Im wondering if anyone knows how to display more than one record on the same page for a detailsview control? I could do with maybe displaying 10 per page but cant see no option for doing this.
I have datagrid. i loading data to grid from user control like below
[code]....
when i click the button Show child item. all the child item are displaying except one. for first child item not displaying, but one of parent items is displaying inside child grid.
it seems like previous parents data is loading to one of child record. How can i prevent that?
I have update panel on the page to avoid postback and placed a dropdownlist control within that update panel. DrodownList is filled with Category names and also it's autopostback set to True.
Now whenever dropdownlist index change's on select, untill page loads complete data it should show mesage as "Loading.... in center and middle of the page and background should become bit transparent". And when page load completely with data then that background and message should get disappear.
I am using paging to my gridview (pagesize=4) . now i am in (X) page and i want to get (X+1) page top record or (X-1)page bottom record , how i can get .
My question is about limiting the record display. I do not prefer to use paging. For example, I have 100 records in database. I only want to display the best 10 record. Im using Visual Web Developer 2010.
The link was close in answering my question but again, I prefer not to have paging or sorting in the form view or the control.
How to display empty GridView to insert new record if no data retreived for some record on the result from data table?Actually i am trying to give a user an option to add recrod from Gridview. On result of some query it is perfectly displaying data and a footer row with the insertion textbox but when there is no data in the gridview it is not displaying. It should display with footer having insert textbox.
I have to use progress bar when page postback. in my application report section is there. it's taking some time to generate the report. so i want to show some progress bar.
When page load progress bar should show. and when page load finish the progress bar should hide.
I googled many thing mostly they are using thread.sleep method but i don't want that.
The progress bar should fully depend on page loads.
I have two tables. One table containing 1 master record and the other table containing multiple records per 1 master record. I want to only display in a gridview (or whatever is best) the master record AND its assocated detail records IF certain fields in the detail records are there. I have been trying to figure out how to do this but I am still a bit of a newbie and I don't how I can do this.
I have one div in my page i want show my store information in that div from DB

It is just one time per page how i can do it?I know that i can use gridview, datalist but here i just need read my data just 1 time from DB i dont want repeat it so what can i do?
I have a scenario where I have two data grids (both dynamic) to be loaded onto a page. However, the data that needs to be shown on one of the grids has no dependence on the data of the other grid. So, when fetching the data, I want to fetch it in an asynchronous manner and bind that data to each of the grids individually. Currently we have a code like
GetData(ForGridOne) ; GetData(ForGridTwo);
I want to make these calls asynchronously so that in order to load the page, the time taken would be lesser. What should be the ideal way to go forward with this ? One more thing, we would be hosting the application in a portlet which doesn't support AJAX.
I know you can do paging in gridview but is there a way which allows u to load one page ie page 1 and then when the user select page 2 it loads that page...because I will have 100,000 rows and I dont want to load all of them.. But I need to show all, so is there a way which u can do paging which allows u to load a page at a time?
I am trying to find the best way to have a page with a lot of data from queries to a database load faster. Looking at [URL], when viewing information about a domain, I see that their page loads and each section has a loading symbol, so the page itself displays fast and the data comes when it is available. How do they do this? Update panels around each section with a call to a Web Service? Also, Google AdWords seems to do this too when you load the Ads or Keywords tabs of a Campaign.
I have a requirement like need to display 5000+ records in gridview. So, I created scrollable div with gridview init and displaying 200 records per page. The website is running very slow because eveytime when user click on paging, it retrieving all the records from the database. I need to increase the website performance. I heard about a concept Girdview lazy loading but i don't know how to implement. I am looking for a solution like records should display in gridview when ever user scroll the bar down. How to do the gridview lazy loading.
I have a page that performs a long-running task (10 to 15 seconds) in the page_load method.
I have client-side javascript code that will display a decent "page loading" animated gif to the user.
I am able to invoke the JavaScript method from the code-behind, to display the "page loading" animated gif, however, the long-running task is hanging up the UI such that the animated gif doesn't actually display until after the long-running task is complete, which is the exact opposite of what I want.
To test this out, in my page_load method I make a call to the JavaScript method to display the animated gif. Then, I use Thread.Sleep(10000). What happens is that the animated gif doesn't display until after Thread.Sleep is complete.
So, I'm trying to use form view in insert mode on a dedicated aspx page. So when a user clicks "Add New" from the main GridView page, it will take the user to an Insert.aspx page that will be in Insert mode ready to collect information.
Here's what I have so far, and all I get is a blank page when I try to run it.
I have a drop down which gets data from database.I want to show not all entries but the very last one entered by employee. What do I have to add to the sql script to get me very last entry and hide the rest.this is my Sql data source:
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource2" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:CompanyInfoEventsConnectionString %>" SelectCommand="SELECT [ID], [NameOne] FROM [Gpi_DayOff] ORDER BY [ID] DESC"> </asp:SqlDataSource>
I do not even know what to call it, but I would like to add something to show my page is loading. I have not yet figured out why, but sometimes they load almost instantly. And sometimes they take up to 15 seconds, giving the impression that nothing is goingto happen. I see a little clock face ticking on some websites. I don't care what it is, as long as I can suggest that the site visitor be patient
