Surname is always required NI Number OR Reference Number is required Is this beyond the scope of the ASP.NET Validation Controls? The only solution I can think of is writing some bespoke javascript (for client side) and backing that up with some server side code.

but I can still enter whatever I want into the text box. What I'm trying to check for is that users are entering a time in a valid format.
Using C# and SQL as the database.I have a page with a gridview and some text boxes and drop down list boxes. A user selects a record from the grid view I query the database and fill the text boxes and drop down list boxes.
Some fields get updated periodincally thus there is no data in those fields in the database until some time.
A strange thing happens.When filling data some text boxes gets a one tab spacing .
i can use auto-suggest with the text box txtCode like this...

Now I will create text boxes dynamically, i want to bind autosuggest with the new created text boxes. What should I do?
I have a custom validator which validates three text boxes. my code is,

I fill in all the three textboxes.it still gives me the error message to fill in all the boxes and does not submit the page even when all the three boxes are filled.
I am using one datalist control for uploading multiple images.I hv used one Asp:FileUplaod Control and one button in one itemtemplate.I am using reqired field validator and regular expression validator for file upload cntrl I am assigning validation group for both of them on ItemDataBound event of my datalist so that each upload cntrl hv same validaton group as required field and regular expression validator.Now what i want to do is - i want to show my error message in validation summary which is right at the top of the page.I want one know how to write javascript that will assign validation group of my control in datalist on which i click ?

I haven't been using asp.net for that long and i am wondering if i can use a datalist, repeater, etc to pull data from a database, into one of these, but then group them by group with expandable boxes.

I am trying to figure out how to get the text value from each textbox on a page that has a dynamically created number of text boxes. I need to store that value in a database row. I guess what i need is to be able to store the text box values in a collection or arrary of some sort and then be able to use textbox(i).value or something of that nature. Not really sure where to begin.

I have two validationsummary controls on my page for aesthetic reasons. Each control is assigned a validation group (StudentInfo and Grades). validation controls in the upper part of my page are in validationgroup StudentInfo and those in the bottom part of my page are in validationgroup Grades.
However, I only have one "Save" button control that causes validation. I want the Save button to validate both groups of controls, but it appears to only allow one Validation group to be specified in its properties.
Is there a way to have a button cause validation for both groups?
I have a simple 2 tab panel setup with 2 validation groups. My problem is that my buttons fire both validation groups.

I have one small issue with my page, i have two CollapsiblePanelExtender in my page and some required field validators are used for the textbox controls that are there within the CollapsiblePanelExtender.And i have also assigned two different validationgroups for all the validators.
Say if first validation group fails to validate then i want to expand the first CollapsiblePanelExtender1, similarly if second validation group fails then i want to expand second CollapsiblePanelExtender2.

They are all inside their own div tags as well, not sure if that will matter. The only thing that does matter is the start of each text box needs to be aligned.
