View 1 RepliesIn article [URL] .... I want to change the header Styling. Is it possible to change?? If yes then how?
Also, i want to use label inside header (to write heading).
I am binding a gridview this this my code.

Suppose if ant colum is having large amount of words(100 to 200 words). then after binding the gridview spreads and the form become to big with a scrollbar down side. I want a fixed length paragraph in gridview coloum, so that use can easily read the content.
Scrollable GridView with Fixed Headers inside ASP.Net UpdatePanel using jQuery Plugin. I have one more question in that.  How to adjust the width of the columns headers because for some of my gridviews the headers not showing the proper format.  in the gridview I gave HorizontalAlign="Left" and in the columns I gaveÂ
<asp:BoundField DataField="XXX" HeaderText="XXX" ItemStyle-Width="150px" HeaderStyle-HorizontalAlign="Left" /> Â
It's not showing in the correct fomart. header is coming to the left side and data is coming to the right side...
I am using gridview for adding invoices dynamically.And I am set the column as auto generated column.How can i set alignment as right for money column.And how to i specify money value for that column.
View 4 Replieswhat is the difference, both works: DataGridTemplateColumn versus DataGridTextColumn both works means I can edit+display rich text in the cell.
<DataGridTemplateColumn Header="Homework">
<DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<RichTextBox >
<FlowDocument>
<Paragraph>
<Run Text="{Binding Homework}"/>
</Paragraph>
</FlowDocument>
</RichTextBox>
</DataTemplate>
</DataGridTemplateColumn.CellTemplate>
</DataGridTemplateColumn>
<DataGridTextColumn Header="Homework">
<DataGridTextColumn.CellTemplate>
<DataTemplate>
<RichTextBox >
<FlowDocument>
<Paragraph>
<Run Text="{Binding Homework}"/>
</Paragraph>
</FlowDocument>
</RichTextBox>
</DataTemplate>
</DataGridTextColumn.CellTemplate>
</DataGridTextColumn >
I have an SQL table which looks similar to the following:
Title | Author | Tags
'title1' 'author1' 'horror, steven king, clowns'
'title2' 'author2' 'childrens, roald dahl, chocolate'
Let's say I wanted to find the name of a book that has the tag 'clowns' in it...how can I do this? 'clowns' is a substring of the tag for 'title1'...but how do I search for substrings? I have tried to use the "LIKE" keyword but obviously it doesn't work in this situation.
Scenario:
I am creating a custom gridview control which has a custom CheckBoxTemplateField column (deriving from TemplateField class). This template field column has custom Checkboxheadertemplate (implementing ITemplate) and CheckboxItemTemplate (also implementing ITemplate). In InstantiateIn method of both templates (header as well as Item template), I am adding a checkbox control which has Autopostback = true.
My requirement is:
I want to mark all the values in the binding column of datasource if checkbox in headertemplate is checked. I dont want to mark only rows visible on grid. I WANT TO MARK ALL ROWS IN DATASOURCE. I want to do this in _CheckedChanged event of checkbox in header template.
Problem I am facing: When I check/uncheck the checkbox in header, it postbacks. so in OnCheckedChanged event, gridview's datasource is null. Secondly, in any event of gridview, I could access only those rows of datasource for which corresponding rows are visible in gridview through Gridviewrow.DataItem property. But I want to set it for all rows in datasource.
I have a column that I don't want to display but I still want to access its value. the other problem is that I can't access the value of a cell because it contains a label. Does someone know how to access the text in that label?
View 3 RepliesIn my asp.net+vb web in a gridview i am using this code to change font colour...
  If e.Row.DataItem("OutDetails") Is System.DBNull.Value <> True Then
e.Row.ForeColor = Drawing.Color.Green
End If
Can i count and display in a label whose OutDetails are not blank...
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a template field which has four itemtemplates that each hold a label in a gridview. These labels are always constant with the same strings. What I want to do is change the css formatting of these four labels depending on the value of a column. So the css formatting would have to be done for each row, not the whole column. I bind the gridview to a dataaccesslayer so there is no sqldatasource on the page. Does anyone have any idea how to do this and where it would be done. I will have the dataview with the data sorted in the correct order. The actual column that is used to alter the CSS will not be in the gridview although I could assign it to the datakeyname if that makes it easier as the data is not sensitive.
View 1 RepliesI want to set colums, TemplateFied,HeaderTemplate,ItemTemplate with (LinkButton-Text,CommandName,Onclick etc) Here I am showing my code t_name table name it is varable,I want to set various table contains various field,Then I want generate Dynamically Gridview with the above properties.
string str = System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["sql"].ConnectionString;
SqlConnection con = new SqlConnection(str);
SqlCommand cmd;
SqlDataAdapter ad = new SqlDataAdapter();
con.Open();
cmd = new SqlCommand(“select * from t_name”, con)
ad.SelectCommand = cmd;
DataSet ds = new DataSet();
ad.Fill(ds, t_name);
GridView1.DataSource = ds;
GridView1.DataBind();
I write code in asp.net I always solve issues by finding solutions with other members who have the problem before me. But this time I don't know how to do...
