C# - Gridview Column That Changes When Required?

I need to have a GridView listing all invoices of an account. Each account can have a PDF generated for that account, which isn't done instantly - so I need a gridview column to update the user of the progress of this conversion - i.e. 'In Progress'. Then, when the conversion is done the cell's text should change to a hyperlink to the PDF file. I know it's a very vague question in regards to monitoring the state of the PDF, but I'd just like to know if AJAX would be a solution and what controls I would use.

As per my requirement, I am getting CompID, Company Name and URL from SQL database. I want to display just CompName and URL in gridvew. So, I need to hide the CompID in gridview. One way I can do BoundField field Visible to false but I need to retrive that compID id when user selected any of the row. if I set visible to false user wont see any compID in gridvew but I want access the selected compID also using SelectedRow.Cells[1].Text..

I have a gridview which displays following columns:
TaskID, TaskDescription, IsComplete, DateOfCompletion
Now what I want to achieve is, when user clicks IsComplete checkbox, she must enter the date of completion. So, I want a validation (client side) on DateOfCompletion if the checkbox is selected (checked). And, I also want to use Validator Callout Extender
if possible.
How can I achieve this?

i am using the required field validation and Reqularexpressioncontrol in gridview. Fields are in the gridview are in template, but only the edit button it is not templeted, this edit buton is of type Imagebutton and same goes with canel and update.
1_ Do i have to use the Templeted fields for edit/cancel/ and update as well in order to use the validation?
2_Validaiotn should only work when user clicks on the Update button, it should not trigger when cancel button fired.

I have a gridview that contains a textbox, a drop down, and a checkbox. The commandfield of the gridview has ShowEditButton="true". All of the gridview updating takes place in the "_OnRowUpdating" event. I have a Panel above the gridview with a table and some fields. Everything in the gridview works perfectly, the edit, the update etc., however, when I add a requiredfieldvalidator to the panel above the gridview, the gridview update functionality no longer works. e.g., clicking the update button does not appear to fire. If I comment out the requiredfieldvalidator, everything works fine.

I have a gridview on my aspx page having templatefields. In one of my templatefield i have a textbox with requiredfieldvalidator for validating input in textbox. I have another templatefield having checkbox in it. Now i want whenever user check the checkbox and then click on insert button, then first of all requiredfieldvalidor validates the textbox input for that particular row and then perform the insert operation. I m trying like this-My aspx code-

in my module there are data of students for H.S.C., C.E.T, AND H.S.C+C.E.T. so when i run the gridview page all the data of all streams together is displayed so i sort the data using a dropdownlist...means if 1 select the H.S.C in dropdownlist only the H.S.C students are being displayed.so the problem is when i sort the data by selecting a stream in dropdownlist at that time the error message of required field validator is displayed...
1) I wil select the stream from Dropdownlist and click the "sort button"
2) After the data is been sorted and i will enter the values in   the TextBox and if i'll miss any of the textbox blank and i click on the "submit button" after dat the error should be displayed
as "Required".

I have a scenario which is there's a gridview with remove button and also a textbox.
Example:
The value of textbox is 2, and rows of gridview is 5 so the rows from 3-5 will be highlighted. And if the user removed the first row, the highlight should be follow. The highlighted row now is 3-4.
The remove button is jquery also.
