Create SIMPLE Project That Uses Function "is Postback"?
Mar 20, 2011
I need to create a SIMPLE project that uses the function 'is postback'. I have no idea where to start as far as ideas for what type of very simple project I should create. what type of BASIC project to make using 'is postback'?
I want to simply search a database for a certain string, how can i accomplish this using linq and EF (if using these tools for it are not practical). I just want to take a string and search my usernames, the search should be able to handle things only parts of the username (using some sort of 'contains' function)
i'm a begineer and i'm now learning how to develop a web page with asp.net in c# language.can anyone teach or show me a sample of login function which can put in my web page together with the page and database code.p/s: i do not use the MS sql server express in MS VS instead i using MS sql server 2005 as my database.
In VS2008 I create an empty Solution "CmsWork" with a new Web App Project "CmsWork" and add a Web Form "TestForm1.aspx".
From Toolbox I add a TextBox and then in codebehind try to refer to it in Page_Load. Intellisense and compiler both say TextBox1 does not exist in the current context. Tried referencing the control as TestForm1.TextBox1 and CmsWork.TestForm1.TextBox1 -- same error. wtf?
TextBox1 shows up fine in Design View and is labeled "TextBox1". What does Design View know that Code View and the compiler don't? Adding code to call FindControl and typecast to a TextBox works fine, but shouldn't be necessary. Controls can be referenced by ID in a codebehind in a Website project. Why not in a Web App project? This should just trivially work. I must be missing something EXTREMELY simple. I've tried restarting VS2008 normally and with "devenv /resetsettings" -- no effect. Reboot: no effect.
This is VS2008 Development Edition under Windows Server Enterprise SP2, with no VS add-ons, extensions, etc.
Aspx page:[Code]....
Codebehind:[Code]....
Build output:
Error 82 The name 'TextBox1' does not exist in the current context C:Users...DocumentsVisual Studio 2008ProjectsCmsWorkCmsWorkTestForm1.aspx.cs 14 4 CmsWork
I just want to start coding a simple master detail form but through with loosely typed datasets/objects and also layer or tier architecture. Is there any starter project for this kind of code? Most of the help I find on google discusses strongly typed data objects or very advanced designs.
I'm just getting started with the ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit and got it installed into Visual Studio 2008 without issue.I created a very simple sandbox web app by following several tutorials. Some pages have a single button with a modalpopup event, others are using a calendar extender on a textbox. I've gone through many, including ones that you can interact with and seeworking on the website.Each time, VS builds the web app without issue and deploys and runs. The problem, however, is that "no AJAX happens" when I try to use the app. This has happened on two separate PCs running Windows 7 - one with Pro and another running Ultimate, all 64-bit One machine was also running Visual Studio 2010 beta 2).When I hit a page with some of the toolkit controls, the page renders normally and I see a lot of script references in the generated HTML so something's happening. But take one example:
I have a simple js function that counts down the characters in a text box, and it works in every browser EXCEPT Firefox (3.6.6). I've tried changing some syntax, but nothing has worked so far.
I have an Ajax function called from JQuery that goes to a webservice to return a value. I need a SIMPLE example on how I can do this. I've been going nuts with serializing and every other aspect of this topic. I need to return either an ArrayList with ONE string field or a DataTable of some kind. Either way, I'm populating it into a DropDownList. I'm willing to consider alternatives to this idea. (Background info - I get a value from a textbox and I need to run it through a DB to get an associated value or set of values). I'm being really general so that someone can show a simple example.
I am trying to make a simple composite control - just a label and textbox - but the postback isn't being picked up by the control.I haven't implemented IPostBackDataHandler as according to this its not necessary - the TextBox control should tie in automagically. A composite control that includes a TextBox need not worry about postbacks, as the embedded control will work it out with ASP.NET automatically.
have this site that has an api that can provide city name if I send my zip code as a parameter. http://www.postnummersok.se/api?q=16447the result is returned as a json object. Now i just want to read the result in my js function.I have tried the following but it always returns null:
I'm trying create unit testing for an existing website project (not web application project). I cannot access my under test classes unless I use accessor. However, if I use accessor, I have problem to initiate an object with passing arguments. I only want to create unit tetsing for App_Code. After searching web, and I found that I'd better to create a web application project using my current existing website project. From solution explorer, add new project ->using existing website. My questions is: what impact will have for my current website to create the new project? Should I just convert my current website to web application? If do that, will it cuase problems on my website? I am new on asp.net, still learning..
