C# - Webpage Interfacing With COM Port To Control Page?
Aug 6, 2010
I'm looking at creating a project that has a touch screen panel on a com port and a front facing website.
I want the touch screen panel to interface with the web page, it will have two buttons (left & right) and I want those actions to "do something" on the web page.
I'm trying to work out which programming/scripting language would be best to, I could use JS but I believe that'd mean polling a c/perl/php script that is listening on the COM port considering JS has no socket capabilities.
Would it be easier if I used ASP.NET/C# - would it cause me less headaches?
UpdatePanel1 contains a gridview1 and a standard panel, pnlForms. gridview1 has a linkbutton which is processed in the gridview1_rowcommand
UpdatePanel2 has gridview2.
There is also a Submit button that isn't in either UpdatePanel but may be a candidate to go into its own UpdatePanel. The Submit button is a trigger for both update panels
The behavior I would like is:
1-Initially, all visible except pnlForms and Submit button 2- When linkbutton in UpdatePanel1 gridview1 is clicked, pnlForms and Submit button become visible. 3. When Submit button is clicked, both gridviews should be refreshed, and PnlForms and the Submit button should both become not visible. I believe I may have to put the Submit button in its own UpdatePanel3 but am not sure how to proceed.
In my present code, everything works as desired except Submit button (not presently in any Update panel) is always visible. Assuming Submit button is initialized to not visible, how do I get it to appear when I click the link button in gridview1 and to disappear when it is clicked?
im creating a project.i developed a circuit for usb. i will connect this device to server's usb port. Can i access this device from a client?(not read/write file. i will send some commands to usb). Usb connection program is ready. How can i access from client? Which method will i use? web service, wcf or others.
I'm currently taking care of a certain local website.
The default port has been changed, and can no longer be not included in the URL due to technical reasons, so now i'm using a certain port in the end of the IP at the URL, for example
100.100.100.100/website.aspx
no longer works (which accessed 80 by default)
100.100.100.100:81/website.aspx
with the port, works.
Works, though I can't click in any link or anything and the port vanishes (new page doesn't load). Then I keep the same URL and just include the port at the end of the IP and it works again, until I click in another link inside of it.
I have access to changing each link, but I guess that would not be the right approach.
How should I procceed ?
--[EDIT]--
All URL's are already relative, and the whole issue of this question is not applicable in IE, this only happens on other browsers.
/website.aspx
What I said about changing each link would be something like
I am university student and i am not fully familiar with MS visual web developer. wat I need to learn is that i am developing a web application for my project and i am stopped at how to add tab control to my web page. i am using MS visual web developer 2010 express edition. in my toolbox there is no tab control or page control option exist.
I Have a webpage suppose ParentPage.aspx which contains a iframe. Under iframe i am calling another webpage Childpage.aspx . Now i want to access ParentPage controls from ChildPage and change the property of that control.
how it is possible ?
Below i am writing a code which i am trying. In this code Page.PreviousPage is always null .
Well I am having a problem when I have put my .NET 2.0 web site on IIS 6. I have used UrlMapping to redirect some old urls. It is working fine when I am using it on the VS local server port but when I deploy it to IIS 6, its giving a 404 Page not found error.
I've found that in a few forums they are talking about using Wildcard Mapping, but none of them provide me with a good explanation of how to achieve this. Added to this, what are the security risks of doing such a modification on IIS Level (if there are any?)
wanted to know what is the easiest way to interface a mobile phone device with an online system. I have literally NO knowledge in this domain. However, I am brainstorming on possibility of an online application that will allow me to backup my data in nokia set 3110 such as my Address book in the application and restore it. This I want to achieve without connecting my phone to any PC. I am thinking on some way to achieve this by leveraging mobile phone line only. I beleive it may require my application to connect to mobile phone through mobile phone network. Currently my mobile phone line subscriber is offering Address Book backup/ restore service with some charge. I want to see if I can replicate similar features. I would really appreciate if you can give a direction to my random thoughts. If anything is not clear then please feel free to inquire. I look forward to your kind response.
I would like to create a webpage which can handle user events like page navigation and page close. And also I would like to handle the event on server-side coding.
I'm creating a time sheet for work to learn more about asp and making database connections I am also using this time to prepare for my next C# and database design class which start on Wednesday. I'd like to know how I can get data from default.aspx and display it in timesheetdisplay.aspx, and I would also like to know how I can make it so the person doesn't have to enter the full id "100000111" as it appears in the database just the last 3.
