Dropdownlsit Value On Pageload Is Not Allowing

Mar 2, 2011

i want to store 1st item.value of dropdownlist on page load.

but it is not allowing:

-The text property of the textbox has got the value you typed, despite viewstate false
-The checkbox.checked property is true, despite viewstate off
- And the selectedValue property of the dropdown is "", no matter what you chose. And to avoid obvious stuff, in fact putting a break point on the load method of the page, just before clicking the button would have shown the same thing...

Response.Buffer = True
Response.ExpiresAbsolute = Now().Subtract(New TimeSpan(1, 0, 0, 0))
Response.Expires = 0

Allowing Administrators To Change SQL Server Connection?

Apr 7, 2010

What is your opinion on allowing administrators to update the SQL Server Connection string dynamically from the application versus just showing them the connection details in the application? Because the database connection is so important and on a heavily used system the abrupt change to the connection seems like it could cause problems. However I would think displaying the server and catalog and whether the connection is using SSPI or SQL Auth could be helpful for administrators who don't like playing with .NET config files.

Encoding - C# Multiline Textbox Allowing Input Above UTF-8?

Feb 7, 2010

In my web.config I have

<globalization
fileEncoding="utf-8"
requestEncoding="utf-8"
responseEncoding="utf-8"
culture="en-US"
uiCulture="de-DE"
/>

In my page directive I have

ResponseEncoding="utf-8"

Yet for some reason an ASP TextBox with the TextMode="MultiLine" allows inputs of characters outside of UTF-8. When I paste the following line of text into an ASP TextBox that is not MultiLine

the non UTF-8 characters are replaced, but not when I use a MultiLine TextBox.

EDIT: To explain a little more the set up I am seeing this problem in, here are 4 text areas that can be put on an ASP page.

<asp:TextBox ID="txtTest1" runat="server"></asp:TextBox>
<asp:TextBox ID="txtTest2" runat="server" TextMode="MultiLine"></asp:TextBox>
<input id="Text1" runat="server" />
<textarea id="Textarea1" cols="100" rows="8" runat="server">

Web Forms :: RequiredFieldValidators Are Allowing Postback To Occur?

Jul 28, 2010

I'm adding multiple TextBox and DropDownList controls programmatically on Page_Load. Some of them have attached RequiredFieldValidators that are being built programmatically as well. The issue I'm having is that when the Submit button (also added programmatically) is clicked, a postback occurs before the RequiredFieldValidators mark their respective fields as blank. How can I get these to fire client-side like they're supposed to?

Add ImageMap To Graph On PageLoad?

Jun 24, 2010

I have got a graph with x number of datapoints, the data for the graph is coming from a stored procedure. I want to make the labels for the datapoints hyperlinks and I believe the best way to do this is with an ImageMap.

I am needing some advice/guidance in achieving this. I understand how to use the imagemap control, but I need some in how to add the hotspots on pageload.

I have a store procedure which will return the pixel coorinates of each datapoints on the graph, I just need some with the code and how to loop through each record and add a hotspot for it.

Databases :: Get Number Of Columns From Excel Or Csv Before Allowing Upload?

I have a page within our site that allows admin users the ability to upload configuration settings into the system instead of submitting 1 at a time.

While testing yesterday, i found that one of the upload pages allowed me to upload a excel file that had alot more columns than expected and when i checked the database, the first few columns that were expected took the values from the file, and everything else was ignored, but wanted to see if there is any way to check the number of columns in the file to make sure it matches the upload logic before accepting it.
