Regarding this example: [URL] .... it works locally, within VS 2012.
But when I publish to a local or remote webserver, it doesn't show an error, but the dropdown lists are populated with this line: [Method Error: 500].

I use the CascadingDropDown to fill several DropDownList in my web to manage different application access rights
I use the Ajax CascadingDropDown component for that.
My problem is that, depending on the application, the selections criterias of the values in my database will be different.
I would like to know if there is a way to get or to identify the name or the ID of the dropdownlist which execute the CascadingDropdown class in the .asmx part (in the "public CascadingDropDownNameValue[] GetApplication1(...)" class ) ??
The name of the DropDownList give me the code of the application manage use to select my data in my SQL query
I don't want to write several query for each dropdownlist like :
public CascadingDropDownNameValue[] GetApplication1(...), public CascadingDropDownNameValue[] GetApplication2(...) etc ...
as they will be create automatically at the loading of the page.

I am trying to set the Text property of a drop down list option like this:
<asp:ListItem Value="AB" Text='<%= Resources.Get("USA") %>'></asp:ListItem>
But it isn't working, instead the Text value is literally <%= Resources.Get("USA") %> and not the string "USA".
i.e. it is not being interpreted as code.

I was wondering if there is a way to capture the yes/no values on the server side once the y/n buttons are clicked on a javascript pop up?
I am displaying the y/n pop up while using a dropdown menu but pretty much all the solutions i have seen so far use button's onClick event.
By reading article: [URL]
I am able to see the pop up box with the yes/no options but after i click a 'yes' or 'no', i don't see 'You clicked Yes' or 'You clicked No'.
This is the code i have so far which has been taken from Muddassar's article that uses a button, not a drop down.
I can see for button the "Confirm()" is being called by OnClientClick event, but i haven't been able to make it to work in a dropdown.
On the aspx page:
<asp:DropDownList ID="ddlWorkBucket" runat="server" AutoPostBack="true" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource8" DataTextField="workBucketName" DataValueField="workBucketID" Width="120px" onChange="Confirm()" OnSelectedIndexChanged="OnConfirm"></asp:DropDownList>
Also on the same aspx page is this javascript function:
<script language ="javascript" type="text/javascript">
function Confirm() { var confirm_value = document.createElement("INPUT");
confirm_value.type = "hidden"; confirm_value.name = "confirm_value";
[CODE].....

I'm new to asp.net. I have a page with formview to read, edit and insert data to sql server 2008. On the page there are textboxes, dropdownlists. The Dropdownlist1 is bound to a lookup table. I also have a pop-up page to add, delete and update data underlying table. The problem is after i insert a new record to the lookup table and close the pop-up page, rebind the dropdownlist on the parent page. I'm refreshing the page with window.opener.location.href ....
but i want only the refresh the dropdownlist on the parent page.

Suppose I'm building a StackOverflow clone using webforms ASP.NET and jQuery. The Question page has a question, several answers, and comments under each. Requirements:Users can post new answers and comments, and edit existing ones, without postbacks. No UpdatePanels; the AJAX calls retrieve just the JSON they need, not HTML fragments. The page loads with all existing answers and comments in place (no javascript needs to run to read the page).
What I'm trying to figure out is how to do this without having to maintain two sets of markup (one that's bound on the client using some form of jQuery templating, and one that's bound on the server using traditional WebForms).
