Configure Apache To Host Both A Web Service And A PHP Website
Jan 5, 2011
I am developing an ASP.NET Web Service and a PHP Web site consuming the Web Service. They are meant to be run on different machines. However, only for development purposes, I need to run both on my machine. I cannot use virtual machines.
I would like to know if it is possible to configure IIS Apache to host both my Web Service and my Web site? Or, do I need to host the PHP site using Apache?
I am using
IIS 7.5 Apache HTTP Server 2.2 (NOTE: I have nothing against Apache. In fact, so far I like it more than IIS, however, I would rather not have two Web server applications installed in the same machine.)m PHP 5.3.4
.NET Framework 2.0 3.0 or 3.5 (whichever comes with Visual Studio 2008)mod_aspdotnet for Apache 2.2
How to host asp.net website on server when I am using mysql database i have turned off iis services so how can i used http in start of creation of new website i have database mysql...
am new with asp.net and experiencing a problem in confguring asp.net with apache...scenario:today i created just a test website using asp.net in visual studio 2008. i am not able to open the index.aspx with apache. First I installed the mod_aspdotnet for apache and then configured the httpd.conf to point to index.aspx but when i tried http://localhost ..... it generated some kinda error.i just wana ask how am i suppose to configure apache to open index.aspx????
I have heard of the pains of setting up IIS. On a windows box, can I simply drop a ASP.NET application into Apache server and have it work? Or are there any other server alternatives? I am relatively new to web server concepts. I have heard suggestions for the server in mono but it doesn't seem practical using mono on a windows box, I could use a Linux box with mono, which wouldn't surprise me if it worked better then a windows solution, but for arguments sake this question is directed towards a windows box.
i want to run asp.net website on apache server instead of IIS.i googled a lot, but din get satisfactory answers.i only came to know that we can use something called 'mono' - third party api for doing this.i want to knw some basic things like do we need to install .net framework on that server?what if its a unix server?
I want to develop my own REST service, so I've created an IHttpHandler that is configured with verb="*" and path="*", the the application in ~/MyRESTsrv/ will handle any derived URL.
This approach works good in IIS7 with "integrated mode" and apparently in IIS6 if you map all the extensions to "aspnet_isapi.dll".
Is this possible in Apache/XSP with Mono? Do I have to do something special or it will work out of the box?
I have an ASP.NET application running on Apache server with mod_mono. If I have a folder called "temp" located in the website's root directory and run the following code
System.IO.TextWriter tw = new System.IO.StreamWriter("temp/test.txt"); tw.WriteLine(DateTime.Now); tw.Close();
it saves test.txt in C:Program FilesMono-2.6.4in emp on the server. If I add a slash to the directory name like this: System.IO.TextWriter tw = new System.IO.StreamWriter("/temp/test.txt"); It saves it to C:/temp. Both do not do what I want. How do I get the code to save the file to the temp folder inside my website's root directory? Is this a mod_mono issue or something to do with Apache? I have tried adding this line to httpd.conf Alias /temp "C:/Path_to_root_folder/temp" without any luck. I shouldn't have to use alias if the temp folder is within the root directory, correct? In my development environment which uses XSP as the web server everything works as expected. It is only a problem when running on Apache.
I want to fetch a web page from a ASP.NET site that is only accessible from within a session. I'm using Apache HttpClient. I first open the main page of the site, then I search for the link to the "goal" page, and then I fire up a GET request for the "goal" page. The problem is that when I get the response for the second GET request, I always get the same (first) page. If I open the site with Firefox or Google Chrome I get the "goal" page.
From the first response from the server I get the following headers:
I inspected the traffic with WireShark and all headers look OK. I send the correct cookie back to the server on the second GET request.
I'm using Apache HttpClient. I have only one instance of DefaultHttpClient and I reuse that for the second request. I have BROWSER_COMPATIBILITY Cookie Policy.
