During ASP.NET precompilation of our .NET 3.5 web application, various initialization is performed in type initializers. One of the type initializers throws a custom exception when the environment is incorrectly configured. However, when our custom exception is thrown, here is what the aspnet_compiler.exe tells us:
[exec] error ASPRUNTIME: Type is not resolved for member 'App.Project.CustomException,App.Project, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.
[exec]
[exec] [SerializationException]: Type is not resolved for member 'App.Project.CustomException,App.Project, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.
[exec] at System.Web.Compilation.BuildManagerHost.PrecompileApp(ClientBuildManagerCallback callback)
[exec] at System.Web.Compilation.ClientBuildManager.PrecompileApplication(ClientBuildManagerCallback callback, Boolean forceCleanBuild)
[exec] at System.Web.Compilation.ClientBuildManager.PrecompileApplication(ClientBuildManagerCallback callback)
[exec] at System.Web.Compilation.Precompiler.Main(String[] args)
Notice that no "real" stack trace information is included. However, when I change our code to throw an InvalidOperationException (instead of our custom exception), the stack trace is included correctly. (As an aside, our CustomException type is annotated with [Serializable]. When we remove the [Serializable] annotation, the aspnet_compiler.exe complains differently -- that our custom exception is not marked as such.) Does anyone know why throwing a custom exception during ASP.NET precompilation is causing the secondary SerializationException? Why is it trying to serialize the exception? Similarly, why does using a BCL InvalidOperationException not cause the secondary SerializationException?
Could this be because the aspnet_compiler.exe is trying to do some sort of reflection on unexpected exceptions? (And therefore since it does not have our App.Project assembly loaded, it is unable to resolve the type?)
know the difference between NGen and aspnet_compiler. Ngen create a machine native code which is cached to disk. aspnet_compiler precompiles the site. Isn't both the things same? I would be more interested to know when to use which tool?
The several different environments (e.g. live, demo etc) of my web app are differentiated by config settings in a folder called EnvironmentConfiguration. Whenever I update one of the sites, I delete the EnvironmentConfiguration folder from the precompiled site before copying the website files over (i.e. in order that the EnvironmentConfiguration folder in the deployment location is not replaced). Just to save mistakes, is there a way I can get Visual Studio not to produce the EnvironmentConfiguration folder when it precompiles the site for me?
I have a gridview which I'm trying to get the display of phonenumbers listed in a certain display format; (xxx) xxx-xxxx.If I have the code such as this, it displays the unformatted phone number and (000) 000-0000 for the null items.
I have an asp.net web site where I'm trying to resolve what looks like a problem with ASP.NET AJAX:
Microsoft JScript runtime error: Sys.ArgumentTypeException: Object of type 'Sys.Extended.UI.AccordionBehavior' cannot be converted to type 'Sys.UI.Behavior'. Parameter name: instance
I've googled around a lot, and looked at the code presented (see below, no idea what it means) but no luck.
I've tried changing scriptmanger scriptmode to release, and a bunch of other things too.
Details:
Visual Studio 2010 ASP.NET 4.0 Ajax control toolkit 4.0 jQuery 1.4.2 jQuery UI 1.8.5
JS Code the error occurs in, inside ScriptResource.axd:
dispose:function() { var c=this; b.UI.Behavior.callBaseMethod(c,eb); --------- this line var d=c._element; if(d) { var f=c.get_name(); if(f) d[f]=a; var e=d._behaviors; Array.remove(e,c); if(!e.length) d._behaviors=a; delete c._element } }
*Update: * Added accordion control declaration as requested, is there anything else I can add that could be useful?
Does anyone have any idea about this error at all - am I right in thinking it's MS AJAX not playing nicely with other javascript (probably jQuery UI) on the page?
I seem to be having issues with posting forms with DropDownLists. I've looked all over the net and tried various solutions, but none seem to work for me.
I'm getting the following error: The parameter conversion from type 'System.String' to type 'Models.Organization' failed because no type converter can convert between these types.
Here's my ViewModel:
[Code]....
Here's my controller:
[Code]....
The objects are generated by ADO.NET Entity Framework. Organizations is its own object, but also a property of Profile (each user belongs to one organization). Now I understand what the error message is saying, just not sure how else I'm supposed to do this.
I am LINQ querrying against a datatable. However, I am unsuccessfull with catching null values. Here is my code that is giving me the following error.
[Code]....
I am checking to see if minperc is null. However to check that it still is trying to convert the value to double. Cant figure out a way around it. Here is the error: Cannot cast DBNull.Value to type 'System.Double'. Please use a nullable type.
