View 1 RepliesI created a user control for my web application that checks for Session Timeout. If the criteria are met for Timeout, I use Response.Redirect to send the user back to the login page. I include this user control in my Master page, and run the SessionTimeoutcode in the user control's Page_Init event. That all works great. However, once the user logs in again after time-out (and I have verified that the OnLoggedIn event does fire) the user is redirected to the DestinationPageUrl. That page runs the Session Timeout check when it loads (as it should) and the Session Timeout code "says" that the session is still timed-out.
View 1 RepliesA long running background process creates a text file to indicate the completion of the process. From the frontend, I'd need to check every few seconds if the text file has been created or not.
I am doing this check from http://DomainA.com However the file is created in http://DomainB.com/Mytext.txt
write a jquery script that checks for a file across domain?
PS: Currently, I am doing a ajax postback that executes a WebMethod in ASP.NET that creates HttpWebRequest. This works functionally, but I have major performance problems. So, I need a light weight way of finding if a URL is valid or not.
I'm using ASP.NET Membership and Form Authentication and before redirecting to the returnURL I wanted to validate it. For those unfamiliar with the workflow, basically if you request a page that requires that you are authenticated, you are redirected to a login page. In the URL string you'll see a parameter called returnURL, e.g. [URL]
Whether you use this in a redirect such as Response.Redirect(returnURL) or indirectly through the FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage method, it passes without validating returnURL.
FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage does have a security check that it is isn't leaving the domain, but that still doesn't stop someone from putting enough random characters to cause an error.
I tried using System.IO.File.Exists(Server.MapPath(returnURL)) but given enough illegal characters it cause Server.MapPath to error.
Note: URLEncoding doesn't work because we are not cleaning a parameter, but the primary URL.
I want check that that provided Rss feed Link Is valid or not and is it working right now?

<asp:TextBox
ID="FromDateTextBox"
runat="server" />
<asp:ImageButton
ID="FromDateImageButton"

ImageUrl="~/images/calander.png" />
<ajaxkit:CalendarExtender
ID="FromDate"
runat="server"
TargetControlID="FromDateTextBox"
CssClass="CalanderControl"
PopupButtonID="FromDateImageButton"
Enabled="True" />
<ajaxkit:MaskedEditExtender
id="FromDateMaskedEditExtender"
runat="server"
targetcontrolid="FromDateTextBox"
Mask="99/99/9999"
messagevalidatortip="true"
onfocuscssclass="MaskedEditFocus"
oninvalidcssclass="MaskedEditError"
masktype="Date"
displaymoney="Left"
acceptnegative="Left"..........
I've set Culture="auto" UICulture="auto" in @Page directive and EnableScriptGlobalization="true" EnableScriptLocalization="true" in script manager to have client culture specific date format in my textbox.
I also have a Go button on my page on which I will do a partial post back. So, I want to validate the FromDateTextBox in javascript when the Go button is clicked.
UPDATE
I know how to create a javascript click handler. But because masked editor is already validating the date on focus shift, I'm thinking there should be some boolean property (like IsValid) exposed by it which will allow me to see if the text box contains valid date.
FURTHER TRIALS
I also tried below code and Page_Validators[f].isvalid always returns true even when the date is invalid and MaskEditValidator shows me a red star near the Text box.
function isDateValid() {
var b = true;
for (var f = 0; f < Page_Validators.length; f++) {
if (!Page_Validators[f].isvalid)
b = false;
}
return b;
}
$('#GoButton').click(function() {
if (!isDateValid()) {
return false;
}
loadProducts();
});
I have a form that when submitted shows a busy animation and disables the submit button.
Anyone know how to query Microsoft's Sys.Mvc.FormValidation to see if the form passed it's test so I can prevent the busy animation showing if the form hasn't actually been submitted? Or even some other work-around? In case it's relevant - I'm using Data Annotations for my validation.
At present my client side javascript looks like this:

