i want when pages load the gridview displays the all records from table1 and also ...i i wanna search record for firstname by typing sumit in textbox1 and click on button1 then in gridview the record of sumit will be shown ..by default gridview display alll records from table1

How to display empty GridView to insert new record if no data retreived for some record on the result from data table?Actually i am trying to give a user an option to add recrod from Gridview. On result of some query it is perfectly displaying data and a footer row with the insertion textbox but when there is no data in the gridview it is not displaying. It should display with footer having insert textbox.

I'm trying to put together a drop down list in asp.net from a query, I just wondered if I could go about it this way ( see code below). At the moment, ive got it to display the first record of the table in the drop down list. I would like to fill the drop down list with the whole of the recordset:

I have an issue that I've spent quite a bit of time trying to solve. I have a Detailsview and a Gridview that I have linked using the ID field, It has now been decided that they want to have individual pages for each Unit. I have this working for the most part, however the detailsview is not being displayed until I hit select the row in the gridview.
How do I get this to automatically display on page load?

I have MyStudentList table having StudId,StudName,CourseId,Timing fields. There are number of entries here. I want to maintain their attendance.
I created a table StudentAttendance with fields StudId, AttendanceDateTime,AttendanceStatus(True/False) bit data type.
I fetched students list in GridView from MyStudentList table and want to display editable CheckBox. I just see student and able to tick it. The entry should be inserted in StudentAttendance table.
How i can implement it. First I will try on it.

I have a GridView and DetailsView on the same page. If the GridView has data, I can Select a row and it brings up the DetailsView from which I can edit that record or click NEW to create a new record. Without a record to Edit, the New link and the DetailsView control is not visible. What is considered best practices for Inserting the 1st record using a same page Gridview / DetailsView combination?

I am counting from a table for that i have written code as below

I have a table thats created dynamically, the table gets its contents from a custom class I've created that gets statistical data from a database. As the table is generated dynamically, I've put the contents class (the table data) into a session object and I populate the table initially inside a !IsPostback then on the page init I get the data from the session (its empty on the firts page load). I am now getting this error: Multiple controls with the same ID 'controlnamehere' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs. How can I avoid this?

I want to show a waiting image/progress bar on page load event. In page load event, some code is being processed for displaying a report which takes 1/2 minutes to display on the aspx page, meanwhile the aspx is being empty and nothing is displyed, this is not so userfriendly. So, I want to show an image indicating page is being processed. I tried searching in google and found some code samples but couldnt achieve my target. How to implement this. Requirement is nothing but: Display an image/progress bar until the report is processed.
