There are two instances of this control in the page. When running the client side version it hits the wrong one (the version of the control which is disabled). You can see from the generated HTML both are correctly specified. I'm not sure how .NET works out which clientside function to call given they both have the same name.

Jun 14, 2010I have a webdayview control (Infragistics proprietary ASP.net control) on my page. On the aspx source I've inserted some javascript (webdayview_click - clientside click event) that calls a webmethod in the codebehind. This seems to work fine, but when I
insert this webdayview control into a user control and move the corresponding javascript into the aspx of the user control, it doesn't work. I can't even insert a breakpoint into the javascript function to debug it. Is there a way to make it work? I want to enable the click event of the webdayview control so that when I click on it, the javascript function calls the webmethod. Here's my code (remember it is inside a user control):

I have loaded a COM object in Server script using code behind (C#) and that COM object will trigger events in some random interval. I need to update the client page whenever I receive an event from the COM object from server side (code behind).My question is, Is there a way to make the client page do postback from the code behind(C#)? ie., The client page needs to be updated whenever an event occurs in the server. Is that possible? The com event does not trigger a postback since it only occurs in the server and not in the client.

How To Call UserControl Javascript When Parent Page Submits To Server
Sep 8, 2010I have an asp.net usercontrol located on on my aspx page. In the usercontrol there is a javascript function that I would like to fire everytime the page that contains the usercontrol submits to the server. (directly before this happens) Ideally I prefer to not have to write any code in the parent to make this happen, but I am not sure what the usercontrol may be capable of at this time. Can the usercontrol know that the page is submitting to the server and fire the function before this happens? Is there some sort of event that takes place here?

Jan 30, 2010I've got two textboxes running server side and have their visibility turned off. I'm using a couple of ASP.NET controls which require the textboxes to exist. However, I am filling them from the code behind and would not like the user to see this. Can the user turn the visibility on and see the values entered in the text box? I tried using FireBug, and I couldn't seem to select the visibility option in order to edit it. However, I'm quite new to Firebug, so there may be another way? Or does running it server side mean that the client can't ever view the contents of the textbox?

May 20, 2010For the ASP.NET validator controls, I want to use both client-side validation for the user experience and server-side validation to guard against hackers. ASP.NET documentation leads me to believe that if EnableClientScript="True" then there will be no server-side validation if client-side validation is possible for the user agent. To get server-side validation, the documentation says use EnableClientScript="False", which bypasses client-side validation altogether.
Am I misunderstanding how the validator controls work? I ask because it seems obvious that many developers would want both client and server side validation together, and I find it hard to believe both together is not possible with one of the standard validation controls.
If I am understanding the ASP.NET documentation correctly, then I can find only two options:
Use two validator controls exactly the same except for their ID and EnableClientScript properties. Obviously ugly for maintaining two controls almost the same.Write some code behind to check if postback then invoke the Validate method on the validator group. Why write code behind if there a way to be automatic from the control?
Is there a way to do so using a single validator control with no code behind?

With the previous question in mind, is it also possible to set this via the GUI, or does this need to be set programmatically as well?

Mar 4, 2010I have an EDIT.ASPX page and on that page I have some labels and textboxes and a user control. I listed all the related codes you can have a clear picture - not all of the codes are given me a problem. ONLY ONE.
HELP ---> On the Uer control (SiteTemplate2.ascx) I have a DataList that is being populated by the database and that works fine. I have a
CHECKBOX on the user control page each time the user check the CHECKBOX the user control content totally disappears from the EDIT.ASPX page. There is no error message -- I believe this is a post back error but I don't know how to fix it.
Goal: Each time the checkbox called (CHKBSideBar) is clicked on the user control page all of the page content should stay in place that include
EDIT.ASPX Page and the refeneced USER CONTROL. I should be implement a CheckedChanged Function without either of the pages lossing DATA. I need to be able to access post back event from the user control of the Edit.aspx page. When the user click a box on the user control page how do I keep the same Page_Load event on the edit page. I need to reference the Edit page from the user control.

AJAX :: "client-side Framework Failed To Load", But Only Occurs Some Mornings?
Jan 24, 2011I originally wrote an ASP .NET 3.5 intranet website on a .NET 4.0 machine running IIS 5. To alleviate the problem, I figured I'd rewrite the website in VS using 4.0. This seemed to fix the issue, but then it starting reoccuring again. I currently have 8 users for my website, which utilizes the AJAX dropdownextender. Ajax 4.0 is installed on the machine and all the users (including me) can access the website via the intranet and rarely have problems. The only issues arise in the morning when the users 1st access the site. It will occassionally give errors stating"ASP.NET Ajax client-side framework failed to load","'Sys.Extended.UI' is null or not an object", or"'Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManager' is null or not an object". All these errors arise from the framework incorrectly loading. It is typically cleared up right away with a page refresh. Unfortunately, most of the users aren't the most computer literate, so are unaware of issues that arise. I just want to know if there is a way to fix this issue. I've been researching this issue alot, but never got a straight answer. If any other information is necessary, please let me know.
