Deallocate COM Server Object Forcefully From C# .NET?

Oct 21, 2010

Can I know how to deallocate COM server object forcefully from C# .NET if particular condion fails or the object is partially constructed? The problem is I am using that COM server using DCOM mechanism; in the worst case, when the object is not created fully and I am coming out of application since failure, the COM object is still in memory (showed in COM+ Application component services). If its going beyond some limits, it leads to memory leak and crash. But if its manageable amount of failures, its getting deleted after some point of times.

Sample:-

Calculator.App objApp = new Calculator.App();
if( !obj.CanBeUsed() )
{

//how to deallocate the COM object objApp
}

Note:There is a method GC.Collect() used by Garbase Collector to de-allocate from the heap memory forcefully. Whether I can use this method or .NET franework is giving anyother solution for this particular case?

Transaction When App Pool Recycles Or The Worker Process Is Terminated Forcefully

Apr 13, 2010

The architecture of the application is straight forward. There is a web application which maintain account holder data. This data is processed and the status of account holders is updated based on number of business rules. This process is initiated using a button on the page and is a long running process (say 15 mins). A component is developed to do this data processing which internally calls stored procedures. Most of the business rules are kept in stored procedure.

Web Forms :: Session Ended - But Server Error/ Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of Object?

Nov 15, 2010

In the VS2005 environment, when I test my session to make sure the page redirects to the main page (itself) if the session is null, it works. There is no error.

The function I use for this is:

[code]....

However, when it is in the production environment in IIS 6.0, when the session has timed out, and I then do a postback by doing some slider control, I see the page reload but immediately thereafter, it throws a Server Error exception of : Object reference not set to an instance of object.

Looking at the stack trace, the event occured:

AJAXEnabledWebApplication1._Default.Slider1_TextChanged(Object sender, EventArgs e)

however, why is it that the Slider1_TextChanged event fired even even after during page_load, the page was told to do a response.direct ?? shouldn't the entire page have gone through a full-page refresh life cycle ? why did it continue on to attempt to raise the Slider1_TextChanged event?

WCF - Server.Execute Throwing Object Reference Not Set To An Instance Of An Object?

Mar 29, 2010

I have an ASP.NET page that calls to a WCF service. This WCF service uses a BackgroundWorker to asynchronously create an ASP.NET page on my server. Oddly, when I execute the WCF Service

[OperationContract]
[WebInvoke(Method = "POST", BodyStyle = WebMessageBodyStyle.WrappedRequest, RequestFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json, ResponseFormat = WebMessageFormat.Json)]
public void PostRequest(string comments)

[code]...

Oddly, when the currentContext.Server.Execute method is executed, it throws an "object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. The reason this is so strange is because I can look at the currentContext properties in the watch window. In addition, Server is not null. Because of this, I have no idea where this error is coming from.

SQL Server :: Deserializing Object That Is Different Than When It Was Serialized

Mar 29, 2011

I have an issue with deserializing an object. I get an error 'System.Int32' cannot be converted to type 'System.Decimal'. This object has many child objects and since this object has been serialized, a new version of the object has one or many fields that have been changed to decimal and now I can't open or view the object because it doesn't match my original object. Is there a way around this? I've found some examples online but it doesn't really apply to my situation. I would post some code but I don't think it would really help...I would just like to know if there is a way to view my serialized object even if my object has now changed and how to go about doing it.

SQL Server :: Invalid Object - Name Of Stored Procedure?

Nov 22, 2010

I tried to add a stored procedure to my already group of procedures. For example, I have link_delete, Link_insert, Link_update I need a way to insert a link and this must relax the constraints: I tried to create a Link_insert2 and the thing is underlined in red saying Invalid Object in my query window. I basically renamed the existing Link_Insert stored procedure and added the line:

ALTER TABLE tblLink DROP FOREIGN KEY FK_tblLinks_tblWebSite

because my program is not able to write to the table unless I do this. I was going to just forget the stored procedure altogether and use a sub which I did and is writing a row. It is not returning the SCOPE_IDENTITY however, and I must get that. Can someone tell me how to get that?

SQL Server :: Could Not Allocate Space For Object 'dbo.tbl_Notes'

Mar 31, 2011

I have an storedprocedure which checks the following scenario:

An email will be sent to multiple customers simulataenously. the email addresses are seperated by semi colon. I have to save that mail in a table and then in the same procedure, I have to check each email address and whether it is of any customer in the customer table.. If it is of customer, then i have to insert an entry in another notes table. For this i am doing the following operation in Stored procedure:

[Code]....

the above is the part of storedprocedure i wrote. The problem is I get an error when executing this stroed procedure in Asp.net

Could not allocate space for object 'dbo.tbl_Notes'.'PK_tbl_Notes' in database 'ProjDB' because the 'PRIMARY' filegroup is full. Create disk space by deleting unneeded files, dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup. and following that code, i am executing another SqlBulkCopy operation in front-end .. that returns the following error:

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Could not allocate a new page for database 'ProjDB' because of insufficient disk space in filegroup 'PRIMARY'. Create the necessary space by dropping objects in the filegroup, adding additional files to the filegroup, or setting autogrowth on for existing files in the filegroup.

Using Business Object Dataset Adapter; Works On PC Not On Server?

Jun 26, 2010

I am a new to ASP. Very experienced in MS Access... Logical move to ASP.

Problem:

When designing my first .aspx on PC and testing via localhost; all is well.

When move to server I get this error msg:

"The type specified in the TypeName property of ObjectDataSource 'ObjectDataSource2222' could not be found."

I have been reading for a solution for the past three days.

My reading tells me that there should be a reference somewhere in the web config file to id the business object dataset , but do not see any. No luck in surfing for a tip either.

I thought Visual Studio 2010 was a rapid app that allow one to design and test on PC and move easily to server for production. I am I expecting to much.

Passing A JSON Object To A Function On Server Side?

Jun 4, 2010

I'm trying to create a JSON object on client-side and pass to a server-side function. Then instantiate it on server-side using JSON string representation.

So I create jSON object on client-side

var myJsonObject = {
"arg1": var1,
"arg2": var2
}

and pass it in to

WebForm_DoCallback(controlID, myJsonObject , null, null, null, true);

When I try to retrieve this JSON object on server-size I get as a string representation of JSON [object Object]

So in following server-side function, the argument value is [object Object]

public void RaiseCallbackEvent(string jsonObj)

I was expecting a string representation of JSON object. How do I pass in a string representation?

SQL Server :: Update Multiple Rows - Loop Through Each Object

Feb 8, 2011

I have several rows in my database like this

ID Status Type Count Event
291 0 0 2 1
523 1 2 0 4

and so on. When my user performs some basic actions on my website, some values are passed through JSON to the server and are then converted into custom objects with 5 int properties(so they match the table). These objects that the server receives are the rows to be updated(based on ID) and the values for each column. How can I do this in one SQL statement without the need to loop through each object and update them all seperately? Is there a way? Preferably compatible with SQLServer 2005.