I'm developing a kind of framework that will work in web and win, so I have this interface:
public interface IViewsManager { ... void ShowMessage(); ... }
And I have the implementation for win that call a popup control from another dll. My problem is when I try to implement it for web enviroment, I have to call a popup control from another dll, and I would like to show the popup and the web page disables with a gray layer, and I don't know how to do it.
The structure is like the following:
1) UI.Common
a) IViewsManager
2) UI.Win
a) ViewsManagerWin
3) UI.Web
a) ViewsManagerWeb
4) UI.Controls
a) PopupControlWin
b) PopupControlWeb
5) Web Application
And from my web application I call the IViewsManager.ShowMessage, and depending on the enviroment it calls the appropiate popup control.
I can specify a port number with SmtpClient object in ASP.NET, what I am wondering is, is that just the port .NET uses to send mail to the SMTP server? Or will that dictate what port for the SMTP server to use? Or is it that it MUST match the port configured for the SMTP server?
I have a managed DLL which communicates with the devices attached on COM/Serial ports. The desktop Winforms application sends requests on ports and receives/stores data in memory. In Winforms app I have added a reference to DLL and I am using the methods. This works well. Now, there is a situation where I need to show this data from serial/com port on a web-page. And also users should be able to send requests to the ports using this DLL. I have made a web app in ASP.NET (2.0). Added a reference to the DLL. I am able to use this DLL, the DLL communicates on the COM upon button click on web-page and also the response is shown on web page. However I am not happy with the approach and strongly feel that this is a bad approach. Also the development server crashes after 3 -4 requests. What is the best approach in this scenario. If I use a windows service then how would my ASP.net app will communicate with the Weindows service.Or can this be easily done using WCF. I have not used WCF any time nor any of .net remoting technique.
I following this article for sending SMS it is a winform application.. I have referenced all the Dll's to my asp.net application. I use an aspx page to detect a mobile device connected to a PC..... But it alwys shows COM 'n' Port could not be opened.
using SMS; using GsmComm.GsmCommunication; using GsmComm.PduConverter; public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { GsmCommMain comm = new GsmCommMain(6, 9600, 300); comm.Open(); if (!comm.IsConnected()) { Response.Write("No Phone Connected"); } else { SmsSubmitPdu pdu = new SmsSubmitPdu("test", "+919999999999", ""); CommSetting.comm.SendMessage(pdu); } } }
EDIT:
I use the web development server that ships with Visual Studio... If go to Control Panel -> Phones & Modems -> Modems i could see my mobile connected in com6.. i have tested the winform application it works fine.Is this the answer? ASP.NET pages are supposed to work. What is happening over here is that when you click on open_com button, the ASP.NET page posts back to itself, executes the event handler i.e., opensthe port. Then when the page finishesprocessing the post back, it is unloaded. At this point the COM1 objects is also destroyed.
I'm wondering if there is a way to create an asp.net webpage that will connect a visitors USB device to an application on the windows bases server? This way we avoid having to install a software on the visitors computer to control a USB device update that they purchase form us.
All they have to do is visit our update page, plug their deivce to the USB, and have our site update the usb hardware. Possible? or am I dreaming? :)
i found software like: USB over IP, and few others. But not show ure its possible to create a C# or vb.net based ASP.net page to control the visitors USB device.
In this place holder, I dynamically add a usercontrol (for each question in a survey). That usercontrol for now is just a simple Panel with a radiobutton. For the test, I have 2 questions, so the usercontrol will be inserted 2 times in my PlaceHolder.
On a submit button added in my Survey page, I try to retrieve the value of both the radio, but I just cant find the control.
I made a recursive function to loop through all the controls, I find the "PlaceHolder1" controls, but it has no child controls. Where are the 2 panels for each questions .. both containing 1 radio.
I see them on screen, but just can't find them in my coding.
For example what if I am trying to hide a custom navigation control what can I place in another webcontrol to conditionally hide the label something like this
I have a web site developed in framework 3.5 , OS 2008 Server and iis 6.0 My web site running on port no. 80 and accessible in Lan network but it is not accessed when I changed to any port no like 8060 or 88. how to change port no so that I can access it in LAN network
I am using serial port communication in my asp.net webform application...
[code]....
This method works when i send i single message... But when want to send sms in bulk opening and closing port everytime is not a good idea... So my question is it possible to use a serial port like session in c#?... When i open a port i want it to be open for 1 hour and then if my time expires i want to close the port and open it the next time...
