I am writing an online interface that will allow a site owner to modify files and directories on the server.
I have gotten inconsistent performance out of System.IO.Directory.Delete(PathToDelete, true);. Sometimes it works great, sometimes it throws an error. My controller looks like this:

I have disabled anonymous access in IIS. Also i have given Read & write access to the account tang09 for the website virtual directory and Microsoft.NET folder located in windows folder. But still i get prompted for the domain username and password to access the website.
I am using Directory entry of System.Directoryservices class of Asp.net for authenticating against Sunone LDAP server. The following works fine.

Now I want to be able to authenticate all the users of different organisation units. e.g. ou=development,ou=accounting etc., So I specified like this, entry.Username = "uid=thost,ou=people,ou=devlopment,ou=accounting, dc=domain,dc=com"; but it says "There is no such object on the server". I also tried putting ou in URL. I am not sure where should I specify this OUs to make my search broad. I found a lot on internet but no success so far.
I have a shared folder with directories on a remote server that I am trying to access with the method System.IO.Directory.GetDirectories(). This folder is based off of the credentials gotten from windows authentication. My problem is that everything works fun when I debug the Web Application in the built in IIS in VS, but when I set it up in IIS V5.1, it tells me that I have an invalid username and password. I am using Visual Studio 2005 on a Microsoft XP SP2 machine.

I couldn't find much useful information on resolving this error. Has anyone encountered and fixed this kind of issue before?

Problem: In test environment using VS development server, want to allow all users (will change to specific roles when implemented) to add and delete files from the directory App_Data. I can successfully upload files, but when I attempt to delete a file I get the error....
System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:Documents and Settings.......App_Data' is denied.

I have a subdomain on which I have put up all the js code for my webiste to interact with another application. For eg: at code.example.com Whenever, the user types this address,code.example.com, all the contents of the directory are listed. How do I prevent this thing? I do not have nay index.html or index.aspx here.
View 1 RepliesI have an asp.net web application that allows users to upload files to an 'uploads' directory that is located in the same virtual directory as the web app. Each uploaded file goes into a temporary sub directory that is named after the user's session id. Once I'm finished with the files, I delete the temp sub directory. The only problem is that when a sub directory is deleted, the AppDomain gets recycled and kills all user sessions (using inproc session state). The culprit appears to be a FileChangesMonitor that watches for changes in all sub directories in the application.
The following code works great in IIS 6.0 running on Windows Server 2003 to disable the FileChangesMonitor for sub directories, but for some reason it's not working in IIS 7.0 on Windows Server 2008:

I found another solution that disables the FileChangesMonitor altogether here. But this is not the ideal solution as I still want to monitor all other files except for the temp sub directories in the 'uploads' directory. Why does this work in IIS 6.0 and not in IIS 7.0? In IIS 7.0 can you specify sub directories in a virtual folder you want to disable recycling on? Is there another way to do this without using reflection?
I have directories in my website which require authentication.
But when i type the url with the directory name it lets me see the files but doesnt allow access as users need to login.
How can i stop users viewing files if they manually type directory name in?

View 1 RepliesI have a WCF service in a virtual directory that is called in the code behind of a page that is in the parent directory, when i debug the code i can see the wcf service is being called, however when the service calls Membership.GetUser() it alway returns null. The user has already logged in to the asp.net site. When i call the service via jquery it does pick up the correct user, but i need to be able to call it via the code behind as well. I am developing in .Net 3.5 how i can make the Wcf pick up the logged in user?

1- I don't want any people to delete "...../FormView.aspx" and go to this[URL] and browse the directory pages and folders names.
2- If anybody tired that, the application should redirect him to login page or home page.
I made a web form on a development website of mine (we'll call it dev.somewhere.com) and tried to publish it out to the web (we'll call it [URL]) in a subfolder. I named it default.aspx like I was supposed to and it worked flawlessly on the dev site. When I published it out the web, I wound up getting the following error when trying to get to the subfolder: [URL] Directory Listing Denied
This Virtual Directory does not allow contents to be listed. Confused and flustered, I tried to go to [URL], but I wound up with some error that won't tell me the problem. Instead it tells me to change the my web.config to read <customErrors mode="Off"/>.
As virutal directory points to physical path of the application, so if the IIS root directory is C:inetpubwwwroot and the application is stored at D:websites, than we need to create a virtual directory but if the application content is placed at C:inetpubwwwroot, then why still need to create virtual directory.

View 1 RepliesI have a page that shows a list of the files in an upload directory. ie: My customer uploads a file through my web page and the file ends up in the proper directory. When I click on a file name, the url path is missing the directory name. It's as if my customer uploaded directly to my root. Interestingly, when I upload a file through the same web page, the path remains intact and I am able to click on the link and download the file. How can I get the proper path in my url name. I have a webpage developed using System.Directory services using C# to query active directory. I do get a window prompting me to enter the network user id and password when i access the page from the network. I have enabled integrated windows authenication and unchecked Enable anonymous access.
