View 2 RepliesI've got a gridview in which I have a footer that I use to insert rows into the grid. However, if the grid is empty no data is displayed (including the footer). Is there a way to still show the footer row so a user can insert additional rows into the grid despite it starting out as empty?
View 5 RepliesI have a gridview with insert new row controls in the footer binded to sql datasource. I want to show the footer when the datasource is empty. Although the empty data template is there but any other solution you fellows can tell me ?
View 7 RepliesI am trying to show the footer template of a gridview on page load when there is no data in the database. The reason why im saying page load is that I have code to actually pull data from the database instead of a datasource.
View 15 RepliesThe datasource of the datagrid is a LINQDataSource which relies on the value of a dropdownlist. In addition, I want to use the footer to insert new records - so I'd prefer not to use the empty dataset template. I am trying to find a way to always display the footer regardless if the datasource is empty or not.
EDIT:
Is there a way to create an empty/invisible object of the type in the LinqDataSource?
How I can show header/footer of Asp.Net Gridview with empty data source?

View 4 Repliesi have a grid view and i want to show the sum of columns in footer.
View 2 RepliesI wanted to create CrossTab o/p as In Ms Access. tried couple of articles based upon coding in C# but in one way or other they could not give me final result. Then I posted here.
muhammedsalimp almost resolved my query. But only problem I am left with is adding a TotalSum to the selective columns in GridView or In SQL.
It can be seen from the screen-shot that columns 1-7 does not require sum but columns after 7 all will require sum as they are the Items passed their now will vary from day to day.
as all can see, i'm already able to create another gv that contains data selected by a checkbox from the first gv..
now is i want to show the image (from column tittled cover), also i want to sum the total of column 2 (ukuran) at the footer of second gv..
I want to create empty Gridview so that user can add values to that gridview . I dont want use any data source

View 1 RepliesI am using a Gridview with datasource is a List. How can I show the header if the List is null or for a empty gridview?
View 4 RepliesI have a customized gridvew i.e. grvResult. There is a textbox and a InsertButton in the footer.
If there is a data populated into gridview it is showing GridView footer and inserting data but if there is no data in gridview then its footer also not visible.
I have tried in two ways to make footer visible but it is showing following error:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Tried ways:

I have a gridview and i wanted to add a row when the gridview is empty, so that the header would be shown anyway. I have read about it on the web but i can't quite understand where exactly should i add the row.
My grid is binded by a sqldatasource. I am already adding a second header for the grid (to display some filters, and they need to be shown even if there are no results so that the user can perform another "search"), on rowCreated event, so, where am i supposed to add the row? Which events are fired even if the gridview is empty?
I am trying to populate a gridview using two tables. I also have a strongly typed dataset and used the method on this page: [URL] the problem is that, when i try to use two table the gridview does show up (I checked through debugging that the datatable comes back as empty).
View 2 RepliesI cant bind my Grid. I dont know what I am doing wrong, the grid appears empty when I run the program.
here is my code ::
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (!IsPostBack)
this.BindGrid(this.GridView1);
}......
I'm getting some Xml back from a service. I would like it to be the datasource of a grid view on my aspx page. Here is a sample of the Xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16" ?>
<ArrayOfTripTollCompleteDC xmlns:xsi=[URL]"
xmlns:xsd=[URL]>
<TripTollCompleteDC>
<TripTollId>5</TripTollId>
<DMSLaneModeID xsi:nil="true" />
<HOVOnly>false</HOVOnly>
<CreateDateTime>2010-06-07T15:54:01.023</CreateDateTime>
<ConfigVTMSDelaySeconds>5</ConfigVTMSDelaySeconds>
</TripTollCompleteDC>
and here is my code that parses the xml and tries to bind the grid. What am I missing here?
var retVal = service.GetTripDetailsByTripID(tripId);
var xmlTrips = XDocument.Parse(retVal);
var tripTolls =
from t in xmlTrips.Elements("TripTollCompleteDC")
select new {
TripTollId = (int)t.Element("TripTollId")
, DMSLaneModeID = (int?)t.Element("DMSLaneModeID")
, HOVOnly = (bool)t.Element("HOVOnly")
, CreateDateTime = (DateTime)t.Element("CreateDateTime")
, ConfigVTMSDelaySeconds = (int)t.Element("ConfigVTMSDelaySeconds")
};
grdTripDetails.DataSource = tripTolls;
grdTripDetails.DataBind();
I realize these are anonymous types. Is that a problem? I have verified the service is returning the Xml as stated above. Can anyone out there point me in the right direction? Just for completeness, here is the grid markup <asp:GridView runat="server" ID="grdTripDetails" />
I have an entity "Order", which contains a set of states. Every state has date and name.
I want show grid with all orders and in grid one column with last state of order. But I dont understand how to do it.
I have in my code a gridview that I redirect to excel, it works fine when I have data in the data set. waht I want is to show column headers when there is no data right now what i get is empty sheet.
View 7 RepliesI can't get this to work:
I have a grid view with several TemplateFields. A couple of them are set to Visible=False; each template field has an EditItemTemplate, an ItemTemplate and a FooterTemplate.
[Code]....
While in GridView_RowUpdating event, the value bounded to the EditItemTemplate is properly read
[Code]....
so, debugging ttbImp.Text = "4"; But when trying to get the value bounded to the FooterTemplate, the label contains no values.
[Code]....
so, while debugging, lblImp.Text = "";
why that? I believe it has to do with the hidden visibility of the field, but I can't understand why it reads the value inEditItemTemplate, and it doesn't in FooterTemplate.
I have a gridview with two bound fields. On clicking a button i want to display the values in first row of gridview in two textboxes. But if gridview cell is empty i am getting the text in textbox to which the value of cell is given as -' 'i know my problem will be solved if i use the template fields instead. But i want a solution while maintaining the bound fields ,if any.
View 2 RepliesI having problem to show footer template at data grid when there is an empty data. I need to show the footer template in order to let user input new record.
