='<%# Bind("SuburbID") %>' in the RadioButtonList, I get the error "Databinding methods such as Eval(), XPath(), and Bind() can only be used in the context of a databound control."If I then change it to have the SelectedValue populate from the codebehind, this works on the initial switch to Edit mode, but when the user changes the PostCode and hits search, I get a different error "'rblSuburb' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items."My thinking was that rather than binding the RadioButtonList I would just add the new SelectedValue in the SQLDataSource_Updating method, but it doesn't seem to like that either.
have a gridview inside a formview is it possible to show running totals in the gridviews footer section? the gridview is populated with two parameters outside of the formview. Im using .vb
View 2 RepliesI trying to save clients IP address who are submitting the data on my website. I have downloaded an example and implemented. That scrip displays IP address on the webpage. I can submit this to sql table through code behind. Now I want to use same script in FormView and I am unable to bind this with the text box as it is showing an error "The name IPaddress does not exist in the current context". My code is as under :
<script runat="server">
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) {
string IPAdd = string.Empty;
IPAdd = Request.ServerVariables["HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FOR"];
if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(IPAdd))
[CODE]....
I saw the example here [URL]
These work if the textbox is not in formview. I have the textbox which is in the formview. I can't get dynDateTime() to get it working when my textbox is in formview control.
How do I access a specific control within a FormView's "<InsertItemTemplate>"?
View 2 RepliesI have a webform that has a formview (fvwContract) and inside itemtemplate there is a Tabcontainer with three tabs (invoice (spanish: factura), receipt (spanish: recibo) and beneficiary (spanish: beneficiario). I have another formview inside invoice tab (fvwFactura) with many textboxes that I need to manipulate in code behind. The thing is that I can´t reference any of them like the following:
protected void DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged2(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
AjaxControlToolkit.TabContainer container = (AjaxControlToolkit.TabContainer)fvwContract.FindControl("TabContainer1");
FormView myforma = (FormView)container.FindControl("fvwFactura");
TextBox txtdos = (TextBox)myforma.Row.FindControl("txt2");
Label lbldos = (Label)myforma.Row.FindControl("lbl1");
lbldos.Text = "sample1";
txtdos.Text = "sample2";
}
I just don't know how to reference any control inside frwContract.TabContainer1.fvwFactura
