C# - Set Tooltip Using Html Text?

need to set table cell tool tip from text like below. table created dynamically.
<div>Red - if > 1.5 % gross margin erosion</div> <div>Yellow - if >.5% - 1.49 % variance</div>
I need to remove html tags and show tool tip as below
Red - if > 1.5 % gross margin erosion
Yellow - if >.5% - 1.49 % variance
what i currently doing is
tooltiptext= System.Web.HttpUtility.HtmlDecode(tooltiptext);
and replcace DIV tags from string after asign it to table cell tooltip value.
this is working but is there any way to format html text and replcace tags on it other than above?

however when i edit the text as follows (making it bold and red in another gridview containing rich text editor)
i get the following (as a formatting result in the second grid view)
however when i view in the first gridview to display the tooltip i get the following result display the tooltip as rich text
although many people say that jquery is "very easy", i have really HARD TIME using it and i tried more than 10 times, always failed to make any use of it. i know it is my bad, but if you know other way not jquery

How do i set the size of the tooltip dialog box. the tooltip text must be displayed in one line rather than wrapping the text to other line.
in firefox and IE7 tooltip text is showed in one line but in IE8 the tooltip text is wrapped . i.e text is displayed in 2 lines.

I need to build a custom html helper that generates Label and a tooltip Icon(based on the Display(Name = 'MyProperty', Description = 'ToMyToolTip') attribute). This is how my helper looks like so far:

The problem is that the label have a attribute called "for", I need to set this also but do not find the value in the metadata object? Do I have to manually create the value to the "for" attribute? And if so, how is the best way to do that?

I'm using a lot of LinkButtons in my web application with text and images inside them. All LinkButtons are set with a ToolTip and all images inside the LinkButtons are set with an alternate text.

<img id="imgSearch" runat="server" src="../../../images/icons/magnifier-left.png" alt="search-something" width="12" height="12" />
</asp:LinkButton>
The problem is that in Internet Explorer the alternate text of the image is shown instead of the ToolTip of the LinkButton. In Firefox this problem doesn't exists, it always show the ToolTip of the LinkButton.
This is the produced XHTML:
<a href="javascript:__doPostBack('...','')" title="Search" id="..."><img width="12" height="12" alt="search-something" id="..." src="../../images/icons/magnifier-left.png"></a>
Is it possible to overcome this issue? Removing all alternate texts will resolve the issue but a better (more standard) way is always welcome!

In this section, I am trying to manually add in tabs and line spaces so the string is formatted when displayed via the pre tag. But this does not work.

I don't know how to get spaces, tabs, carriage returns into that string which are recognizable by the pre tag, as environment.newline and/or vbtab make no difference.

Is it possible to display HTML as text on your page in a formatted manner? For example, it should contain white spaces, tabs etc etc for readability purposes:

as part of my web app i have a series of buttons created using HtmlActionlink e.g

However my buttons need to be translated into difrent languages depending on the country the user is in Im translating the button lable text fine in my controller and passing it into the view , but now im alittle stumped over syntax Id like to replace "Swap User" above with
<%=Html.Encode(ViewData["swapUser"]) %>
but im failing miserably finding the right syntax

I am getting data straight from the database into a data source. The data is binded in a repeater with link buttons.
The problem I am having is that the data in the database might have multiple spaces in the middle of the string however when being displayed on the front end only space is being shown. After thinking about it this is standard HTML behavior to remove spaces, I would have assumed that asp.net would have handled this with the rendering of the webpage. What is also happening is that when reports are exported to excel it only has 1 space instead of two.
Example:
2 spaces: "South Africa - Cape Town"
single spaces: "South Africa - Cape Town"
This is an irrelevant example but my data has real use for multiple spaces.

I try to send an email with the html generated from an aspx file. But having this problem that only capture the aspx text not the html rendered by aspx. how can i do it , must use htmltextwriter? This is the code sample