I am trying to insert a value in database from a dropdownlistddlvaue = 10.00 - 11.00in db asstarttime=10:00:00endtime=11:00:00using split function
string dropdownvalue = ddlduration.SelectedItem.Text.ToString(); string et = dropdownvalue.Split('-')[1].ToString(); endtime = et.Split(' ')[1].ToString(); starttime = dropdownvalue.Split(' ')[0].ToString(); I am joining date value + time value in the query uisng('" + datevalue + "' + ' ' + '" + starttime + "')
'2014-05-15' + '16.00' --> to get 2014-05-15 16:00:00
it is getting inserted successfullybut while selecting and viewing it from the database I am getting error as,
"Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type datetime"
If i mannually enter the date in db it is workingmanuall value=2014-09-30 14:00query value =2014-09-30 14:00
both are same but error is only occuring for query inserted value
I keep getting the above error whether I ran my asp.net solution from the IDE or publish it on IIS. I always Build before each one of these steps.
I have user controls inside web pages and have 4 different projects that each reside in its own folder.
I have a login page and main user page that are one project then the user on this main page can go to 4 different areas which are all separate projects in their own folders. Links on this page to these sections are as follows:
./MyYFolder/MyYMain.aspx
If user clicks they get the error. Bizarrely if I locate the page MyYMain.aspx in the root folder and change the path in that main page to:
./MyYMain.aspx
As a bright spark noted, my problem isn't that I'm getting no error under the 2nd scenario. My problem is that I'm getting an error under the 1st one.
How would one create a website that would look the same at any resolution? I've heard of making so it will fit for a 800x600 screen but then that just screws everyone that has a higher screen resolution. I've heard about using widths that use percentages and using iframes and things like that.
What's the best way to have one website fits all resolutions?
I built a new .Net website which will fit nicely on 1200px width resolution.The problem is that some of my users will browse this website with 1024px width.Is there a way to fix this problem quick without changing all the design of the page? For example, to put some javascript that will do the trick.Please keep in mind that the top banner of my site is 1200px wide, and I don't need to support less then 1024px resolution.
I'm working for a graphical company and I'm making a webapplication at the moment. In this application, users can upload images. Before I let them upload an image, I want to check the resolution of it (dpi = min. 300dpi). How can I do this?
On windows server 2008 can I have a web service or something I can query from a C# application as to the display properties (resolution (height & width)). The C# application does not run on the server so I cannot just detect it from the application itself.ddition to help explain why:I will have a user named "display" and that will be logged on displaying a website (on the server) and I want to be able to check the display from the desktop application so the user knows what resolution to design a template for. The resolution will change from different displays so it can't be a set value
I'm trying to resolve the AccountController in my application, but it seems that I have a lifetime scoping issue.
builder.Register(c => new MyDataContext(connectionString)).As<IDatabase>().HttpRequestScoped(); builder.Register(c => new UnitOfWork(c.Resolve<IDatabase>())).As<IUnitOfWork>().HttpRequestScoped(); builder.Register(c => new AccountService(c.Resolve<IDatabase>())).As<IAccountService>().InstancePerLifetimeScope(); builder.Register(c => new AccountController(c.Resolve<IAccountService>())).InstancePerDependency();
I need MyDataContext and UnitOfWork to be scoped at the HttpRequestLevel.When I try to resolve the AccountController, I get the following error:No scope matching the expression 'value(Autofac.Builder.RegistrationBuilder`3+<>c__DisplayClass0[...]).lifetimeScopeTag.Equals(scope.Tag)' is visible from the scope in which the instance was requested.
i am receiving the follwing error when i am invoking a custom object "Object of type 'customObject' cannot be converted to type 'customObject'." Following is the scenario when i am getting the error i am invoking a method in a dll dynamically. Load an assembly
CreateInstance.... calling MethodInfo.Invoke() passing int, string as a parameter for my method is working fine => No exceptions are thrown. But if I try and pass a one of my own custom class objects as a parameter, then I get an ArgumentException exception, and it is not either an ArgumentOutOfRangeException or ArgumentNullException. "Object of type 'customObject' cannot be converted to type 'customObject'."....................
have been trying to get to grips with the entity framework using the music store tutorial as a base reworking it to fit an existing application i havei have a database table called AuthorDetail. I also have AuthorDetail.cs Model, and a View AuthorDetail.cshtml strongly-typed to the Model. It's also declared as DBSet in the Entities class :DbContext under the application Models namespace.
I am trying to make pluginable architecture of asp.net mvc 3 application. I have some progress. But now i stopped on problem of strongly typed view whose the model compiled in assembly and not located in bin folder. So i load assemblies from places where modules located by MEF. Then i made my own ControllerFactory where i resolve types for controllers. And with controllers and actions everything is working. When i use custom view everything is great. But when I am rying to use strongly typed view I have an error
