I have a column (data type timestamp) in SQL Server 2008.Now I want to show this timestamp value in ASP.Net C# app as string. Is there any way to do that?I tried it using regular data fetching in ASP.Net but it produced System.byte[] as output rather than actual value. In SQL Server Management Studio values are represented as 0x000000000000B3C0

I'm trying to have an asp.net custom control with a field like:
<ErrorTemplate>
<h1>Error</h1>
<p>Blue wizard shot the food</p>
</ErrorTemplate>
What I want to end up with is:
<h1>Error</h1><p>Blue wizard shot the food</p> in a string in my codebehind.
At the moment, the process I use to get this data out of the template is:
First this gets instantiated into a placeholder by my code:
ErrorTemplate.InstantiateIn(errorPHolder);
which is an asp.net placeholder control - it has to be instantiated into something which can support controls.
What I then want to do is add this to my page using JQuery and a variable, like this:
string script = "var Errortemplate = " + errorPHolder.ToString() + ";";
scriptmanager.register(script); // pseudocode
so the result would be, on my page:
var Errortemplate = '<h1>Error</h1><p>Blue wizard shot the food</p>';
Then I can use JQuery to do someDiv.html(Errortemplate);
Finally resulting in whatever they put in <ErrorTemplate> appearing on the page
Because I'm using JQuery it might be possible to do this a different way, such as adding the placeholder to the page into a hidden div and using JQuery to copy the values out.

I am trying to render a hyperlink to html. ( etc)
When the page loads it works fine. (and lots 10 links) on the update panel it hits the same function and tries to get another 10 links. I set the navigationURL to something like
"../Folder/Mypage.aspx?498592ghjgfosdfgo"
It is set identically both times(load and updatepanel postback) but when i try to render it to html the second time (on the update panel) it adds "../" to the front so i end up with
"../../Folder/Mypage.aspx?498592ghjgfosdfgo"
The function where it changes here
Public Shared Function RenderControl(ByVal c As Control) As String
Dim sw As New IO.StringWriter
Dim htmlw As New HtmlTextWriter(sw)
c.RenderControl(htmlw)
Return sw.ToString
End Function
c is the hyperlink which has the propertry navigationurl (this never gets changed) but the sw which ends up looking like this on load
<a id="lnkView" href="../Folder/mypage.aspx?AnTfh0ZsFP9NCxiBpM+Zd11cI+AUOF93HZQtumPgzMKky0PejGrda9I6kCFn070dOsIfq0M2AgI=">View</a>}
and this on panel update
<a id="lnkView" href="../../Folder/mypage.aspx?AnTfh0ZsFP9NCxiBpM+Zd11cI+AUOF93HZQtumPgzMKky0PejGrda9I6kCFn070dOsIfq0M2AgI=">View</a>}

How to wire up HTML server controls events?
I added a Input (Text) control in my web form and turned it into an HTML server control so its an instance of HtmlInputText class.
If I double click on the control It only adds a OnClick event handler method inside the script tags in the HTML doc of the web form but how to I get to handle its Serverchange event exactly? does VS.net 2008 has no ability to auto wire up the event to the control, do I have to manually wire up the event handler?

I have project in development where string operations like "Hi " + variable + ", welcome to Project" are used at many places (given example is very minor one).
One of the requirement is to convert it to string.format style.
It is very long and tedious job, where I would not like to break earlier working code due to any human error might happen while converting it.
I would like to if any Macro or VS command which I can create to handle it. Just like we mark block of code and do Extract function in Re-factor options.
