C# - Recursively Extract Dynamically Created Controls In A Repeater, Part II?

To be fair, this is a part two follow up to Using C# to recursively get a collection of controls from a controlcollection. - and rather than heap another question onto the old one, I created a new one. Here is the code that I'm using:

private void GetControlList<T>(ControlCollection controlCollection, ref List<T> resultCollection) where T : Control
{
foreach (Control control in controlCollection) [code]...

and is involked like this when the form is submitted

List<CheckBox> checkboxes = new List<CheckBox>();
GetControlList(RepeaterCapability.Controls, ref checkboxes);

I don't get any results when I clearly added several during the repeater OnItemDataBound event.

What I am trying to achieve:I am trying to take the value of the selected index and depending on what this value is (e.g. the case selection in the code below) run a different query on the dataset and then create a repeater control dynamically to output each row with an item template
that I can use css to style.

In other words: When a user choses a list item it shows only rows from the dataset that match the list item chosen. For example if a user choses Closed Tickets they only see rows from the dataset that have a STATUS of 'CLOSED'.

What I have done so far: [Code]....

What I'm struggling with at the moment is:

1) That the case selection works but the selection of the appropriate data from the dataset doesn't seem to be happening. And this data isn't getting stored in rows as I had hoped.

2) I'm not sure entirely how to display the dynamically created repeater control in the admin.aspx page.

C# - LinkButtons Created Dynamically In A Repeater Don't Fire ItemCommand Event

I've got a repeater that's used to display the output of a dynamic report that takes criteria from webcontrols on the page. Within the repeater's ItemDataBound method I'm adding controls (Linkbuttons for sorting by column values) dynamically to the header of the repeater based on values selected in a checkbox list and at this point setting the CommandArgument and CommandName properties of the linkbuttons.

The issue is that when the linkbuttons are clicked they don't fire the ItemCommand event although they are clearly being correctly created and added to the header (there is some additional code to set the cssClass, text etc. and this works as expected.) The first column header in the repeater is set in the markup and the itemcommand event fires correctly on this one only. When the other column headers are clicked the repeater rebinds as programmed, but the columns are not dynamically re-generated.

I have a page with a couple of RequiredFieldValidators, each in its own ValidationGroup. One of the RequiredFieldValidator controls is inside a Datalist and the submit button triggers the relevant DataList_ItemCommand. It works just dandy until I add the ValidationGroup to the button, at which point clicking on the button no longer fires the DataList_ItemCommand event. Here is the HTML

Note that the ValidationGroup name is there, and it is unique. No other ValidationGroups exist with that name. As it stands, this code does NOT fire the DataList_ItemCommand event, so no update occurs. However if I remove the ValidationGroup declaration from the Button control, the event fires properly.

i have a repeater with a button in the footer template which i want to be able to update any of the items that are added (update quantites/totals/delete the item). however the 'UpdateOrderDetails' event never fires when the button is clicked. here is the code within the repeater...

Repeater data rendering problem

im using Visual Web Developer Express2005 and language: VB

Example Image of my forum thread that im working:

i encircled in color red the part where i assign the 'content' as you can see above.here EXAMPLE of code in my repeater that populate a <td>(inserting data FROM my database) from my TableField('content')

the part that i encircled in the image above was the data on my tableField named--> 'content'.

The idea was to show not the whole content but to show Only some part of it. example is to show only the 1st 300chars or 100 words.

i tried this code which shows the fist 1-100 chars. [Code]....

Problem is the data i stored in the TableField('content') has other html tagsExample my Tablefield('content') has the following data.

I'm creating an quiz application which queries the database and extracts the questions and choices. I use dynamically created controls such as a checkbox list and fill the values dynamically. How do I do this? Right now I have these functions:

array_random_init(); this creates a 10 element integer array from 1-20 - extract_question(i): this extracts a question indexed at i in DB, I created the controls and set the appropriate text in this function. - validate_question(i); this is called by button_click and validates the question i according to DB.

I understand I have to recreate the controls in Page_init on postback, but what should it look like? Do I need to add "if IsPostBack" in page_init, or do I create the controls in page_init() and reset their properties in page_load when I use extract_question(i)? Also, I cannot seem to clear the selected boxes on postback, I added page directive "enableviewstate=false" but it doesn't work.

I have an .NET 4.0 / C# web application that contains pages with GridView controls on them. There is an Entity Data Model and EntityDataSource objects that allow for CRUD operations against the database. My questions are the following.

