How To Check That A SqlDataSource Returned Data

I have a asp.net page that has several SqlDataSources defined that feed data into some graphs. The problem is that the graph product does not handle "no data" very well, and throws an error. I'd like this to handle the situation more gracefully-- so I need to check whether the SqlDataSource returned data or now before rendering the graph (and if not, just post a message saying "No Data" or something).
Is there an easy way to check if the data source returned data, and do this if/then without a bunch of code behind?

I am trying to run the following SQL query

The problem is I need to check to see if any data has been returned from the SQL query, if there are no rows/ data returned by the query then I need to display a message to say that there aren't. I know that there isn't a 'number of rows method' for the dtrReader, so does anybody know how I could do this?

I have a sql view of a table, I need to check whether it is empty, if it is empty, I need to hide a grid, other wise I need to show it.

How to make this method return boolean value, depending on query return. False - nothing, True - data exists. Before i just returned int from uniqueQuote.Count() but does not look like great method.

i have a UP and DOWN buttons ouside a gridview and a checkbox inside the templated field .I will check the checkbox to sleect a row , after that if i click on UP button the checkbox above the selected checkbox should be selected.

I have a grid view with two columns...one column has a no. like (123) and a check box....which user can checked or unchecked......all I need to do is that I need to disable the man handling of that check box......rather I would like to see a seperate grid view with the same no. of rows as of the first and in this gridview I may allow to type in or scan the no. and if this scanned or typed number matches any no. in the first gridview number then the corresponding check box should be checked/unchecked.

Is it possible to bind data to specfic columns in Gridview?
I mean, if I send a query to my database and it returns 1 column, then bind that column to the first column in the gridview, then send another query and bind the resulting column from that query to the second column without erasing the data of the first column etc etc.

in .net 4.0 c# I am trying to figure out how to get all the Tags.TagName for a given product
First I get the Tag by the TagId they select, then I do another select on the Products table and join ProductTags to find any product that is using the specified tag.
Now I have to get all the tags associated with each returned product from the previous list.

I am using a nested listview to display a seperate grid for each group of data returned from my db query. To get this working, I have adapted a piece of code to group the data prior to it being bound:

This works as I want it to however some of the fields within the nested table need to be formatted as currency so I am trying to use Eval and {0:c} to do this however the moment I use Eval, the data items cannot be found

I can't find the answer anywhere, and the particulars are driving me crazy. I've been tasked with updating an older application, using only javascript for client UI stuff. Reports used to be generated using PDF templates and manually looping through datasets and basically doing a form fill, then displaying the report. This has crashed the server many, many times. I've since updated the app to use a report server, to help bring that report generation load offline. Every works fine, except that the animated GIF will not stop after the report returns. I use :

Along with the following javascript:

Which works beautifully. On the server side, I have something like this:

Response.End();
Where data is the byte stream return by the report server. The only thing that is not working is that the animated GIF will continue to play even after the report is delivered and the user clicks on the open/save/cancel dialog. I suspected it was the Response.End(); call, but even eliminating the line and letting the server to continue to run does not alleviate this problem. It seems that the page is NOT performing any postback after the report data is received, and the .html source is obviously showing the GIF. If I manually postback, I lose the open/save/cancel dialog, and the user has no opportunity to display the content.

I'm trying to use a variable returned from the database as an integer. My thought is to use a Link button and when my user clicks it, it should open a new window. However, its giving me an error stating the value is in the wrong format. Here is my link button code.

I am having some difficulties with a particular task. I am creating a support desk intranet application and I am trying to write a method within a class within a namespace which will form a generic database connection which can be called from any of the aspx pages so that I have the dbconnection logic in one place; you know, going along with the 'DRY' (Don't Repeat Yourself) mantra.
The Namespace:
SUPPORTDESK.SQL.dbconnection.pullData()
Objective of the method:
To provide any aspx code behind file with an SQL Server 2005 Express Connection and if possible return the data from an SQL Query. This is where I need advice do I create the method such that it simply forms the connection and returns a DataSet or that it returns an SQLConnection object? If i've got things back to front and upside down don't worry I'm a beginner with ASP.NET. The Method so far:
