Databases :: Get Number Of Columns From Excel Or Csv Before Allowing Upload?
Mar 16, 2011
I have a page within our site that allows admin users the ability to upload configuration settings into the system instead of submitting 1 at a time.
While testing yesterday, i found that one of the upload pages allowed me to upload a excel file that had alot more columns than expected and when i checked the database, the first few columns that were expected took the values from the file, and everything else was ignored, but wanted to see if there is any way to check the number of columns in the file to make sure it matches the upload logic before accepting it.
i did the mysql data export into excel in row wise when button click... here i want the same data export into columns wise..i used datatable and dataset for this function.. here i need all data should export in column..here i used some code..
I have an Excel file called Products.xls .I have Columns A and B, with the titles NAME and QUANTITY.The name of the sheet is SHEET1.The file has about 40 lines. How do i show these data on a Gridview or Listview ?
in my application i have to read from an excel files and check the value of every cell i'm using an OleDb connection to open it and reading but i have this issue if some of the cells in the excel sheet is having this warning when i try to read it returns DBNull ??could any one give me a clue ....knowing that i can not force the user for not having this warning ...i have to solve this within my code .
We have the data in excel file and want to upload the same into Oracle table. To achieve this we are using following query insert into [ODBC:Driver={Microsoft ODBC for oracle};connectionstring].tablename (select * from sheet$ ) This is working fine for less records but when the record count increases following is the error faced. Error : System Resource Exceeded
We tried the following: 1. We tried to remove connection pooling for oracle. 2. We tried to remove connection pooling for excel. 3. We also verified that only one connection for each (oracle and excel) is open.
Our assumptions: 1. Either the server setting is the issue 2. Jet oledb Driver is the issue.
I am using VS2010 and i am trying to block users typing alphabets and special charecters( allowed only numbers). ?I have written javascript and calling onkeydown and onkeyup events of my textbox. seems havascript doesn't firing up. am getting Uncaught ReferenceError javascript below is my user control code. Not sure why the javascript is not getting fired.
Using formview or details view, I want to allow users to both input data into columns (I know how to do that) and add additional columns to the existing table if necessary.
I want to allow people visiting my website to have the ability to change the displayed data in a DataGridView from a Dropdown box and have it auto postback. So options are in the dropdown box 10, 20, 30
I've a gridview which I am rendering to a html text writer and allowing clients to download as an excel spreadsheet using Response.Write. I'm using AJAX in my website now and suddenly it stopped working. This is the code I'm using
public static void Convert(DataSet ds, HttpResponse response) { try { //1. declare filename to export string filename = "export"; //2. clear response object response.Clear(); response.Charset = ""; //3. set response mime type to excel response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel"; //4. prompt user to download the file response.AppendHeader("content-disposition", "attachment; filename=" + filename + ".xls"); //5. create a string writer StringWriter stringWrite = new StringWriter(); //6. create html writer which uses the string writer HtmlTextWriter htmlWrite = new HtmlTextWriter(stringWrite); //7. instantiate a gridview GridView gv = new GridView(); //8. set gridview datasource to the dataset gv.DataSource = ds.Tables[0]; //9. bind gridview gv.DataBind(); //10. tell the gridview to render itself into htmltextwriter gv.RenderControl(htmlWrite); //11. output html response.Write(stringWrite.ToString()); //12. end response response.End(); } catch (Exception ex) { string str = ex.Message; } }
I've found that Response.Write doesn't work with AJAX. Are there any alternatives to this?
I'm looking for a way to have user upload as many images as they want (perhaps via drag and drop) or dynamically adding more upload box.I thought statically fixing (say 6) HTML upload input box is slightly limiting and the user have to click "Browse" button (6 times in this example) and navigating to the folder to pick the file. What is the best practice to achieve this so users find it easy to use? Perhaps with some AJAX magic?I also wouldn't mind having the user click "Upload more" to reveal (say 6 more) HTML upload input box.
I am trying to create double and number format cells in excel using NPOI library. I used code like
Dim cell As HSSFCell = row.CreateCell(j) cell.SetCellValue(Double.Parse(dr(col).ToString))
In excel numbers are aligning right but when I check format it is showing in "General"
then I changed my code to like below
Dim cell As HSSFCell = row.CreateCell(j) cell.SetCellValue(Double.Parse(dr(col).ToString)) Dim cellStyle As HSSFCellStyle = hssfworkbook.CreateCellStyle cellStyle.DataFormat = HSSFDataFormat.GetBuiltinFormat("#,#0.0") cell.CellStyle = cellStyle
Then While opening file it is giving error and also taking so long to open. But Excel format showing in "Number" error showing is like below.
Is there a way to import an amount of data from an excel sheet using the sheet rowindex, something like: SELECT * FROM [PLAN1$] WHERE ROWINDEX BETWEEN 1 AND 1000?
I'm writing a reporting tool that, as a starting point, needs to create a DB table from a csv file. This csv file will have been created from exporting data from our old system (with the new system being the reporting tool) and can have up to 300 columns of data. I've been trying as follows:
[Code]....
but am finding that only the first 255 columns get put in. I am assumg that the Jet driver is the one that is limiting the columns, or is there a registry setting somewhere that'll solve it quickly?
Is there another approach that'll work? I've though of the following, but as it'll take a while to recode and test each time I thought I'd ask the experts first!!
BULK INSERT: would mean that I'd need to pre-create the table first, but if the issue is with the Jet driver I'd surely get the same problem? Use a datatable: it seems pretty fiddly and probably a lot slower, but I guess I could read into a dataset and then bind that to a table to insert? Again the table would need to exist and the driver that I use to read from the csv would be the issue? Do it one row at a time in a loop in the code: assuming I can read the file as text, I could then split the data in code into an array and create a insert statement (again to an existing table) for each row. With what could be 1000s of rows I can't imagine that this is the fastest solution!
I am using PL/SQL Developer. I have a Table "C_PARTY_HXRF". Now I want see the Column Names and the corresponding Data types of this Table. Which Command should I Use?
I'm developing a CMS of sorts, and I want to give my users the possibility of customizing the display. More precisely, I want to give them the ability to choose to display or hide the left column, the right column and/or the top div. The middle column cannot be hidden since this is where the actual content will show, whereas the other columns are for navigation or side menus.
I've been looking for a way to make this as smart and flexible as possible. For now I'm using a MasterPage, but that seems to be too constraining. For instance, with MasterPage you need to add a ContentPlaceHolder control in every of your ASPX pages.
What are the best practices in this area? I guess a simpler way of saying this would be "I want to create a template system over which I have complete control".
I am using PL/SQL Developer.I have a below query select distinct
DATA_SRC_CD as Source, FILE_NM as File_Name, PATH as File_Path from PKG_SFI_REPORTS.DATALOAD2SUMMARYETLRPRT("FACTS","CM_DDL_PARTY_2011_01_12_08_24_09.DAT") In the above Query PKG_SFI_REPORTS => Package, DATALOAD2SUMMARYETLRPRT=> Procedure. "FACTS" and "CM_DDL_PARTY_2011_01_12_08_24_09.DAT" => Parameters Now I need to know the Data Types of "DATA_SRC_CD" and "FILE_NM" and "PATH". How can I Know?