I'm trying to run a website (site2) that I've placed inside a folder (dir-site2) of another website (site1). The default file of site2 displays fine in every browser on my local computer, as in when I type http://localhost:45912/www.site1.com/dir-site2/default.aspx. But when I upload everything to my host's server and type this
http://www.site1.com/dir-site2/default.aspx I get a server "can't access" error message. I can't display any file that is inside the subdirectory, dir-site2.
i get HTTP 404 not found error when trying to access WCF service hosted in MVC3. the same service accept calls if i host it in ASP.NET web site i posted question in WCF forum but didnt get any help: [URL]
I haven't deployed behind a load balancer before. My customer has a WCF service built and tested on servers using a service model configuration that is relatively straightforward. It provides a service to return an image of a map for another application. To get the map, it calls other services.
The service was built in Visual Studio 2010 targeting the 3.5 framework. The customer is using IIS 7.5 and an F5 load balancer. When moving to the production server, the Web.config was changed to add the load balancer behavior and specify the endpoint to show the physical and logical address of the service:
[Code].....
There was a problem when the service was deployed to a server behind the load balancer. When I try to call the service from WCFStorm or WebServiceStudio I get the message "The provided URI scheme 'https' is invalid; expected 'http'.
The endpoints for the service itself look right to me. However in the development and testing versions of the config, the client section uses http instead of http, while on the production servers it uses the load balancer's https address. This seems like it should be obvious, but we're missing it.
We have a C# Web Service that declares itself using attributes. The code-behind file looks like:
[WebService(Namespace = "http://the.web.service.url/")] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] public sealed class TheWebservice : WebService { [WebMethod] public SomeObject TheFunction() ...
The web services has worked for a long time now. Recently, one request resulted in an error:
The maximum string content length quota (8192) has been exceeded while reading XML data. After searching around, I found that there is a setting maxStringContentLength that can increase the meaximum size. The post says you can configure this setting in Web.config in the BasicHttpBinding section. You can then specify that BasicHttpBinding in an endpoint section. But since we declare the webservice using the WebService attribute in the code-behind file, we do not have an endpoint section.
Is there a way to specify an endpoint using a declarative attribute? Alternatively, is it possible to switch from attribute to web.config mode without breaking existing clients? Am I confusing WCF and its predecessor here?
Is there any way i can create and host a WCF service, and my client apps just send username and passwords to the service to suthenticate them selves, without using Certificates, on client and Server side???
IF NOT:
Then is there any way i can do the above, but just using certificates on server side, i dont want all of my client apps' machines installing the certificate?
I am tired of the flase advertise, Only recommand on free host servers that you are using, If you can please also post you site url,I need to host my facebook Ifame application, because I didn't succeed to work in development mode (E.g working against the localhost don't render FB tags)If you used cheap server also recommandion and link we be acceptable
I have made a very simple Asp.net web site with a WCF service - "Person.svc" - that runs fine when hosted on Asp.Net development server(visual web developer 2010), but if I host on Mono's XSP 2 and access some parse error is thrown. Can WCF services live inside a XSP Web site?
I made a simple WCF web-service inside an ASP.net website.
The web-service is hosted by IIS and works fine on localhost, ie when accessing for exemple to [URL] I get the correct "Hello World" response as expected.
But accessing to it by my computer hostname [URL] gets me an error 404 response. This is particularly confusing as the remaining of the site (mainly aspx pages) is accessible without any problem from both ways.
I have a domain(www.fortunebells.com) in hosting server zetnetindia.I have created wcf service and added service reference in my project.I want to host the service reference in the domain. how can i do this?
accessed only using IE 6.0 or above. If anyone tries to access the website using any other browser I want to display a big warning message. Is it possible to configure this in web.config insted of checking via javascript. I am assuming something like in authentication we have customErrors attribute were we can set the custome error page in case of failure to authenticate the user.

I created a WCF Service Library and there're 2 services (http endpoint and https endpoint) in the App.cofig file. The WCF Service Host had not problem to host the http endpoint but failed to host the https endpoint with these messages:
WCF Service Host cannot find any metadata. Additional Info: The service cannot be started. This service has no endpoint defined. Please add at least one endpoint for the service in config file and try again.
I have a website has already hosted on EasyCgi (suppose that it's called website1). I have to host another one (website2). So I created a folder called "website2" under the website1 root folder. then I FTP all the content of website2 to the "website2" folder. After that, I tried to request the URL: and nothing happen...Just an error page display that contains:
