C# - Session Check Before Every Page Load?
Jun 10, 2010Is there a way you can call a function, or make a file that runs before every page load. I want to be able to check if they have a valid session before showing the page.

May 18, 2010i have an application and a user must log-in before he/she can access pages. now once the user logs in i keep the user details in a session variable (say Session["CurrentUser"]).now if a user tries to jump to a page directly i will check if the Session["CurrentUser"] has a value or not...if not then the user will be directed to the login page...my problem is that i have done this or rather say written this "Checking Code" on almost all the pages.

There are a lot of pages to the site so I was going to check for the session variable via the page load event in my mater page. However, on certain pages I use the session variable in that pages page load event. This throws an error when the session doesn't exist, but what I want is the master page's page load to fire first.

State Management :: Session Variables Destroyed With Each Page Load?
Apr 22, 2010I'm using the beta version of Visual Studio 2010. I'm running my ASP.NET 4.0 website through the debugger. Whenever there is a page load (e.g. clicking on a link, a postback) the session is ended and a new session is created. This wipes out all the session variables and makes debugging impossible. How to get session variables to persist across page loads?
Is this problem unique to running ASP.NET in a test environment or unique to the beta 2 version of VS 2010?

1) checking at the page level that the value is valid not 0 when its not expected to be 0, not a zero-length string when its expected to have a length
2) have code at the page level that sets the values if the values have not been set as when the Session timeout, ideally putting the code in a class derived from Page and then deriving all of my pages from the new class so that the code does not have to be repeated in every page

Nov 22, 2010Currently in an .aspx file, I am storing a value (filename that was created in that session) in an hidden text box. When the user clicks on the "Print" labeled Hyperlink control, it opens the file that was stored in the hidden text box control. But when the user goes to different screen (in the same session), I loose the filename value that is stored in the hidden text box control. So I would like to store the filename variable in a session variable. So that if the user leaves this .aspx file and comes back to this .aspx file I can load the value into the hidden text box from the session variable.

Jan 30, 2011I have a web site using master page and login page. I use the MasterPage to check the availability of a session. I'm coding with VB + MS Access database.I believe something is wrong with my master page and I can't figure it out. In the code behind of the MasterPage, I try to check the user session is available. If so, the user is still logged and get access to all the menu. If no session is available, it means the user is logged out and few menu as shown. Here is the code

Please note that my Login.aspx page is also base on the same MasterPage. On the Login.aspx.vb, if the user credential are correct, I did this:

So my logic is this: when the web site is launched MasterPage + Default.aspx load. So Sesson("MyLink") is empty. If the user's credential are correct, I create the session so the it can be available for MasterPage.My default menu isMenuPublic1, MenuPublic2, MenuPublic3When a user logged in, I add to the MenuPublic some reserved menu like below.MenuPublic1, MenuPublic2, MenuPublic3, Menu_Users1, Menu_Users2, Menu_Users3I'm testing my application on two different web hosting server: aspspider.com and somee.com. In the local, everything works perfectly fine.My problem is that on aspspider.com if a user logged in and then click on any MenuPublic, the application does not let him show information from Menu_Users. It's wrongly sending him to the login.aspx but still show his profil on the masterpage and the "welcome username" with beside the Logout link. It seems like the user is still connected but cannot have access to users pages.On the other server (somee.com), even if the user logged in successfully, I still have "welcome guess" with beside the Login link. I also have the user's profil information with all the links. If a user click on any MenuPublic, he can still see all the Menu_Users. But if he clicks on any Menu_Users, the application redirect him to the login.aspx; but still displaying all the information as if he is logged.The package deployed on both server is the same; except the connection string.FYI, I have Global.asa in the package but I don't use it. The web.config has plenty of stuff that came when I first start the project. The only thing I added is the connection string.

Jun 18, 2010I'm developing my first Facebook application in ASP.NET 2.0 and doing a simplest thing, that is, to show a navigation on top with four hyperlinks where each link targets to another .aspx page. How can I do this using FBML in ASP.NET 2.0?
Otherwise coming to my question, where I'm struck after trying above thing at myself and failed then had to go around the Ajax way of doing this. Now I'm using Ajax call over the onclick event of each hyperlink from top navigation and it's succesfully loading external .aspx pages (for example,[URL]. The problem is when user comes on the application on first time, it only shows the .aspx page which has a navigation and a Ajax content place holder which is programmed to be filled with contents on click event.
How to load Ajax contents into the Ajax content place holder on page load without a click event?
