How To Create An Array Of DateTime Objects
Feb 17, 2010
My brain doesn't seem to be working today. I googled around for this and just couldn't find it, which seems kind of strange since this is such a basic question that I can typically find out very quickly.
I'm trying to create an array of DateTime objects. I can't use a List.
DateTime[] dates
dates[0] = Convert.ToDateTime("12/01/2009");
dates[1] = DateTime.Now;
However, I get an error, stating use of unassigned local variable.

In the project I'm working on I have got a list List<Item> with objects that Is saved in a session. Session.Add("SessionName", List);
In the Controller I build a viewModel with the data from this session
[Code]....
and in my View I loop trough the list of Items and make a form for all of them to be able to remove the item.
[Code]....
When the post from the submit button is handeld the item is removed from the array and post back exactly the same viewModel (with 1 item less in the itemList).
return View("view.ascx", viewModel);
When the post is handled and the view has reloaded the value's of the html.Hidden and Html.Textbox are the value's of the removed item. The value of the html.Encode is the correct value. When i reload the page the correct values are in the fields. Both times i build the viewModel the exact same way.

Assume the JSON returned is
{"2010143545":{"info":[1,"soccer"]},
"2010143547":{"info":[0,"Basketball"]}
}
How do I use JQuery to render the array on ASP.NET page? More precisely, what kind of HTML template do I need to set to stuff the JSON with JQuey?

I'm trying to add Div Objects to an array and trying to access them later when I call my loadViews function. All of my alerts fire, in the proper order, but the array m_Divs is always of length 0.
I'm re-registering the script each time on Page_Load, due to it throwing an "Error: Object expected" after each page_load when trying to call the javascript if I don't.
.JS file.

I have a gridview control that displays expenses claims received from clients. I have a template field that contains a checkbox - if this is ticked, a value from the gridview is added to a variable and this is outputted to a label control.
What I then want to do is to update the database according to which row has been ticked. I have so far the following code that adds each value to an array, which I was then hoping to access in the sql query i.e. Update table set value = value where id = (id's added to array)..
Code as follows - so far I'm just displaying the count of values in the array to make sure they are actually being added:

I have stringarray called Timesplit with time like(17:00-2:00).How to store Timeplit array values into datetime array value.I am having 7 values that's why i am using TimeIn[arrayIndex].I will increment arrayIndex for 7 times for 7 timeIn.
I am getting error while trying to store TimesPlit[0] to TimeIn[arrayIndex].I want 17:00 into TimeIn[arrayIndex] and 2:00 into TimeOut[arrayIndex].If i use datetime will get date also so give me better options to store TimeIn and TimeOut.
Object reference error
DateTime[] TimeOut = null;
TimeIn[arrayIndex]=Convert.ToDateTime(TimeSplit[0]);
TimeOut[arrayIndex] = TimeSplit[1];

I'm trying to achieve something very similar to a forum. Two basic tables in a database, [Thread] and [Comment] (one to many relationship).
I need to create a form using MVC that creates the initial Thread, and also the very first comment row in the [Comment] table, which references that topic.
Would I need to create a custom object for the View Model? Is there any examples anybody knows of that demonstrate what i'm trying to achieve as I can't seem to find information..

I have an Employee model that has a Name and Company
I want to be able to build multiple Employees in one CREATE view. I figured I need to create an IList<Employee> and do something like:
<%= Html.TextBoxFor(m => m[0].Name) %>
<%= Html.TextBoxFor(m => m[0].Company) %>
<%= Html.TextBoxFor(m => m[1].Name) %>
<%= Html.TextBoxFor(m => m[1].Company) %>
If a user clicks on "Add another employee", I want the view to make another form for the new employee:
<%= Html.TextBoxFor(m => m[3].Name) %>
<%= Html.TextBoxFor(m => m[3].Company) %>
And continue to add form items (and increment the array index if they click on it again).
Keep in mind that I need to build the form and the list dynamically in the create view. I don't already have a populated list of Employees.

I am using ASP.net to retrieve data from a Lotus notes DB using OLEDB connection. I use a ADOrecordset to read the values. When I open the ADo connection, I would like to store each record being read in a custom object and thereby create a collection of custom objects as ADO connection times out when kept open for long.
I then need to iterate throught the collection of custom objects to retrieve the values.
I am using asp.net 2010

Right click on Class name and then selected create instance ,then its Constructor, there comes a dialog box, that just gives a message and a TextBox field is present there, i filled that field with any name and clicked OK.Then error message comes that "Create Instance Failed" and its error code is "0x80004005" . What's this ? How to instantiate object of my classes ?
But with the same procedure i can create object in WPF applications. What is problem with asp.net ?

