I am binding a gridView to a List<model>. I am able to export it to an excel file but I am not able to remove a specific column. I tried gridView.Columns.RemoveAt(myIndex) but didn't work and threw a null exception and I am assuming this is because the gridView is not binded to a dataTable.
var models = new ModelService().List(startDate, DateTime.Now); var gridView = new GridView { DataSource = models }; gridView.DataBind();

How do I bind data from an Excel file named Book1.xlsx in Column A to a dropdownlist? I've tried like this:
Code: connExcel.Open() cmdExcel.CommandText = "SELECT distinct BCName From [Sheet1$] where BCName <> '' and ProjectName like 'Total%';" oda.SelectCommand = cmdExcel oda.Fill(dt2) connExcel.Close() dropdown1.DataSource = dt2 dropdown1.DataBind()
But the dropdown is filled with "System.Data.DataRowView" for all the 5 lines in the dropdown. How do I get the values shown instead of this? It must be some formatting of dt2 I think.
I want to import a spreadsheet into SQL. The import/export wizard forces Column A to be a double. In Excel, the column is formatted as text. When I try to convert from double to text/varchar/nvarchar, the import process fails. Why can't I convert a number to text in SQL?
I need a way to read all the rows in one column from an Excel file that the user picks from a fileupload control. I tried saving the excel file on the webserver with the upload control and then opening it with a OleDbConnection but that fails when running it from the webserver and gives the error:
Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.OleDb.OleDbPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.
This works fine when just running it localhost, so i figured it might be a problem with security level at the webserver which i cant change. Instead i tried doing it with a streamreader direct from the fileupload control and because theres no need for saving the excel file on the server, but im not sure how to query the rows i need this way.

I am trying to export my Model to an Excel sheet. I have 31 fields out of which only 29 are exported. Among the 3 fields that I am not able to export 2 are of type Enum and one of DateTime. Their is another DateTime field also, but that is exported properly. Here are few fields of the model :
[EnumDataType(typeof(Suffix)), Display(Name = "Suffix *")] [Required(ErrorMessage = "Suffix is Required")] public Suffix NameSuffix { get; set; } [EnumDataType(typeof(InquiryStatus)), Display(Name = "Status")] [Required(ErrorMessage = "Status is Required")]
