Most succinctly, my question is whether an ASP.NET 4.0 app running under IIS 7 integrated mode should be able to honor this portion of my Web.config file:
I'm experimenting with mixed mode authentication (Windows and Forms - I know there are other questions on S.O. about the topic). Using IIS Manager, I've disabled Anonymous authentication to auth/windows/winauth.aspx, which is within the location path above. I have Failed Request Tracing set up to trace various HTTP status codes, including 302s.
When I request the winauth.aspx page, a 302 HTTP status code is returned. If I look at the request trace, I can see that a 401 (unauthorized) was originally generated by the AnonymousAuthenticationModule. However, the FormsAuthenticationModule converts that to a 302, which is what the browser sees. So it seems as though my attempt to remove that module from the pipeline for pages in that path isn't working. But I'm not seeing any complaints anywhere (event viewer, yellow pages of death, etc.) that would indicate it's an invalid configuration. I want the 401 returned to the browser, which presumably would include an appropriate WWW-Authenticate header.
A few other points: a) I do have <authentication mode="Forms"> in my Web.config, and that is what the 302 redirects to; b) I got the "name" of the module I'm trying to remove from the inetservconfigapplicationHost.config file; c) I have this element in my Web.config file: <modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="false">.
I am using Microsoft Outlook interop to display email with filled out email addresses and attachment.
Now Everything works fine except one problem with Attachment. The problem is that I am getting attachment from other methods as Byte Array and if I am not able to pass this byte array as attachment to outlook object's attachment. I believe tt requires a physical file from disk. how can I conver this Byte Array to attach it with Outlook.Attachment object?
Here is my code. In this code, for now I hardcoded attachment from "C: est.txt" but I need to change it to Byte Array, I tried but its throwing error.how can I change it to Byte Array?
i am using System.Net.Mail for sending mail in asp.net.. how to delete attachment file after it is sent as attachment mail..

I currently have a page which displays a report of multiple tables with the data values in them based on two parameters selected in dropdowns.
Now, I need to generate the same report for each combination of the two parameters as a worksheet in an Excel workbook to be sent as an email attachment. This is to be automatically generated daily, and I'm using the Global.asax to do this task at 1 day intervals. So each sheet will display multiple tables, one below the next, just like they display on the web page where the user can go to view them on demand.
I've seen plenty of resources for exporting a gridview to Excel, where a user clicks and is prompted to download an Excel file, but this is different.
Is there any way to copy an attachment within an Outlook email and then paste it into a web control that will be able to upload it? I'm thinking no but if there is a way I haven't found it yet.

I need to password protect the file for security reasons. I have no clue on how i can do this in asp.net mvc.
How to Send Attachment as email with pre-defined names in Asp.Net ...I am not sending the mail with file upload control rather i am sending it with path on my database and file on server..The Email is working fine but the issue is that I want the Name of File As "Document" in Mail box,but its showing path as file name in mail box..
My requirement is like .... I have a text box for ToEmail address , another control is to upload "n" no of files. And a button to send those selected files ToEmail address which had entered in textbox.
I have an AJAX-heavy ASP.NET web application developed using .NET 4.0, using TFS as our source control. We recently upgraded our dev tools to use VS2010 and TFS 2010 exclusively, but now every time a file is checked out, we see visual studio reloading all the symbols, and all the sessions being dropped.
After putting some error logging code, we discovered the reason for the recycle is it reckons App_offline.htm is changing whenever we check out. This doesn't exist anywhere in the project, and my SO-fu has found some information about SQL Express making this file get created and deleted, so it's possible that's what's happening here.
It looks like I do have SQL-Express installed, but even disabling the services that are running, the problem persists.
Is there any way to stop a check out from adding/removing this file, if this is indeed what is happening? It's beyond frustrating to have the app recycle whenever I simply check out a file...
The subject of this thread is my question and I am really very sorry, I cannot brief it. I have generated the pdf file which contains text taken as input by various web-form and have saved it in my local drive then sended it to some email addresses. Now I want to know that how can I save it in client computer and send it to some email addresses provided by Client on demand? I am failed to solve this problem as I don't know how to get INFORMATION OF CLIENT'S LOCAL DRIVE AS CLIENT MAY USES DIFFERENT OPERATING SYSTEM.

i am sending a html file (attachment) using windows application, when i open the mail it will displays the html content including buttons, tabs, but i don't want to dispaly those buttons and tabs

I have a stroed procedure which is mapped in myEDMX file under EntityContainer >>Function Imports. When I add or remove a column from the stored procedure, I am not able to remove the old columns from the model. I right click on the stored procedure in Model browser and got to Edit Function Import. The return type is complex.
I select "get column information" and get the updated return fields but can not update the collection. It will work if I click on "Create New Complex Type" but it will generate a new name for the collection and the old collection is still in the mode. I even tried deleting and adding the stored procedures and can not get it to work. I can only edit the edmx.cs and the XML to remove it but there is got to be a better way.