How can I setup the delete command in the GridView to delete recursively, given my setup? In otherwords, how do I cause it to delete the record selected as well as any records related to it, and any records related to those, and so on? Also, how do I incorporate verification of deletion before deleting? What I would ultimately like is a 3-button window to pop up. "Delete", "Delete Recursively" and "Cancel" would appear. I'm also open to other suggestions for a better way to do this.

I'm having trouble retrieving the value of a cell in a gridview.

I think it may have something to do with the item template calling a function since I am able to retrieve the values of cells that are not calling a function in the same gridview.

Cannot Find Selected Value Of Dynamically Added Controls In Repeater / How To Dynamically Add The Controls

I am creating a survey page that has a list of questions and answers that can be radiobuttonlists, checkboxlists or textboxes. These controls are added dynamically to a Repeater in its ItemDataBound event using Controls.Add.

I've managed to render the page ok but when I submit the form and iterate over the controls in the repeater to get the selectedvalues of the radiobuttons and textbox values, FindControl returns null. What do I need to do to get get the selected values? I've tried iterating over the RepeaterItems but that returned null too. I've tried different types of FindControl but it never resolves the control types.

It works if I add a declarative DataBinder in the Repeater like this

In my code behind (c#) I dynamically created some RadioButtonLists with more RadioButtons in each of them. I put all controls to a specific Panel.What I need to know is how to access those controls later as they are not created in .aspx file (with drag and drop from toolbox)?

Dynamically Created Controls And Postback

I know this question has been asked thousands of times, and I've struggled with it before, but for some reason, I can't accomplish what I want to accomplish... I have a dynamically added LinkButton that when clicked will dynamically add a control (in this example, a textbox) to the same panel. The intent is to continuously add on as many controls as times the LinkButton was clicked (i.e. I click it once, one box, then another click will give me 2 boxes, another click adds a 3rd). In the code below, I use the current date and time serialized to create a unique ID for each textbox control.

When I execute the code, clicking "Add Filter" will generate a new textbox, but once clicked again will create a new one, and dispose of the one before it. Instead, I want to persist the previous textbox as well as any data submitted within it.In the aspx:

I have a website that sales associates access to view account information with clients. S.A's can only view information for accounts that they are tied to. Some clients have more than one account, S.A's can be tied to more than one account, but not all accounts of one client need to be tied to one S.A.

On the account info pages, I have account numbers (dynamically displayed labels) displayed of other accounts that the account client is associated with, which the S.A's can see. I'm modding this so that if the S.A has viewing permissions of any of the other accounts on that list of accounts, that instead of a label being displayed, a button directing them to that account page will display instead. In order for this to work, I have to attach a security function to the button, otherwise the page will blow out on the S.A's.

So I'm running a piece that is displaying a button instead of a label, which is working fine. My problem is when I try to attach the security event to the dynamically displayed buttons. It seems that the page just posts back and doesn't execute my code at all.

On my Page_Load, I'm running this after the buttons and labels are displayed:

I need to create web controls (e.g. label etc) dynamically.The problem is that for example,

on my onload event, I create a label. The text of the label is read from one line of a xml file.

But sometimes the text should be like " Messages (4)", in which the message count is something not generic and need some logic to calculate. I tried to put things like "Message (<#% MessageCount %>) " in my xml file, but the displayed text label is:

Message (<#% MessageCount %>) instead of Message (4 ).

How To Use Partial Caching With Dynamically Created Controls

I have a control declared with PartialCaching attribute, like this:

[PartialCaching(60 * 60 * 12)]
public class MyControl : Control {
// control contents ...
}

but I create it in code, using new keyword. The problem is that if the control is in cache I must not create the control again the next time, but I need to add the control to the page hierarchy, otherwise nothing is going to be rendered. What I need in pseudo-code is something like this:

var ctl = ???; // something that represents the cached control
// e.g. could be: new LiteralControl( myControlCachedData ) [code].....

i wrote a function to create dynamic table in code behind on selectedindexchanged of checkbox,that is when user will check 2 checkboxex 2 tables will be generated with textboxes,Then on button click i want insert values of these textboxes in database,for that i want to find textbox using findcontrol,but i could not find it,

So i called same function of table creation on page load,but then it shows error that textbox is having duplicate id

Positioning Dynamically Created User Controls

I have a set of dinamically created User Controls on the page. They are pretty small 170X120 px in size, but when the page is displayed, they are all one under the other. All styling is default, which means they should be positioned in normal flow. Is there any way to place them next to each other. This is not a problem when I dinamically create for standard controls, like a button or an image. Why the user control is different. This is the markup behind the control:

I was looking through my transcender exam kit for 70-562 and they say load dynamically created controls in the loadviewstateEvent. This should be CreateChildControls() instead, no?
