Defaultbutton Is Not Working On First Panel But Works Well With The Rest Of Them?
Jul 14, 2010
I have a search panel in my master page, which seems to be getting called when typing in another panel and hitting enter, even though the panel has a different defaultButton. The weird thing is the second and third panels work well, which ever one I put at the top calls the search button.
I am using ASP.NET Panel to set Default Button for some Controls like TextBox but it seems to not work due to AJAX Control Toolkit's AutoCompleteExtender.
I have a panel, with several textboxes and an ImageButton inside of it. One of the textboxes has a MaskedEditExtender and a MaskedEditValidator associated with it. When I hit enter from any other textbox besides the one with the MaskedEditValidator the defaultbutton that is defined in the Panel's DefaultButton property handles the enter key.However, when I am in the textbox with the MaskedEditValidator, the first button on the form is receiving the enter key. Now, if I take the MaskedEditExtender off of the page, and just leave the MaskedEditExtender, everything behaves as it should.Can anyone offer any insight into how I may get this to work properly, or is this a known bug?I tried searching the forums and found a similar post, but no conclusion was ever reached.
I have a page where a user can type a From & To address, which brings up a new window w/ directions. In order to bring up the page in a new window, I'm using an HTML Button (not a Button Control).
The problem I'm having is when a user hits the enter key. I tried setting the default button for the pane, but quickly learned this isn't allowed.
I added some Javascript to capture when the enter key is hit, but this isn't working right on Firefox & the iPhone Mobile Safari browser.Is there a standard way to make an HTML Button the default button of a panel?
Ideally, I could use a Button Control, prevent it from going to the server & only execute the javascript. Is this possible?
Setting the default button directly on addbutton. I tried both in aspx and in code to set the defaultbutton to the custom control and implement the IButton interface, but that was also fruitless.
I have created a custom web control to act as a button with an image. I would like to be able to set this as the target of the DefaultButton parameter of an ASP.NET Panel control. I have implemented the IButton interface, and no error is generated when loading the page using the control. However, when I press enter in a textbox within that panel, the Click event of the control is not raised. When I replace my control with a standard ASP.NET button, everything works fine.I have a test page with a panel containing a textbox, an instance of my custom button, and a standard asp.net button. The buttons are wired to an event handler which will change the textbox to the ID of the caller.When DefaultButton of the panel is set to the ASP.NET button, hitting enter in the next box works correctly - the page posts back, and the text box is populated with the name of the standard button. When DefaultButton of the panel is set to my button, hitting enter in the textbox causes the page to postback, but the Click event is not fired. Clicking the button manually works correctly.Does anyone know what I have to add to my custom control to make it handle the event coming from the Panel control? I'm looking using Reflector at the source code for Button, but cannot identify what is enabling this behaviour.I have posted the source of the control below, and the relevant source of the test page.Control Source:
public class NewButton : WebControl, IPostBackEventHandler, IButtonControl { public NewButton() : base(HtmlTextWriterTag.A) { }
I have a GridView control on a page with a Panel that has a DefaultButton. I am trying to get the "Update" button to work with the Enter key when a user edits a row. It works fine with the mouse. When I click on "Update", the row reverts back to View mode and the updated value is shown.
When the GridView is in the Panel, the Panel's default button (which submits the page) fires when I press Enter, before the RowCommand is even handled, and the update is lost.
When the GridView is not in the Panel, some other seemingly random button in the Panel fires, but not the "Update" button in my row's EditItemTemplate. Specifically, there is a CalendarExtender on the page, and the extender's popup button fires. Totally not what I want.
How can I get this to behave correctly?
Here is the structure of my mark-up code:
<asp:Panel ID="Panel1" runat="server" DefaultButton="btnSubmit"> <!--Form with controls--> <asp:ImageButton ID="btnWSPODateCal" runat="server" /> <!--this button fires when I press enter while editing a grid row:--> <ajaxToolkit:CalendarExtender ID="CalendarExtender1" runat="server" TargetControlID="tbPODate" PopupButtonID="btnWSPODateCal" /> <!--more controls--> <div class="button_row"> <asp:ImageButton ID="btnCancel" runat="server" /> <asp:ImageButton ID="btnSubmit" OnClick="btnSubmit_Click" /> </div> </asp:Panel> <asp:GridView runat="server"> <Columns> <asp:TemplateField> <EditItemTemplate> <asp:ImageButton CommandName="MyUpdate" ID="btnSubmitRow" runat="server" CommandArgument="<%# ((GridViewRow) Container).DataItemIndex %>" />
On my page i have a set of control containing parts of a form, like textboxes, checkboxes etc. I use those parts to build controls that I use in pages. For example:
What I then want to do is to set the behavior of Panel1 to have a default button in the addbutton control. I have tried setting the Panel 1 default button to the botton in formbutonline like this: Panel1.DefaultButton = addButton.Button.UniqueID; in Page_load, but that does not work because .net throws this error: The DefaultButton of 'Panel1' must be the ID of a control of type IButtonControl. Now the button is public, so that should be ok. I have also tried ID and ClientID, with te same results. I have also tried to implement the IbuttonControl in PartFormButtonLine and map the implemented functions to the button
functions, which, as expected did not work. (Panel1.DefaultButton = addButton.ID) The problem as far as I can tell is that I cant seem to set the
of the container div to the correct value, onkeypress="javascript:return WebForm_FireDefaultButton(event, 'MainContent_UserAddToList_addButton_Button')" Everything else works, this is the last thing that needs to be fixed.. Idealy i want to fix this in the PartFormButtonLine file, as that would be better for reuse {update: removed quite abit of clutter in the ascx snippets}
Trying to deploy a wcf rest service inside of an asp.net web application. Works wonderfully when deploying to test server in visual studio, however when i deploy to iis 6 I get nothing. It is as if my service is not there at all.
