How to call javascript function when using validation controls on GridView.
I am trying to call confirmDelete function on delete button of GridViews delete button. I dont have a code as of now. But when I was trying it was throwing an exception at javascript
I am using one datalist control for uploading multiple images.I hv used one Asp:FileUplaod Control and one button in one itemtemplate.I am using reqired field validator and regular expression validator for file upload cntrl I am assigning validation group for both of them on ItemDataBound event of my datalist so that each upload cntrl hv same validaton group as required field and regular expression validator.Now what i want to do is - i want to show my error message in validation summary which is right at the top of the page.I want one know how to write javascript that will assign validation group of my control in datalist on which i click ?

and I am trying to use the Edit function. In my gridview, there are numerous rows. I pick one to change and click Edit. I then see the boss name in my gridview and click "Change". When I click Change, I'm expecting two fields to appear, one is a label, the other is a DropDownList. I get this error when I click:

I have deployed application on server. i have a string in dd/mm/yyyy format. to which when i am trying to parse in datetime it is working fine on my server when i am working locally on server. but when i am trying it remotely(client) it is giving exception saying string is not recognized as valid datetime format. when a user enters a bad email I am doing a check on this and throwing an exception message as follows, this works fine on the test site but for some reason the same code on the live site gives a "internal server error" (http code 500). The code below:

not certain why this is happening, I assume that it's some server or config difference between the test and live sites. has anyone seen this before? For a quick fix i'm registering javascript alert and showing the same text so it works but I would like to figure out why the code above is not working.

Using "Enable Delete" from Gridview control, I can delete (besides, update, sort, paging, etc) data from the database (this is done automatically). However, how can I delete the actual image that resides in my image folder (i.e. from "pix" folder )? What is the best way to delete image? If using code behind, how? Please write a full code for me. I have a 3 level deep nested gridview. The expansion/contraction of each record was originally done with javascript. There were html <div> tags around each gridview. Since these were HTML div tags I could give them IDs that were dynamically bound to record ID value within the database. I then had onclick buttons that passed in a bound record ID value that coresponded to the appropriate div tag that needed to be expanded (e.g. display: inline (show it) or if it is already inline then display: none).
This worked beautifuly. Unfortunatley I wanted to be able to do in-girdview editing of the child records. When expands a parent record and clicks to edit a child record the OnRowEdit event fires which automatically generates a postback and resets the variables within the JavaScript. THEREFORE THE ENTIRE GRIDVIEW STATE BECOMES CONTRACTED.
So finally I decided to change the div tags to <asp: Panel> and the onclick images to .net clickable images (all .net objects no framework). This works because the state is remembered within each postback. However, the problem I'm having is I can't dynamically bind ID's for panel since this is not allowed. HOW CAN I GIVE THE PANEL <% Bind("id") %>. THAT I CAN REFER TO SO I CAN OPEN THE APPROPRIATE PANEL.
I have dropdownlist which items are generated using SQLDataSource. And there is a "Delete Button" next to it. When user selects item from dropdownlist and presses that button I want the item to be removed from DB. Here is the question "How can I achieve this using sqldatasource Delete Command?" I do can remove Item From Code Behind. But i believe it's more efficient to use sqldatasource delete command.

i have a proplem in asp 3.5 with an error of potintol dangoures elments so i added two lines in web.config file under

but gave me an error for <httpRuntime requestValidationMode="2.0"/> . it worked in asp 4.0 . so my question is there an equlivant of that line for asp 3.5
I've been searching a little bit to try and find the answer to this problem. As of right now another person I work with has designed a wizard step with an upload button in part of it. After the person clicks the browse button and selects their file a validation statement comes up saying, "Please click 'upload and continue' or clear the field" and then is supposed to disable the continue button until this is done. He started by adding a RegularExpressionValidator and found it did not solve his problem.
Now that he's out today we're working on trying to solve this and my first though is to actually use a custom validator instead and have it call a function in the back-code for validation which checks to see if the "Upload" click-event has happened. Is there an easy way of verifying whether or not a click-event has occurred. Basically my conditional is shown in the pseudo-code below...

I have a page here with a few list views on it that are all bound to Linq data sources and they seem to be working just fine.I want to add validation such that when a checkbox (IsVoid on the object) is checked, comments must be entered (VoidedComments on the object).

Despite there being a dynamic validator on the page referencing the same ValidationGroup as the dynamic control, when the exception fires, it's caught in JavaScript and the debugger wants to break in. The message is never delivered to the UI as expected.
