Aug 13, 2010I have developed a website that allows users to upload office documents then uses the office object model to convert the document to an HTML file that it then displays in an iFrame. I have, of course, included references to Office.interop.word, and the site works fine on my development machine. When I uploaded it to my production server the site functions fine until I try to upload a document. I initially got a similar error that said "COM object not registered". I realized that Word wasn't installed on my production server. So I installed word and now when the server tries to access the word object model I receive the following error:
Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {000209FF-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} failed due to the following error: 80070005 Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))
I searched the registry for the corresponding CLSID and found a corresponding folder. I added full control to the IUSR_ account and due to the persistence of the error I eventually added full control to "everyone" and ensured these permissions inherited down to the rest of the folder. I then added full control to IUSR_ and again eventually added full control to "everyone" to my microsoft office folder. I don't know what other permissions to grant and where in order to make this "Access is denied" error go away. I must be granting them in the wrong place, because as far as I know I can't be any more permissive than "Everyone" "Full Control".

But I am not able to find index of exact word in css file. Ex. I am looking for "body a:link" in css file but it gives me index of ".cp-body a:link"

Exporting Swf Object As Image To Word?
Mar 28, 2010in my Asp.net web page (C# on backend) I use a Repeater, whose items consist of a title and a Flex chart (embedded .swf file). I am trying to export the contents of the Repeater to a Word document. My problem is to convert the SWF files into images and pass it on to the Word document.
The swf object has a public function which returns a byteArray representation of itself (public function grabScreen():ByteArray), but I do not know how to call it directly from c#. I have access to the mxml files, so I can make modifications to the swf files, if needed.

C# - Getting A Object Reference Error In Prod Only When Trying To Use The Word DocumentClass?
Feb 25, 2011I am writing a program that uses a .dotx template and does a merge of data in an aspx page. The program works perfect on my Dev workstation locally but when I deploy it to a test IIS server, it fails on the second line below giving me an Object Reference error.
I ran into problems earlier because the Word Com object was not on the IIS server so I loaded Word onto the server and set permission in DCom and got past that problem. But now I get this error on the line that starts with wRange = . As I said, the program works perfectly locally in debug mode.

Web Page On VPS Can't Create Word Application ActiveX Object
Nov 7, 2012So I have written as part of an application some code that on my clients website pulls some information from SQL server and uses it to create a new file using a Word with bookmarks as a template. It works fine on my development machine, but not on my production server with the error: "Cannot create ActiveX component.: Word.Application". Now I have been approaching this as if it is an issue with Office, but it occurred to me that this might be another issue. Maybe some security issue with ASP.NET? My original thought was it was some kind of compatibly problem as I had Office 2007 on my machine and 2010 on the server.

Jan 22, 2010I have a Windows 2003 test server hosting an asp.net 2.0 application and Sql Server 2005 running as Sql Server 2000(80).During a recent a security review we decided that it wasn't such a hot idea to use sql authentication with an sysadm user as the database user for the asp.net application. Having done a bit of reading (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms998258.aspx#pagguidelines0001_dataaccess) I decided to use a lower privilege database user account and windows authentication.Starting from scratch I created a new custom service account (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms998297.aspx) and assigned this to the process identity for the application pool.I then created a new database login and user for this account. I added the db_datareader and db_datawriter roles to this user and I also granted EXECUTE permissions for user defined stored procedure and functions. However when I started the application I got this error 'User does not have permission to perform this action.Cannot find the object 'AspNet_SqlCachePollingStoredProcedure', because it does not exist or you do not have permission.' - after a quick hunt I found thishttp://forums.asp.net/p/1487216/3493362.aspx and followed the advice herehttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.web.caching.sqlcachedependencyadmin.aspx and granted the user CREATE TABLE and CREATE PROCEDURE permissions.Still no joy - after digging around and looking at sql profiler I found what I believe to be the offending piece of sql:

My understanding is that to issue 'GRANT EXECUTE' the user must db_owner or db_secadmin. Indeed it all works fine if I give the service account user login the db_owner role.This sql is caused by: SqlCacheDependencyAdmin.EnableNotifications(ConnectionString), this is called once and once only by the application start event.Is there a work around for this? I would like to use the lower privilege account as per best practice but this issue is making it tricky.
C# - How To Find Object In NHibernate/castle Activerecord Session
Aug 27, 2010I am getting the following error in an Asp.Net Castle ActiveRecord app when trying to update an object:
"a different object with the same identifier value was already associated with the session"
I've looked up and down my code to see where else the object might have been created but I'm not seeing it. This is baffling as I have the exact same code on another page that works fine on updates
Now I'm thinking of trying to see where this other object is in the Session and either kill it or find out how it got into the session. How can I find this object?

Ok, I finally found where the object is being called. However, I would still like to know how to find objects in the session for future reference.

I can find the element in UI Spy, but the name just says "Silverlight Control". Trying to find that AutomationElement in my automated test is unsuccessful (control is null every time). Is there a setting in the Silverlight code or in the html that would help? How can I distinguish it if there are multiple Silverlight controls on the same page?
