C# - Improve Load Time For A Silverlight App Data Display?
Mar 9, 2011
the initial data load for the Silverlight app, can take 6 -20 seconds. We are using web service, data is coming from one database and loads 2 years worth of transactions. We don't use summary tables. we are not doing insert/update/delete, just display.
I have selected around hundred data and then bind to the repeater each times it take a long time to save data after clicking the save button. How can i improve the performance?
I have a select query where iam fetching the data from minimum of 7 different tables by using innerjoin. I have 3 lakhs of records in that table.BY using cache Iam fetching all 3lakhs of records at a time and put in cache. by using the rowfilter i use the records.firsttime when iam fetching these 3lakhs records it takes 3min. want to improve the performance of time. How to improve the performance of time?
I was discussing load-balancing with a colleague at lunch. I admit that I know very little about this topic. We were discussing the various ways of maintaing session in a ASP.NET application -- none of which suited the high performance load balancing that he was looking for. What about Silverlight? says I. As far as I know it is stateless, you've got the app running in the browser and you've got services on the server that feed/process data. Does Silverlight totally negate the need for Session state management? Is it more friendly to load-balancing? Is it something in between?

I am working on a ASP.NET 2.0 application. It is hosted on IIS 6 on Windows 2003 server.
Few pages have jpeg images (around 50 images and 50 KB each). It takes long time to load the page for the first time. But when i open the same page for the second or third time it is faster.
why does a web page take long time to load for the first time?
Is it cached somewhere when it loads for the first time? Do we have any control over it?
to search for specific word. It is very quick in finding the word, but when loading that amount of data to my dictionary it takes a while. Could you say what is the efficient way deal with such data? This is not homework or work related, but it is my personal project.
i am having the problem that i am using datareader to get contents in my asp.net page. But the page takes a lot of time to load. How to decrease the loading time of the apage and increase the performance of my page.
I am interesting on log down the recent 100 visitors around the world whom have visited to my website and display their country information and IP address on the website developed by Silverlight platform.
Where can I get accurate data for detecting the visitors' IP address and geo-location information?
I have this situation where I need to display a bunch of files pulled from a Sharepoint site in a Silverlight application. I use a WCF service to get the data from the Sharepoint site.
So what I have is file names with their corresponding extensions. What I need to do is, display the files in the Silverlight application with their corresponding file type icon and file name. The following is the Heirarchical data template I use to display the files in the Silverlight application.
Find if the current time falls within hourly ranges and display the start hour and end hour of that range in labels.
Examples:
If the current time is 8:46am, label startTime would return "8am" and label endTime would return "9am" If the current time is 10:01pm, label startTime returns "10pm" and label endTime returns "11pm" If the current time is 12:59am, label startTime returns "12am" and label endTime returns "1am"
I have been working with the C# TimeRange class but not getting what I need.
We have one Asp.net application developed using framework 2.0 with C#,Sql and AJAX. The application is running live from past 2 years almost. All the times users will be facing kind of strange problem, reporting some junk data will be displayed on the browser some times. When they refresh the page or reopen the browser, it will display the correct information.
For Eg. We have a stored procedure which returns months between 2 dates, if we pass 2 dates as '01/04/2010' and '30/06/2010' then procedure will return 'APR,MAY,JUN'.
Once case we have noticed where it has returned and displayed as MAY,JUN,JUL,AUG which is not possible. Once we refresh or reopen the page it displays the correct information.
This is one ex. whereas we have some other page also where we get unwanted values like that.
I have a query like i want to show the time information in custom format like(1min 06sec) from date .I have a filed Duration in database and when i am binding my data control then in item i want to display in above format(1min 06 sec),so is it possible?
I have a ListView that populates and displays a user's data (via a profile system in VWD 2008) during Page_Load and also when I go from the EditItemTemplate to the ItemTemplate.
When I go to the edit screen again, my DropDownList and RadioButtonList controls display the first items in the corresponding tables instead of the correct profile values.
I don't understand why the controls populate correctly the first and second times but not on the third time (that's right, the third time is NOT a charm).
I am trying to get my repeater to display information 10 records at a time for a single page with the user having the option to press next to view the next 10 pages or previous to review the previous 10 records with the option to skip pages by clicking the navigation links 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 is this possible?
Does it have to be alot of code as I have done it sort of already with an array and 5 repeaters? do arrays such as string[] a work when being hosted?
I am using a repeater control, and in that one of the item, displays a time value that it retrieves from a database, the issue now is, that i want the data to get processed eg, todays date [ minus ] the date that was retrieved from the database. How can i go about this?
I am expecting to use the vb code behind to process the data, and then display it in the repeater control pragmatically for each corresponding record that is displayed.
I have a datetime column in a database that stores the date like like this - 2011-02-27 16:00:00.000
I only want to display the time in a gridview, and need to display it in this fromat "4.00pm" . I'm using template fields to write the date and time to the gridview like this...
