DataSource Controls :: Using Values Selected From A "check Box List' In A SQL Select Query?

Jul 5, 2010

I have a table called 'Customer' that contains customer information. One of the fields is named "CustomerType". Each record in the 'Customer' table will contain the value of either "C", "I", or "O".

I have a form that contains a "check box list" named "Type". There are 3 values in the "check box list". The values are "C", "I", and "O". The user can select one or more of these values. I have a button on the form named "btnRunQuery.

When the user clicks on the button "btnRunQuery" I want to exectute a query that selects the records contained in the "Customer" table where the value in the field "CustomerType" equal the values the user selected in the "check box list". Example: If the user selected "C" and "O", then I want the select query to select all records that contain either "C" or "O" in the field "CustomerType".

I assume that what I need to do is to capture the values that the user selected in the "check box list" and put them in a variable. Then I need to format the "Where" statement in the query and add a "Parameters.AddWithValue" command.

Binary Holding Boolean Values?

Jul 9, 2010

I have a 32 bit number in my DB/ DAL layer that is used to represent some yes/no facilities about hotels. so I for example bit might mean "has swimming pool", bit 2 might mean "reception desk" etc etc.Currently I have some code in the BLL that says if (number and 2) = 2 then .ispool = true - this is repeated for any many boolean hotel referances I have.What happens then is in the UI have then say something like if .ispool = true then display swimming pool icon.

Then it occurs to me that I am testing the value twice
1) To test the bin to bool in the BLL and create the structure
2) to test the structure to dislay the icon.

If I move the if (number and 2) = 2 to the UI I get the same result with one less if.Is there some better way or code do deal with this, maybe loop through the structure or something like that or an asp way that is more suitable to deal with binary representation of boolean's.

Configuration :: ConfigurationManager Seems To Compile The Values Into Binary?

Jul 23, 2010

This is a bizarre behaviour I've just noticed, but very dangerous.I have the following line of code:

using (SqlConnection connection = new SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings["SmartFormsDB"].ConnectionString))

When I run in my dev environment works fine, but when I compile and push my code to the test machine that contains a web.config with a Test DB setting, the test website
still uses my dev connection string. It's behaving as if the connection string was compiled into the binary!

Run A SQL Query With A List Of String Values Using The "WHERE [columnname] IN [values]" Format?

Mar 11, 2011

I have a SQL query I'm running in an ASP.NET page. The final parsed SQL needs to contain a list of string values in the WHERE [columnname] IN [values] format. For example, the final query might look something like this:

SELECT PRODUCTNAME FROM PRODUCT WHERE PRODUCTCODE IN ('ABC','DEF','GHI','JKL', /* etc */);

However, the string values in the WHERE clause need to be dynamic. Normally I use parametrized queries to make my code convenient and safe, so conceptually I'd like to do something like this:

String[] productCodes = { "ABC", "DEF", "GHI", "JKL" };
SqlCommand cmd = "SELECT PRODUCTNAME FROM PRODUCT WHERE PRODUCTCODE IN (@ProductCodes)";
cmd.Parameters.Add("@ProductCodes", productCodes);

However, this sort of functionality doesn't appear to exist in .NET. How should I go about implementing this? I could use a foreach loop on the array and run a query with a single value as a parameter for each value, but there could potentially be a hundred or so different values in the array and it seems like querying them separately would be very inefficient.

I've read another question where someone suggested a solution for strongly-typed int parameters, but that method would make me nervous about SQL injection when used with String values, especially since the client may very well be able to influence the input values.

How would you implement this query functionality?

EDIT with DB Details:

The database is SQL Server 2005.

Check Ip Address Against A Range Of Values Using C#?

Dec 14, 2010

We are writing a feature that allows an administrator to block/allow ranges of ip addresses.

Is this easy enough to do with c#?

I was thinking of looking at each number [here].[here].[here].[here] and then mathing it with the ranges and just seeing if each number was between the two?

Will that work for standard ip v4 addresses?

.net - CheckboxList Checked Values Not Stored?

Nov 30, 2010

I'm having a bit of trouble with my CheckBoxList control in ASP.NET - it seems to not store the values that I have checked (?)This is the test-code I have at the moment:

for (int i = 0; i < cbMemberTypes.Items.Count; i++)
{
if (cbMemberTypes.Items[i].Selected)
{
// do stuff
}
}

I have tried to output the amount of checked items, but it is always returning 0. I'm rather lost here, because in my other usercontrol, it works perfectly!

JQuery :: Check Values In Html Page?

Mar 18, 2011

I have written a ajax function that I will check the result of a div tag to see if I want to hide the partial view and show the result. The result depends on what is coming back from the controller and the html(result variable). It should only go to the else statement if the return html string does not contain a div tag with id "valRegno". I do not know how I can find the div tag and check if it is there or not. The "result" htmls are nice and show me the details I am intrested but I can not extract it from the html string.

Here is the code I have come up with:

SQL Stored Procedures Failing To Return Values?

Sep 7, 2010

I am working on a Tag system for a news page designed in ASP.NET. For the system I require a TagExists method to check for tags within the database. The stored procedure I have written is below.

[Code]....

I have tried switching the procedure to return 0 if the tag exists and 1 if it does not and it still returns 0 despite the exact same testing conditions. I have also returned the actual select query and it has complained of the Tag "news" (my test item) not being an int on execution showing the select itself is definitely properly formed.

ADO.NET :: Stored Procedures Only Return Integer Values?

MOVE_MOD is defined as a float.

Yet within Dataclasses.designer.cs the function gets added as:

Naturally this is causing some issues as my C# code needs to handle decimal values. If I try to manually change the designer code to use floats, I get the following error

'System.Single' is not a valid return type for a mapped stored procedure method.
