C# - Read Out In A List All Of The UpdatePanel Client ID's Have On A Page?
Dec 2, 2010
Anyone know of a way to read out in a list all of the UpdatePanel Client ID's I have on a page? Basically I need to loop through all controls in the page with a type of UpdatePanel, and display the ClientID for each..
I have four update panels on this page and I am using this
private string LoopUpdatePanel(ControlCollection controlCollection)
{
StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
foreach (Control control in controlCollection)
{
if (control is UpdatePanel)
{
sb.Append(((UpdatePanel)control).ClientID + ", ");
}
if (control.Controls != null)
{
LoopUpdatePanel(control.Controls);
}
}
return sb.ToString();
}
For some project requirement I need to have a list of all client ids generated against server controls on an ASP.NET page in a dropdown..Any Idea how to move forward..??
I have a project of ASP.NET which is a Customer satisfaction Survey, i need to to incorporate the option selected by customer with the a client side text file which i located at the client machine, read a text file on client or should i develop the survey application as window application.
How can I read a file from client's pc? I found out that it required to upload the file to server and read it from the server, what if I want to read it directly from client's pc, can I do that
I'm trying to update just the bing map I am using in an UpdatePanel because it takes a few seconds load. I need to call a javascript to refresh my pushpins though when the refresh is complete.
is this c# code intended to read local client files?System.IO.FileStream content = System.IO.File.Open("c: est.txt", System.IO.FileMode.Open);It gives me error FILE NOT FOUND
I have developed an application where I need to create a page to read data from Excel File and then update it to the database. The code that I wrote works only when the application runs from my machine. When I deployed the application to the server it gave an error- 'C:PRFileIimport_File.xls' is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides. here is mu code -
protected void InsertData(object sender, EventArgs e) { OleDbConnection oConn = new OleDbConnection (@"Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0; Data Source=C:\PuertoRicoFile\Puertorico_Iimport_File.xls ; Extended Properties=Excel 8.0 "); OleDbCommand oCmd = new OleDbCommand("select * from [Puertorico_Data$]", oConn); oConn.Open(); //Here [Puertorico_Data$] is the name of the sheet in the Excel file where the data is present OleDbDataReader oleDbReader = oCmd.ExecuteReader(); string AgentIP = ""; string TagName = ""; string Status = ""; string Severity = ""; int EventCount = 0; string EarliestEvent = ""; string LatestEvent = ""; while (oleDbReader.Read()) { AgentIP = (string)oleDbReader[0]; // valid(oleDbReader, 0);//Here we are calling the valid method TagName = (string)oleDbReader[1]; //valid(oleDbReader, 1); Status = (string)oleDbReader[2]; //valid(oleDbReader, 2); Severity = (string)oleDbReader[3]; //valid(oleDbReader, 3); EventCount = Convert.ToInt32(oleDbReader[4]); //oleDbReader[0]; //valid(oleDbReader, 4); EarliestEvent = (string)oleDbReader[8]; //validate(oleDbReader, 8); EarliestEvent = EarliestEvent.Substring(0, 19); LatestEvent = (string)oleDbReader[9]; //validate(oleDbReader, 9); LatestEvent = EarliestEvent.Substring(0, 19); InsertDataIntoSql(AgentIP, TagName, Status, Severity, EventCount, EarliestEvent, LatestEvent); } SqlConnection mySQLconnection = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["IssNetworkReportingSystemConnString"].ConnectionString); mySQLconnection.Open(); SqlCommand cmdSql = new SqlCommand("AddMonth_Event_TotalInfo_for_Puertorico", mySQLconnection); cmdSql.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; dbReader = cmdSql.ExecuteReader(); dbReader.Close(); cmdSql = new SqlCommand("AddQtr_Event_TotalInfo_for_Puertorico", mySQLconnection); cmdSql.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure; dbReader = cmdSql.ExecuteReader(); dbReader.Close(); oConn.Close(); lblMsg.Text = "Data Imported Sucessfully"; lblMsg.ForeColor = System.Drawing.Color.Green; } public void InsertDataIntoSql(string agentIP, string tagName, string Stat,string severity,int eventCount, string eEvent, string lEvent) {//inserting data into the Sql Server SqlConnection mySQLconnection = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["IssNetworkReportingSystemConnString"].ConnectionString); mySQLconnection.Open(); SqlCommand sqlSelect = new SqlCommand("SELECT SeverityID from Severity where SeverityDesc=@SeverityDesc",mySQLconnection); sqlSelect.CommandType = CommandType.Text; sqlSelect.Parameters.Add("@SeverityDesc", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value = severity; dbReader = sqlSelect.ExecuteReader(); int severityId = Convert.ToInt32(dbReader.Read()); dbReader.Close(); SqlCommand sqlInsert = new SqlCommand("Insert into IdsData_Puertorico(AgentIP,TagName,Status,SeverityID,EventCount,EarliestEvent,LatestEvent)" + " values (@AgentIP,@TagName,@Status,@SeverityID,@EventCount,@EarliestEvent,@LatestEvent )" ,mySQLconnection); sqlInsert.CommandTimeout = 0; //timeout unlimited sqlInsert.CommandType = CommandType.Text; sqlInsert.Parameters.Add("@AgentIP", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value = agentIP; sqlInsert.Parameters.Add("@TagName", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value = tagName; sqlInsert.Parameters.Add("@Status", SqlDbType.NVarChar).Value = Stat; sqlInsert.Parameters.Add("@SeverityID", SqlDbType.Int).Value = Convert.ToInt32(severityId); sqlInsert.Parameters.Add("@EventCount", SqlDbType.Int).Value = Convert.ToInt32(eventCount); sqlInsert.Parameters.Add("@EarliestEvent", SqlDbType.DateTime).Value = DateTime.Parse(eEvent); sqlInsert.Parameters.Add("@LatestEvent", SqlDbType.DateTime).Value = DateTime.Parse(lEvent); sqlInsert.CommandType = CommandType.Text; sqlInsert.ExecuteNonQuery(); mySQLconnection.Close(); }
If I put ValidateGroupComplaint in a standalone js file (linked from the master page), then the alert line will always display nothing and always return false.
