i want to make browser status bar show no address. I know how to disable window.status in a page, i add onmouseover="window.status='nothing';return true;" in a <body> tag, and it works but if i have lots of pages, like more than 100 pages, and i didn't use masterpage how can i disable all pages' status bar? add it page by page?

I have a web page that sends emails. When i click on Send mails button. A popup window pops out and starts sending mails. I disable the "Send Mails" button. The status of the process is shown in the popup window. (ex. 110 mails sent out of 12321).
How can i enable the button on my parent window once the process that is going on in the child window(popup) is done ?
What I would like to accomplish is: when user goes to www.mysite.com, then depending on whether he is logged in or not, he would see either login page or his home page. I do not want to redirect to other pages, I want the url to show as www.mysite.com in both cases. Kind of like when you go to facebook.com, it will either show you login page or your wall, all with the same url.

I have opened a pop up window from javascript.I want to do some work with this window
1- want to disable its close button
2- want to show this window always on top
3- want to change toolbar color.
I am running a sql script which Inserts 500 rows and after each insert, it calls a stored procedure which diplays result in the results window. So after executing 100 rows, it throws an error that maximum number od results in the results pane has reached its limit but the query executes successfully. How can we disable the stored proc output to not display in the results pane. I do not have access to the stored procedure.

In my development environment everything works as I expect. I can access all the pages and as soon as I get to a secured page I check the Request.IsAuthenticated and redirect to the login page if needed. The problems starts when I deploy the project under IIS7. When I access the site I'm being redirected to the login page (as defined in the web.config) although it suppose to be a public page... If I disable the Form Authentication in the admin console Request.IsAuthenticated always return true.So
How can I make IIS behaves like my ASP.NET development server?

View 5 RepliesI have a number of drop downs that the client can select a range of criteria. From this, they will press a button, the query will be generated and low and behold, a gridview will be produced in a new window (or at least give that impression) bound by an object datasource. I would also like the user to be able to amend the search numerous times so they can generate a number of new windows/gridviews.
Now then..what would be the best approach for achieving this result?
My initial thinking was to create a querystring generated by the client criteria selections (in the drop down lists), a new page would then take the querystring and populate the gridview here. My concern with this approach is that the query string could be a whopper...are there any disadvantages to creating a ridiculously long query string?
Alternatively, are there any other methods or ideas people have used to produce a similar desired effect?

View 2 RepliesI'm writing an HTTP handler in ASP.NET 4.0 and IIS7 and I need to generate a file-not-found condition.
I copied the following code from Mathew McDonald's new book, Pro ASP.Net 4 in C# 2010. (The response variable is an instance of the current HttpResponse.)
response.Status = "File not found";
response.StatusCode = 404;
However, I found that the first line generates the run-time error HTTP status string is not valid.
If, instead of the lines above, I use the following:
response.Status = "404 Not found";
Then everything seems to work fine. In fact, I even see that response.StatusCode is set to 404 automatically.
My problem is that I don't want this to fail on the production server. So I'd feel much better if I could understand the "correct" way to accomplish this. Why did the first approach work for Mathew McDonald but not for me? And is the second approach always going to be reliable?

at this page you can use w,a,s,d or keyboard arrow keys for walking [URL] ( username : test1234 , password : test1234 )
as you can see at image below when a player pushes the movement buttons faster ( without waiting to move completed ) status being aborted so it really prevents walking faster i want to prevent this is from happening ( disable buttons to be pushed so fast until post event completed )

I am trying to return true or false from popup window to the parent window. Actually the parent window has a button control, which on click popup another window. The popup window holds some emailing data and a button "send". This "send" button onclick send email. Now I want to return true if the email is successfully sent otherwise false, to the parent window. Depending on returning value a label present on parent window displays a text message. But I am not able to implement it. Because it might happen that the popup window is blocked by web-browsers popup blocker or popup window is accidentally closed by user. So how can I confirm to parent window whether or not the email is successfully sent?