I made a simple WCF web-service inside an ASP.net website.
The web-service is hosted by IIS and works fine on localhost, ie when accessing for exemple to [URL] I get the correct "Hello World" response as expected.
But accessing to it by my computer hostname [URL] gets me an error 404 response. This is particularly confusing as the remaining of the site (mainly aspx pages) is accessible without any problem from both ways.
I have looked at nearly every single WCF Rest PUT/POST issues on SO here and have still been unable to determine why I am unable to PUT or POST to my web service but am able to call a test GetTime method via GET. This particular service exchanges custom credential information (username, password and some other information) for a token. This token information is encrypted and added to the header of subsequent requests to other web services so that username/passwords don't have to be passed around everywhere. All web service calls are still treated as stateless, but require this auth header information rather username/passwords to access secured service operations.

I have also checked in IIS 7 the handler mappings for *.svc and checked that 'all verbs' are enabled.
I'm new to the world of Update Panels and i'm having a hard time figuring out how to use them properly.
I have a form that has a table(TABLE1)...and inside TABLE1 i am linking to a sql data source....at the bottom of the table i have a 'Add' button.
When the user clicks the add button...a modal popup appears (POPUP1) and inside the POPUP1 the user can click a link that can add a user...when the link button is clicked...a panel within POPUP1 is set to visible = true.
I have one update panel around the whole table and the add button...when i click add and then click the link to add a user....the modal popup disappears.
I have a panel where I have set a background image. (This image can stretch with the style I have declared) In this panel I have put a table with 3 Columns The table has width="100%" to be as wide as the panel. Each column has a label.
What I am trying to do is that Column 2 & 3 will have a static width and the Column 1 will have a dynamically width that can change if the browser window is adjusting its width.The problem in the code below is that the Column 2 & 3 width is getting smaller if the browser windows width is getting as small as possible. I am trying to have the width static all the way but in when the browserwindow get a very small width the columns is getting small too.
Is it possible to set a minimum width to a <td> ?I have commented out the image to see more clear what happens. [Code]....
I have two update panels on my page. One of them contains a list of users which is retrieved from the database. When I click a search button (which is outside of the update panel) the users are retrieved from SQL server and displayed in a repeater inside this update panel. Each of the users has a button next to them to 'Edit'. The seconds update panel contains all of the fields for a user. Textboxes, checkboxes and what not.
My plan is to click the search button as you normally would, and then when you click the 'Edit' button on a user, the second update panel fills with their details. This works except that when I do this the first update panel is updated again and because it hasn't searched for any users it goes blank.
So what I did was set both the update panels to conditional, and then call the first panels update at the end of the search code in the search button click event. So that worked, but now the repeater inside the first update panel is not firing the Item_Command event, so I can't get the details for a user. How can I resolve this so that the repeater button works inside the conditional update panel?
Here, 'ProductInfo' is a class inside an asmx file, which have certain methods that get called from javascript.The code functions well on my local and the dev server, however does not work on the QA server. When we browse the site in the QA server, and try selecting a value from a drop down list, which should use the ajax function to populate another drop downlist, I get the error "ProductInfo does not exist"One difference (don't know how much that contributes to the problem) between the dev and QA server is that, there are 2 servers on QA that are load balanced.
I need to call a Rest service but would like to do so without having to redirect. Here is my dilemma. The Rest service we are trying to integrate offers the option to sign up for a subscription but does not allow us to upgrade an existing subscription. So if a user wants to upgrade an existing subscription we have to first cancel and then have the user sign up for a brand new subscription. I don't know how I can make this so it flows nicely in my code. I ideally I would like to do something like this
User decides to upgrade
Click upgrade button
Existing account is being cancelled, if cancellation was successful
New account is being created
How can I do this with a Rest service? Here is a sample URI/URL
Could anybody give me some ideas how to make this work in an elegant manner. We thought we could keep the old subscription and then just sign the user up for a new subscription for the difference of the money. For example the first subscription would be 2.95 and the second one would be 2.00 which would amount to a subscription of 4.95. I think it is not elegant and the user would see 2 charges on the credit card, weird, I think. Since I don't know much about Rest maybe there is a way that this can be solved.
I have an ASP.NET web application(webforms,not MVC) developed in VS 2008 and i have implemented ASP.NET web forms URL routing by following this link [URL]
It works pretty good when i run it on the Visual studion IDE.But does not works when i created a site under my IIS (IIS 5.1 in XP) and deployed the same files there.I have set ASP.NET version as 2.0 in the Properties window of my application too.But does not work.

I'm trying to add a "max-age" header to my response. It works fine on my Visual Studio Development Server, but as soon as I move the app to IIS (tried both IIS express locally and IIS on the server) - the header disappears.
My code:Response.Cache.SetCacheability(HttpCacheability.Public); Response.Cache.SetMaxAge(new TimeSpan(1, 0, 0, 0));
VS Dev server response (all works just fine):
HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: ASP.NET Development Server/10.0.0.0 Date: Fri, 07 Jan 2011 14:55:04 GMT[code]......
This code works fine if i use this inside ssercontrol > panel and i have a checkboxes in table when no checkbox is checked its works fine .... but if i disabled and checked any of the textbox then this doesn't work .... in usercontrol why ? i didnt understand ..
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> function checkboxChecked(){ var allInputs = document.getElementsByTagName("input"); for(var i=0; i<allInputs.length; i++) { var chk = allInputs[i]; if(chk.type == "checkbox" && !chk.disabled && chk.checked) {
return true; } } alert("OOps! You haven't selected all available checkboxes"); return false; } </script>