First I am sorry if I am creating a thread in the wrong category as I am not sure which is the best suitable place for this question: I want to create a user defined data structure, which will be a 2 dimensional array such that each individual square of this 2-dimensional array will also store the score and the grades. ( Iam using VB.NET) More details: for example: There is an 2 dimensional array with 3 columns and 2 rows, I want to fill each of the (0,0);(0,1);(0,2) with their own score (Integer type) and grades (String Type). And this is same for the rest of the squares i.e. (1,0);(1,1);(1,2) and (2,0);(2,1);(2,2) After creating such custom data structure: "CustomArray", I should be able to create the instance of this custom data structure (which will be a class) and code something like this:
Dim objCustomArray as CustomArray
objCustomArray = New CustomArray
for i as Integer =0 to 3
objCustomArray(0,i).SetScore(1)
objCustomArray(0,i).SetGrade("Good")
Next
-------
for i as Integer =0 to 3
Dim myVal as Integer = objCustomArray(0,i).GetScore()
Dim myGrade as String = objCustomArray(0,i).gettGrade()
Next
-----

I've got a while loop that's doing some stuff, and what I want is for it to create a new array each time.
while(condition){
//do some stuff
//create an array x[]
//amend values in array
//save as new array each time until loop finished
}
Actually i need to store the comma separated values of different datatypes in an array using split.And then i hav to sort these values comparing zeroth position element of all rows.

I have a form and I want to insert the current time at which the user clicks to insert into the table of my db.
When running, I get the following error when trying to insert into my sqldatasource:
"System.FormatException: String was not recognized as a valid DateTime."
What's wrong with my insert parameter?:
<InsertParameters>
<asp:Parameter Name="DateAdded" Type="DateTime" DefaultValue= "<% DateTime.Now %>" />

I need to know what would be the best choice of array to use given the following specifications. This array's size will be predermined upon the loading of the appication. All I want to do is be able to add values to this array and replace preexisting array items with new values without the array changing size. Someone suggested that I use a Dictionary Array Object? I would appreciate any suggestions.

I have a webform that gives the user the option to submit 5 referrals. Currently I only have 1 checklistbox that gives the user a choice to select products of interest for all the referrals. I would like to add a checklistbox under each referral input field in case there are different product interest for each referral? So when the referral gets a confirmation email it contains the product of interest that is specific to that referral.

I have a method that returns an array of custom class objects that are created by parsing a text file. At the moment every time I use it I am rereading the file which isn't very efficient.
What I wat to do is create an array containing the objects when the page loads and store them in an array which can then be used later.
[Code]....
I thought I could create the static object using something like:
static Album myAlbums[] = readArray("Albums.txt");
but I am getting the following error:
A field initializer cannot reference the nonstatic field, method, or property 'B2M._Default.readArray(string)'
I am new to C# so this is probably something dumb. (Feel free to poke fun in my general direction if this is the case!)

I'm really drawing a blank on this one. I've been working on globalization but the DateTime seems to always revert back to the CurrentThread's culture.
I've got a textbox with the date expressed as a string:
// the CurrentThread's culture is de-DE
// My test browser is also set to de-DE
IFormatProvider culture = new System.Globalization.CultureInfo("de-DE",
true);
// en-US culture, what I'd ultimately like to see the DateTime in
IFormatProvider us_culture = new System.Globalization.CultureInfo("en-US",
true);
// correctly reads the textbox value (22.7.2010 into a datetime)
DateTime dt= DateTime.Parse(txtStartDate.Text, culture,
System.Globalization.DateTimeStyles.NoCurrentDateDefault);
// correctly produces a string 7/22/2010
string dt2 = dt.ToString(us_culture);
At this point I want a DateTime that's in en-US I've tried both:
DateTime dt3 = Convert.ToDateTime(dt2, us_culture);
DateTime dt3 = DateTime.Parse(dt2, us_culture);
But both produce de-DE DateTimes. My motivation in asking this question is the rest of the business logic is going to be calling dt2.toString() and will result in an incorrect date time string. I realize I could change toString() to be toString(us_culture) but I'd rather not change all of the rest of the business logic to accomodate this change.
Is there a way to get a DateTime in a culture other than the CurrentThread's culture?
