Handle Odd File Extensions?
Jan 27, 2010I'm migrating an asp site to a new asp.net site.
The old site has file extensions like "product.asp_q_e_200" (where 200 would be a product ID).
how I can handle these odd extensions?

I purchased a new computer and put all my development software on. Now when I load an asp.net 2.0 project I get the following error:-
Code:

I've just upgraded a site from ASP to ASP.net and I'm looking for instruction on how best to handle the redirects. The domain isn't changing but I need to handle the change in file extensions (.asp to .aspx) as well as changing the underscores in the file names to hyphens.
From what I've found so far, creating a rule in the web.config is probably going to be the most convenient approach as this site is in a shared hosting environment, but I'm just not sure of the syntax to use.
I'm searching folders using the following code. Is it possible to use this code to search for *.mp4, *.mp3, and *.m4v files instead of just *.mp4 files?

View 5 RepliesI had web application developed in VS 2005 + Sql server 2005 + Ajax 1.0 Extension . (Developed in Windows Server 2005) Now i am migrating to VS 2008.(Windows Server 2008 + Sql server 2008)
After opening and compile my Existing application in VS 2008,i am getting error.
Errors :-
Unable to load file or assembly 'System.web.Extenstions'' version=1.0.61025. (I think it because of AJAX Extension version.So i installed AJAX Extension 1.0 but it will give me ambiguous error so i uninstalled.I am added reference for version=3.5.0 but again unsuccessful.) What i will do now? Also i used 'Microsoft.SqlServer.SmoEnum', Version=9.0.242.0 in VS 2005. (Are i have to change it to version=10.0.0.0? by adding reference to new version.) I also used crystal report.(Is there is anything to do with it?)
I'm working on my ASP Application 2.0 framework with AJAX Extension 1.0 installed on my pc. I'm getting an error on my CrystalReportViewer:Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Extensions, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)" I already tried some solutions I found in google but it's still im getting the error.:

I have an ASP.Net web site (ASPX and ASMX pages) with a single web.config file. We have a development version and a production version. Over time, the web.config files for development and production have diverged substantially. What is the best practice for keeping both versions of web.config in source control (we use Tortoise SVN but I don't think that matters)?
It seems like I could add the production web.config file with a name like "web.config.prod", and then when we turnover all the files we would just add the step of deleting the existing web.config and renaming web.config.prod to web.config. This seems hackish, although I'm sure it would work. Is there not some mechanism for dealing with this built in to Visual Studio? It seems like this would be a common issue, but I haven't found any questions (with answers) about this.
I am saving an image file, then using Image namespace to resize the image.
The problem is that from the point of when image is saved to the system, to the point where image resizing is handled, the file handle seem not to get released right away, giving me error "A generic error occurred in GDI+"
Here is my code:
I am using asyncfileupload ajax control, C# in VS 2008
string filename = System.IO.Path.GetFileName(AsyncFileUpload1.FileName);
AsyncFileUpload1.SaveAs(Server.MapPath("./") + "abc.jpeg");
//File handle seems not get released right away here.
System.Drawing.Image FullsizeImage = System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(Server.MapPath("./") + "abc.jpeg");
System.Drawing.Image NewImage = FullsizeImage.GetThumbnailImage(60, 60, null, IntPtr.Zero);
NewImage.Save(Server.MapPath("./") + "abc.jpeg");
Do anyone of you know how to handle XXX.X IIS HTTP errors in a web.config file? I tried doing the following:
<customErrors mode="On" defaultRedirect="error.aspx">
<error statusCode="403" redirect="error403.aspx" />
<!--NOTE: The following does not work-->
<error statusCode="403.9" redirect="error403.9.aspx" />
<!--ENDNOTE-->
<error statusCode="404" redirect="error404.aspx" />
</customErrors>
But obviously that didn't worked, because the web.config file expects an integer as the statusCode value.
CONTEXT: WinServer 2003 - ASP.NET 3.5
In my application the user uploads three files ( Resume, Cover Letter, Selection Creteria).
I want users not to upload more then 4 MB files, so In my web.confing file I have allowed max of 5 MB. <httpRuntime maxRequestLength="5000"/>. I did this so that I can validate the file and give user a message that they are trying to upload more then 4 MB file.
It all works fine if the user is only uploading resume. But if the user uploads all three files of size 4MB then my validation does not work and it goes to connection time out.
How can i handle the validation to check the file size of all 3 files?

With System.Data.DataSetExtensions everything is clear for me, it contains such useful extension methods as DataTable.AsEnumerable() and DataTable.CopyToDataTable().
And what about System.Web.Extensions.dll? What useful members could you mention to use?

This question may sound strange and defy all programmer's logic, but I want to know if there is any way I can do AJAX on a website (ASP.NET MVC) without using the extensions provided by Microsoft?
I've done AJAX using PHP w/ jQuery. This is the first time I'll be doing it with ASP .NET, however the requirement is that I cannot use Microsoft's AJAX libraries or jQuery (or basically anything thats easy).point me to any resources that might help me re-invent the wheel?
I moved a site to another server, it worked fine for a a while, but then crashed. I figured out that System.Web.Extensions.dll was missing, so I copied it again. After a while it was missing again. Using Process Monitor I figured out that IIS (w3wp.exe) deletes the file soon after I copy it to the bin folder. (CreateFile with "Read Attributes, Delete" access.)
View 1 RepliesI am an ASP.NET C# web developer.The architecture followed is 3 layer The layers used are
1. UI
2. BLL (Sometimes Communicating with BLL is done using WebServices)
3. DAL
Pretty basic stuff.
What I would really like to have is a BLL.Common class in the BusinessLogics.Here I would like to use some useful extensions and helper functions that we use in almost all applications.
An example will IsNullOrEmpty extension.
Which are the helper functions most commonly used by developers?It would be better if I could get a list.