This is my problem :
I have a gridview inside an updatepanel and i modified some headers in order to filter the collection. This worked but when my updatepanel is updating, my textbox for the filter clear the value (the text) and lost focus.
This is my code :
[Code]....
[Code]....
The function FilterText(this) only set a timeout before fire postback.
I am checking string  and then bind category. If condition is false then i  need anchor tag in which i pass querystring to specific link.
<itemtemplate>
<asp:Literal runat="server" ID="litPrice" Text='<%#((String.IsNullOrEmpty(Eval("Price").ToString()) || Eval("Price").ToString()=="00/0.00" || Eval("Price").ToString()=="0/0.00") ? "<span font-family="arial"><a href="http://www.xyz.com/web/enquiries.asp?category="+ Eval("category")>Enquiry</a></span>" : Eval("Price"))%>' >
</asp:Literal>
</itemtemplate>
I am getting error. CS1010: Newline in constant
I have a dropdownlist in a headertemplate but I can't seem to access it in the code behind to work with the onselectedindexchanged event. I want to change the data that is shown on the event but can't access the control.
View 2 RepliesHere is my code:
GridView gv = new GridView();
gv.AutoGenerateColumns = true;
gv.DataSource = listOfEntities;
gv.DataBind();
// set alignment for description column
gv.Columns[0].ItemStyle.HorizontalAlign = HorizontalAlign.Left;
On the last line I get index was out of range error, and indeed if I inspect the GridView there's no columns yet. The Entity I am binding has 2 properties and they get rendered OK if I don't try to align them.
Is there a way to do this without having to dynamically assign a delegate to the DataBoundEvent of the gridview?
i designed a gridiview, within that ItemTemplate i drew an table then tr then some of td's, now the problem is after every row im getting one empty row. below is my code
<ItemTemplate>
<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" style="border-right:1px solid Black;" >
<tr >
<td width="1%" align="center" style="border-right:1px solid Black;">
<span style="">
<asp:ImageButton ImageUrl="~/inc/img/img1.gif" runat="server"
CommandName="Expand" Style="display: none" Width="11px" />
</span>
</td>
<td width="5%" style="border-right:1px solid Black;" > <%--onclick="ShowMenu( <%# Container.DataItemIndex + 1 %>);--%>
<asp:Label runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("data1")%>'></asp:Label> </td>
<td width="5%" >
<asp:Label runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("data2")%>'></asp:Label>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
i have 2 tables assignment and feedback, in a gridview it displays all the assignments, the assignments then get feedback. im then wanting to change the view feedback button in the gridview depending on if there is new feedback for example:
the feedback table has a state field in it so when its 1 i want that image button to change to the one with the +
i am working on asp.net3.5 c#,i want make the click event for a cell in grid view, actually i'm using data table and assign this to grid view,i want click event for a cell .is it possible?
View 2 RepliesI have an imagebutton control in the column HeaderTemplate of a gridview and want to know how to reference the imagebutton so I can add an attribute to it programmatically. Following is the code for my gridview control:
[Code]....
I can reference the checkbox control correctly with CheckBox chkbox = GridView1.FindControl("chkSelected") as CheckBox;However, I have tried the following code for the imagebutton but I get the error message Object reference not set to an instance of an object.:
[Code]....
Or is the OnInit event handler the right place to reference the control?
I have a gridview inside an updatepanel.After updating the gridview, accessing the individual rows does not seem to give the right row. For example:
protected void GridView1_RowCommand(object sender, GridViewCommandEventArgs e)
{
GridViewRow row = ((e.CommandSource as Control).NamingContainer as GridViewRow);
Row from the above code gives the values from the gridview before the gridview is refreshed/updated.
I have Template fields configured for Gridview. The gridview is using an objectdatabsource to bind itself. I have the gridview configured to use Templatefields which then contain tables to display the information. This works fine.
My question is, is it possible to change the text of the label if certain criteria is reached. If "NumberOfDwellings" is 1 then change the label to read, "1 Dwelling". Where-as if NumberOfDwellings has more than one then it's "3 Dwellings".
<asp:Label ID="lbl_NumberOfDwellings" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("NumberOfDwellings") & " Dwelling(s)" %> '></asp:Label>
I want to display gridview column heading when mouse over to the particular column in the gridview.I am working in VisualStudio 2005 with MS.Net2.0 framework.I don't want to use ajax.

Is it possible to bind data to specfic columns in Gridview?
I mean, if I send a query to my database and it returns 1 column, then bind that column to the first column in the gridview, then send another query and bind the resulting column from that query to the second column without erasing the data of the first column etc etc.