Can we check that user entering an email id is really exists or in working???
View 1 RepliesI cache information about the currently logged in user in the session. This info lazy loads whenever a CurrentUser property on my global application class is used. It does this by calling GetUser() on my custom implementation of MembershipProvider, which either loads the user up from the session, or loads the user from the DB and throws the user object in the session.
How should I handle this scenario?
User logs in. Administrator deletes user (or deactivates...the point is they can't log in any more). User's session expires. User navigates to a page or makes a request, or whatever.
Currently if this scenario occurs, NullReferenceExceptions are thrown all over the place, because the ASP .NET framework calls GetUser() which returns nothing because it can't find the user in the database (and there's nothing in the session because it expired).
I am getting two identical errors message when I view my Web page in my browser:
Valid User Session Variable Not Found: System.NullReferenceException for this line:
Code:
Response.Write(Session("ValidUser").ToString & "<br />") <----------
and the same error for this line:
Code:
Response.Write(Session("strEmail").ToString) <-----------
This is the code in that page:
Code:
Protected Sub Page_Load(sender As Object, e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load
Try
Response.Write(Session("ValidUser").ToString & "<br />")
Catch ex As System.Exception
Response.Write("Valid User Session Variable Not Found: " & ex.ToString & "<br />")
End Try
[Code] .....
This the page that users are redirected to after logging on and, after verifying their credentials at the log-on stage, should show 'Hello DonaldDuck@Disney.com, Welcome to my website'.
Do these errors mean that the user cannot be validated in the database?
I am createing user dynamially with the below code; string MyPassword = Membership.GeneratePassword(8,0).ToString(); Membership.CreateUser(TextBox7.Text, MyPassword, TextBox8.Text); but before I start creating, I would like to check if the user name is used before or not.
View 2 RepliesI tried some code in Application_Error like this Session["mysession"] = "Some message"; but the problem is sometimes session is not available in Application_Error. So I want to check whether session is available or not.
View 1 RepliesHaving a very strange problem and just wondered if anyone could shed some light on it. I have a page that takes a file and posts it (using a flash control) to another page on the same site. Now this other paged is used simply to take the file from the request and save it to disk. However when i try and set a session value there the calling page can not access this session variable (no matter how long i do a thread.sleep. It is simply nit finding the variable.
When i looked deeper into this I ran trace.axd and much to my surprise the page that is called does not show up in the list. But it is defnitely being called as the file that the original page sent has been saved to disk.
Doing some work with Facebook connect/the RESTful API and for some reason i keep getting this error
Session key invalid or no longer valid As far as i can tell im authenticating correctly. Getting the session key from the cookie after the facebook connect dialog pops up and the user logs in. Then i open up the extended permissions dialog to allow posting events and offline access. But then if the user was to logout of facebook the session key becomes unusable. What am i doing wrong here? Is there any good examples of doing this with ASP.NET/C#?
I have a function inside a utility class which returns the current session User ID.
It throws object reference not set to instance of object ? How do I check it for null & remove this error ?
public static string GetSessionUserID
{
get
{
string userID = "";
if (System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Session["userID"].ToString() != null)
{
userID = System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Session["userID"].ToString();
}
if (userID == null)
{
throw new ApplicationException("UserID is null");
}
else
return userID;
}
}
Is there a way you can call a function, or make a file that runs before every page load. I want to be able to check if they have a valid session before showing the page.
View 4 RepliesIf i have a page in which I want to check whether session is null.
If it is null it will redirect to other page.
But i also have a if (!Page.IsPostBack)
so i will check the session inside this if (!Page.IsPostBack) or outside it?
Is there any possibility to check whether a particular session has got expired or not?
View 1 RepliesWhat is the function used to check a session exists or not?
View 3 RepliesI am trying to write a code that I can attach to a .aspx page using <!--#include file="newcode.aspx"-->. What I am trying to do is check to see if they have an current or active session and redirect them if they don't. It seems like this should be pretty
simple, but I have not been able to get anything to work. This is only being used on One page. What I have tried is:

View 6 RepliesI have a web site using master page and login page. I use the MasterPage to check the availability of a session. I'm coding with VB + MS Access database.I believe something is wrong with my master page and I can't figure it out. In the code behind of the MasterPage, I try to check the user session is available. If so, the user is still logged and get access to all the menu. If no session is available, it means the user is logged out and few menu as shown. Here is the code
[Code]....
Please note that my Login.aspx page is also base on the same MasterPage. On the Login.aspx.vb, if the user credential are correct, I did this:
[Code]....
So my logic is this: when the web site is launched MasterPage + Default.aspx load. So Sesson("MyLink") is empty. If the user's credential are correct, I create the session so the it can be available for MasterPage.My default menu isMenuPublic1, MenuPublic2, MenuPublic3When a user logged in, I add to the MenuPublic some reserved menu like below.MenuPublic1, MenuPublic2, MenuPublic3, Menu_Users1, Menu_Users2, Menu_Users3I'm testing my application on two different web hosting server: aspspider.com and somee.com. In the local, everything works perfectly fine.My problem is that on aspspider.com if a user logged in and then click on any MenuPublic, the application does not let him show information from Menu_Users. It's wrongly sending him to the login.aspx but still show his profil on the masterpage and the "welcome username" with beside the Logout link. It seems like the user is still connected but cannot have access to users pages.On the other server (somee.com), even if the user logged in successfully, I still have "welcome guess" with beside the Login link. I also have the user's profil information with all the links. If a user click on any MenuPublic, he can still see all the Menu_Users. But if he clicks on any Menu_Users, the application redirect him to the login.aspx; but still displaying all the information as if he is logged.The package deployed on both server is the same; except the connection string.FYI, I have Global.asa in the package but I don't use it. The web.config has plenty of stuff that came when I first start the project. The only thing I added is the connection string.
i am new in asp.net form authentication and sessions
i would like to know how to save session in masterpage or in global.asax and how to clear session.
how to better handle session timeout by redirecting to a page.
