Dynamic Data Application Won't Accept Input With "<" In It?

Mar 5, 2010

I'm new to using asp.net dynamic data apps.. I just generated a simple app from my schema, and in one table I'm trying to insert a record where one of the fields is a varchar(255) field. I am finding that any input that has the "<" character in it will cause the app to throw an error when you try to save it, with the exception being if "<" is the last character in the input string. Since the editinsert function is some ajax based call, it just gives me a generic javascript error indicating whatever webservice it tried to hit for the update threw a 500 error and I have no idea how to debug this.

Iīm creating a user page to enable editing their profiles. When hitting the "update" button, it turns out that the field still contains the old value, although youīre looking at the new one, ie the text property of the textbox isnīt the value of the parameter which in fact gets its value from the text property. As far as I know I havenīt done anything I havenīt done before, both in apps and website?

Web Forms :: Method Wont' Accept Input Form Textboxes

Jan 21, 2010

I've written a small class .That has a method for adding and subtracting.

My class file is fine and everything works well when I hard code the integer values. But the moment I try to use textboxes in my methods signature to accept values it complains that this is an inavlid argument. I assume that this is because I used int as my signatures but then how can i use my class to textboxes as input.

Class Code

Web Forms :: Compare Validator To Accept The Input Format From The Calendar Extender?

Nov 2, 2010

I have an AJAX Calendar extender that puts the date in the textbox in this format: MMMM d, yyyy. I also have a compare validator control that does at DataTypeCheck for DATE. However, when the Calendar Extender enters the date as MMMM d, yyyy (eg. November 2, 2010) the compare validator doesn't like it. It only seems to like the date in the format MM/dd/yy. Not sure how to get this compare validator to accept the input format from the calendar extender?

VB.NET Web Application Input Box / Input Box That Comes Up When A User Clicks 'Find' Button?

Aug 4, 2010

I would like to program an Input Box that comes up when a user clicks 'Find' button. It asks 'Please enter an employee number'. Then it takes the employee number typed into a text box and searches a dataset for that specific employee record.

I know that it should be server side because the client may not have the proper javascript installed or diabled. Therefore, can someone give me some code to put in code behind that can pop up an input box and use the input after, if this can be done?

Configuring Application To Always Accept GET Request From A Particular IP Address?

Aug 26, 2010

I have an application that's locked down using forms authentication. There are few nightly tasks I want to script that make get requests to, say, http://myapp.domain.com/NightlyTask ... I don't need any response, I just need it to accept a get request from a certain IP address. I realize you could spoof an IP address, etc. but I'm trying to make this dead simple. Is there anyway I can setup the Web.config to unconditionally give access to a certain IP? Any other idea to approach this?Again, long-term solution would be a service running Quartz or some other cron-like job handler. I'm not quite there yet, hoping for an interim solution

Oct 21, 2010

We have a requirement of creating an input page which might be different for different users, changing will be in terms of number and type of fields. How should I architect this page. Should i create page using "XML and XSLT" or "XML and database fields" or is there any more flexible way to create this type of page. I couldn't visualise the flow in which this should be implemented.

ADO.NET :: Linq Search - Dynamic Query Based On User Input?

I have two text boxes for the user to enter UserName & First Name, both these fields are optional and not mandatory to fill.

once the user presses the Search button, i execute the following query to fetch matching records.

[Code]....

The problem is, in cases where User leaves both the textbox or one of the textbox empty/blank, in that case that particular field should be removed from where clause.

More like if something is entered then search for that particular record otherwise search for all the records.

Automatically Set A Property Value For A New Record In A Dynamic Data Application?

Aug 21, 2010

I have a SalesOrderItem table, and it has a UnitPrice column in case the salesperson wishes to override the unit price of the Product for that order item.

In an ASP.NET Dynamic Data application, what would be the best way to set that UnitPrice property on a new SalesOrderItem based on the standard UnitPrice for the product? In other words, when the user clicks New on the 'Items' screen for a sales order, the UnitPrice field should already be filled in with the normal unit price for the product.

Web Forms :: Changing Values Of Input Type Hidden Tags - Dynamic Paypal BuyNow Button Using .net Codebehind?

Nov 26, 2010

I have static html paypal buynow button that works great, but it's static.

[Code]....

But it is possible to change the values for the hidden inputs from .net codebehind code? I found this post which takes a different approach of sending these hidden fields instead as a query string to paypal. Not sure I like that though as would this not possiby explose some of those fields like the return page?

http://www.makaistudio.com/mksBlog/post/ASPNet-and-Paypal-buy-now-button-Offer-discount-at-checkout-in-code-behind.aspx

Basically what id like to do change the important parts of the button and info I'm sending to make it dynamic.I know I can do something like this in the markup, but that would mean having to fetch data mulitple times was hoping I could somehow adderss the field values directly in the codebehind. Or possibly dynaically generate and insert the entire changing input type fields from the codebehind

<input type="hidden" name="invoice" value="<%= getinvoice()%>">

Possible to add them with something like this: myform.Attirbutes.Add (???). If so how do I contruct these input types in .net?As far as return logic security, I've tested that it's solid, i just need to automate the button process so I don't have to create a buy now page and button for each product.

Php - Validate If An Web Application Gets The Users Input Or Parameters?

Oct 21, 2010

I am always thinking about validation in any kind on the webpage (PHP or ASP, it doesn't matter), but never find a good and accurate answer. For example, a I have some GET-Parameter, which defines a SQL query like DESC oder ASC. (SQL-Injection?) Or I have a comment-function for user, where the data is also saved in a database.

Is it enought to check for HTML-tags inside the data? Should the validation done before adding it to the database or showing it on the page? I am searching for the ToDo's which should be always performed with any data given from "outside".