I've been having trouble getting a postbackurl to work, so I tried to do a simple test between two pages and I still get the same thing.
[Code]....
That's all I have on Test1.aspx, yet no matter what I do it just postsback to itself. I can't get it to direct to Test2.aspx. I've tried LinkButton too.
Is there an easy way to search all the columns in the database?
I was the user to input a search word in a textbox and then search all of my database. I then want an array full of the primary keys of all of the records that had the search word contained somewhere in the record (i.e in any of the record fields).
This sounds really simple to me but I can't figure out how to do this and can't find examples online.
I need to create something which is like an Add friend function in my website which works like this:
1) User types in name of the person he wants to search in the search field and clicks enter
2) on the same page, the search result will come out with an "add friend" button beside every name
3) when the user clicks the "add friend" button, he will be brought to another page (or pop up with a message box?) with a text message field to send to the friend, and a submit button to submit the friend request.
4) over at the Friend's page, he will be able to view the add friend request and decide whether to accept or deny the friend request.
I need to create a simple blog feature for my website. I have created a form that writes to an XML File, i now need to be able to display this file in a blog style, and possible add comments.
I want to create a new module in DNN (VB) ... that;
1. does not use DAL or DAL+ 2. has only one view.ascx control 3. It has to be a compiled module
I do not need DB connectivity and any bells and whistles just one view control. I thought it would be simple but googling for a day now and it seems very complicated.
I have the development environment already set up with;
1. DNN Starter kit 2. VS 2008 3. SQL server 4. DNN up and running in IIS 5. the project builds successfully
If anyone knows a way I can build a module using the DNN Dynamic Module Template in VS 2008 and then strip off the DAL and all the unnecessary layers and extra controls until I have only a working view.ascx that just prints out "Hello World!" to the screen ...
I'm looking to create a simple watermark on the fly for an image, taking one image (JPEG) and adding some text to it on the BOTTOM of the image in white, with a solid black background right across the bottom. haven't been able to find anything that does it on the bottom of the JPEG.
i need to create a simple package that will: 1. insert a data to table A2. get the identity_scope3. insert multiple rows to table B with the id from table Ai created one, but it only does bulk insert, so i want to redo it again.
I need to build up a List<object> and cache the list and be able to append to it. I also need to be able to blow it away easily and recreate it. What is a simple way to accomplish this?
Very new to ASP.NET and C# (somewhat knowledgable in PHP) I have an ASP.NET web application and need to manage access to pages based on a 'status' stored in a cookie. I would like to use the following code to create the cookie in a login method.
HttpCookie cookie = new HttpCookie("UserCookie"); cookie.Value = "status"; <-- this will be replaced with a variable once its working cookie.Expires = DateTime.Now.AddHours(1); Response.SetCookie(cookie);
My problem is that the only place I can put this code where it works is in the global.asax Session_Start method. It simply doesn't work anywhere else. I am checking the cookie creation in firefox options and see the ASP.NET_SessionId created but nothing else (This is all running on localhost).
Is the session status somehow interfering with the cookie creation? Do I need to configure something in Web.config? It would appear that the only time I can create a cookie is on Session_Start. Does anyone have any tips, perhaps I am missing something simple?
Rather than try to reinvent the wheel, how to create a stacked/segmented bar or point me to an existing control. Here's what I need:
Horizontal bar
Standard html
Each segment needs to be color coded from css
Each segment needs to be a percentage of the total (i.e. if total value = 100, then a value of 10 for one of the segments would be smaller than a value of 50)
Should be able to fit seamlessly into an html table cell Should not be an image Should only create a single bar with segments (not multiple bars/segmented bars) Server-side generated, no AJAX
This should be as simple as possible given x number of values, create x segments.
I'm looking for code examples or already-built controls.