If I put ValidateGroupComplaint in a script block inside my web control, then it will work IF the web control is not in a UpdatePanel. If it is inside a UpdatePanel then it simply can't find the validator function (JS Error: object expected).
Basically I want to get some javascript to be sent back to the client and executed from a postback inside an UpdatePanel. Furthermore this is inside of a reusable WebControl. I've tried
this.Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript and this.Page.ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock but Firebug shows that those scripts aren't sent back in the postback's response.
I also tried straight up writing a <script> tag inside the control's main div in the Render method, which does get sent back but isn't executed. I got a hacky solution working, but ideally looking for a cleaner solution. The hack is to add a 1x1 pixel img with width/height set to 0 and use that for an onload event to execute the script and that works, but it seems like there has to be a cleaner way to do this.
I used PopupControl Extender to display row details from a gridview, and need to update the two textboxes, but the changed value in the textboxes did not get picked up when click the update button on the popup window, so I need to get client side javascript to read the new changed value from these text boxes. However, I tried a few way, none worked for me, not sure what is wrong.
1. Add a javascript function in the .aspx file and use onclientclick of the linkbutton control to call the function, I got error of "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object required".
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function newTextValue(textbox) { var text = document.getElementById("TextBox1").Value; alert(text); } </script) <asp:TextBox ID="TextBox1" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("GalleryTemplateName") %>' Height="20px" Width="230px" style="text-align: left"></asp:TextBox> <asp:LinkButton ID="LinkButton2" runat="server" Font-Bold="True" CommandArgument='<%# Eval("GalleryTemplateId") %>' oncommand="LinkButton2_Click" OnClientClick="newTextValue(this)" >Update</asp:LinkButton> 2. Use ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock in the aspx.cs file, : ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(this, this.GetType(), "changevalue", "alert(document.getElementById('TextBox1').value);", true);
but the alert window did not showup, that means the client javascript did not run? I just use an alert window to test to see if the textbox value is picked up. Note, I used Ajax Toolkit PopupControl Extender, all codes are in an update panel.
This is my first time trying to use the UpdatePanel component. It's a very simple task. I have a search panel on a page and I want to populate a ListBox according to text the user typed. Here's my basic aspx:
[Code]....
On my .CS file, I have the following function for ButtonSearch click:
[Code]....
But when I press the button nothing happens. I see on debugger that the procedure is being called but the ListBox isn't populated. I tried to place the ListBox inside the UpdatePanel but I got the same results.
I have a problem of Validation still present for list object that have been dynamically deleted in the View. Here is the scenario. In my model I have a list. This list can be added and deleted dynamically in create and edit views. Lets say I am in the create view. I add two list objects dynamically and start filing the object and submit the form. The model validation fails in the server side (client side validation cannot be done as it involes some complex logic) because of some errors. Now the errors are being disaplayed for the two objects. Now I delete the first list object dynamically and correct the errors in the second list object and try to submit but the form will not submit because, the client side validation still thinks that the first list object is still present. Is there anyway to remove the client validation for objects that have been removed dynamically ?
My model
Contact.cs:
public class contact{ public List<Address> address; }
Steps for the problem.
1. Create two addresses in the create view.
2. Fill the fields and click submit.
3. Server side Model validation will report errors for fields.
4. Delete the first Address and correct the errors in the second object and click submit.
5. Submit will not work because the client side validation expects the errors to be corrected in the first Address which has been deleted.
I need to develope on web page using asp.net 2.0, on page load i need to check that particular software installed or not on client computer, i have develope one page for same using following code,but when i upload this application on server page give me details of server machine,while i want details of client machine on which user will browse our application,please help me short out this problem.
I'm having troubles remembering how to grab the list view's state, or page, so that when you leave the list, you can return to the list view page you left on. I have a data pager, and I have hyplerlinks for items in the list view that take you to a file upload or file delete page, and then returns to the list view. It returns to the list view's initial state (first page).
